“Brilliant Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2011

Stayed at this hotel from 24/5/11~31/5/11. The hotel's situation was excellent for the excavations and near to the circumvesuviana train station. The staff were very kind and attentive and nothing too much trouble. The room was large and the facilities in the room up to standard. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice and eating in the garden under the lemon trees delightful. Room service had a good menu at reasonable prices. It was lovely to relax in the garden with a drink in a comfortable chair. The town of Pompei was nice but busy with pilgrims to the church. My room was at the front of the hotel which was a bit noisy especially at night, however one night the pilgrims staged a parade to the church with icons and fireworks which from the balcony was an interesting sight. I expressed an interest in the etchings of pompeii to the receptionist and she gave me a copy of one, also at breakfast they had a dvd about pompeii and ancient rome playing,I asked about buying this and they did not hesistate in making me a copy and would not take any money for this. As a mature solo female traveller I had to make sure that I chose the right hotel and I did! The one drawback was the constant muzak playing in the garden which could if you did not like jazz/blues would get on your nerves. All in all though an excellent choice of hotel.

Room Tip: Upper floor rooms in the new part of the hotel

Myself and my husband finished off our honeymoon with a two night stay in the Hotel Forum in Pompei and what a lovely place to stay and finish it off on a high. The hotel is well situated between two good train stations, right by the Piazza and a stones throw from one of the main entrances to the main excavation site. The room itself was lovely, comfortable, peaceful and clean with a nice balcony overlooking the gardens. The breakfast was lovely and the staff were very polite and very, very helpful even making sure that we something to eat and drink before we left the hotel when we checked out at 5am.

I have never reviewed anything but was so pleased with our stay that I felt strongly about letting others know how nice it was.

Thanks to all staff at the hotel.

Emma Kerr.

We stayed here when visiting the Pompeii historical site.

The hotel was clean and comfortable, the staff were pleasant and helpful.

It was a fairly basis room, but did provide 4 actual beds in the room - which made the kids happy. The grounds of the hotel are quiet beautiful and worth taking out some time to sit in. Breakfast was basic, but fresh and tasty. My one negative on the hotel would be the towels, which were waffle weave cotton instead of normal toweling.

The location of the hotel was great. It was easy to get downtown to eat and after a long, wet day in the ruins we exited, walked across the road and we were back at the hotel.
It is very walkable from the train station - it is only about 1km, so if the weather is nice consider this rather than the local taxi charge of 10Euros for a two minute ride.

Well worth considering, especially if traveling with more than two in your party.

This hotel was a find! Just off the crowded main street of Pompei it is an oasis of quiet, with a lovely courtyard in which to relax. The room was lovely - spacious and well-appointed. The staff were extremely helpful, and the continental breakfast was quite satisfactory. They will soon be opening a restaurant, making it even more convenient. It is located directly across the street from one of the entries to the ruins of Pompei, but be aware that this entrance is not the one from which most self-guided tours begin.

Hotel Forum is a good hotel, well placed for the ruins and the main square. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and their restaurant recommendations excellent - La Bettola del Gusto (varied range of traditional local dishes and wines, and good portion sizes) and Hot and Ice (the best pizzas we've ever had) both on Via Sacra. The garden is a quiet oasis for an early evening drink - nibbles are provided free, and breakfast includes scrambled eggs and sausages as well as traditional cold meats and cheeses.

Room Tip: We had a room at the front, and needed to keep th.

This is a nice hotel set back from the main road going through Pompei and a 30 second walk from the entrance to the ruins of Pompei, the Staff spoke very good english and were helpful.
The room was clean although i thought the bathroom was a bit tatty, the walls were a bit thin eg i could here the maids nattering away one morning and people in other rooms moving around.
At the check in desk they have a very useful map of Pompei and the train stations that was very helpfull.
