Hotel Forum is a great place to stay if you are traveling with children (ours are ages 9 and 12). It's one of the few hotels that will allow four to a room--and the room is spacious. Clean, modest and centrally located; Hotel Forum has an English-speaking staff that's friendly and they give detailed driving directions to all the places we wanted to go (Mt. Vesuvius, Sorrento, etc). The hotel is directly across the street from the side entrance of the Pompeii ruins, which was a huge time saver. Shops and restaurants surround the hotel, and there's a fabulous family-owned pizza/pasta restaurant just a few doors down. With free parking, freshly squeezed orange juice and homemade crescent rolls in the mornings, I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in Pompeii.

Great beautiful hotel, clean comfortable rooms, good ambiance, good price and a decent breakfast. Much better than hotels in Rome that cost the same price. It is worth a night's stay if you're looking to explore Pompeii. Also without the 2 euro per person per night hotel tax Rome has.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in November, so we could visit the ruins. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble! The first room we were allocated had a couple of minor maintenance issues, but rather than asking if we wanted to wait for it to be fixed (the maintenance man was sorting things out for a function, & likely to be a little while), they immediately moved us to another room, which turned out to be much bigger & certainly more comfortable. Breakfast was included and was more than adequate, with plenty of choice. The room was quite sizable and the bathroom was ok - a decent size, but maybe a little 'tired', the shower stall was very narrow (we're not large people) & the towels were more like large tea towels, but the shower itself was brilliant! It wasn't one of the recently renovated rooms, but it served its purpose & was beautifully clean & the bed was very comfortable! Literally 3 mins walk to the ruins of the ancient city of Pompeii and we toured the ruins by ourselves (no guide/tour etc) & spent 7 hours there! To just walk across the road back to our hotel was great! There are some lovely restaurants close by, as well as some great coffee shops & wine bars! We would recommend this hotel, especially considering its proximity to the ruins!

We had the opportunity to stay at the Hotel Forum, Pompeii recently during a business trip.

The location of the hotel is very central and literally 200m from the Amphitheatre entrance to the excavations of old Pompeii! It also located on the main shopping street of Pompei.

The Hotel is situated almost equidistant (1km) between the Circumvesuviana Narrow Gauge Railway that links Napoli with Sorrento and the Italian State (FS) railway station on the local line that links Naples with Salerno.

The rooms are clean, if somewhat "crowded" and part of the breakfast room/dining area was undergoing works while we were there. Having the Architect discussing works with the builder while having one's breakfast can, at times, be disconcerting. Breakfasts were generally ver good.

Finally there were no International TV channels available during our stay. This is not a problem as we bought understand Italian. There were channels earmarked for CNN, ZDF, BBC and a couple of others, but only showing static. We did report this but nothing was done while we were there. If you need access to such channels ask before you book!

The staff were very helpful although somewhat "relaxed and noisy" at times.

4-star hotel in Pompei 50 yards from entrance to ancient ruins park. Folks at front desk were very helpful on the park and restaurants. Room and bathroom and shower was plenty big. If you arrive by rental car, you will be afraid to drive to the hotel because one block from the hotel there is a ZTL sign. The road is only a ZTL from midnight to 6am, so you can drive tot he hotel and you have to pull into their little driveway, unload your bags, and then they have you park right across the street in a pay parking lot. They give you a stamp that pays for the parking. As far as the park goes, we walked it from 9am - 5pm and saw almost everything in the park that was open. There's really nothing else to do in the town except the park except walk the one street of shopping and restaurants and one nice church. Breakfast was very classy in their very nice dining room (standard with scrambled eggs and ham and such). Our room was right off the main street, so it was rather noisy until the ZTL quiet time of midnight to 6am--I don't understand why all the drivers in Italy honk their horns so much, they honked constantly and for no apparent reason; it was rather annoying. Nice beds (not as ancient mattresses as some hotels we stayed in), the pillows were pretty old/flat/hard.
