“Real Naples”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2011

Stayed here for 2 nights at the end of a touring holiday. Quite simply the best placed b and b we have ever stayed in. If you want real naples stay here. Pasquale is so friendly even tho we speak no italian he gave us some great tips on where to go and gave us a map of the local area.Take his tip on what to have for breakfast at the coffe shop over the road!! Yum!! It is up 3 flights of stairs so would be no good if you were infirm but this was no problem for us. Rooms were clean and air conditioned which was a god send as it was SO hot during our stay. Try Sorbillo or Di Matteo for great pizza both of which are steps away. Get Pasquale to get your taxi back to the airport for you. Well worth the fixed price of 19 euros. But if you want to stay in the thick of it go here. I would stay again no hesitation.

I stayed here for 4 nights in June and loved this place. I also looked at places in the Chiara (too tame) and around the Piazza Garabaldi (too dangerous at night) and picked the Domus Gemi so that I would have an authentic experience in Naples while staying in a very comfortable clean B&B. This was a great choice.
Pasquale and his partner were very thoughtful and helped us with train schedules, boarding pass printing, taxis, directions, carrying our luggage and one day Pasquale personnaly walked us to the ATM (Bankomat) because we had gotten lost trying to find it.
Our room could not have been nicer. It was huge with a large comfortable double and two equally comfortable twin beds. The linens were freshly washed and beautiful. The room had an ensuite with ample hot water and great water pressure. We had satellite TV and AC, although we never used it. The breezes from our two floor to high ceiling balcony windows kept us more than comfortable. I believe there is free wifi, but there is a computer in the common area that is for guest use 24/7.
Domus Gemi was smack in the middle of Old Napoli which was enchanting. It was about a 20 minute walk to the train station but a world away. I was so happy I did not book around Piazza Garabaldi just to save a few dollars.
We walked for hours down the Via de la Tribunali which courses down the middle of Old Napoli. We had incredible pizza right down the street at the President's Pizzaria (Clinton ate there) and breakfast in the morning at the outdoor cafe directly across the street from the Domus Gemi. We had delicious take away at one of the little delis less than a block away where they make their own grilled eggplant which was to die for. Across the street is Underground Napoli and a lemonchello distillary where they give you a short tour.
We were two women travellers and we never felt unsafe in this neighborhood. We felt like we had made friends after the first day. The shopkeepers and pizza workers recognized us and waved hello when we passed. I would return in a heartbeat.

The most important feature of the place is its fantastic location - right in the heart of the centro storico.
The B&B provided a very friendly and helpful atmosphere, yet professional service.
When entering we felt like arriving at a local family, but the room is separated, tastily furnished, clean, quiet, and has a modern bathroom attached.
The landlord was a tipical local, spoke only Italian, but we could manage long discussions even with my very limited language knowledge. He gave good suggestions and a map for our day, while he even joined us in the morning for a small Italian breakfast at the bar across the street.
All-in-all we had a fantastic day in Napoli, which confuted all the bad preconceptions and warnings we got earlier - and Domus Gemi provided us with like a home for the discoveries.

Your are right in the thick of things here with plenty of hustle and bustle you expect from Naples. This is not everyone's cup of tea, especially the three flights of stairs, but for us it was great. This is in the center of the historic area and most places are within easy walking distance. Cafe's and restaurants abound and you will not get a more helpful host anywhere.
Many thanks to Pasquale for looking after us so well

This is the second time in two years that I have stayed in this great little Bed and Breakfast in the very heart of Naples. The host is marvellously wecolming and will really go out of his way to help you in any way that he can.
The postition in Via dei Tribunali is excellent, there are churches everywhere and lots of excellent eateries are on hand.
The rooms are very spacious and each its own bathroom. All the rooms have delightful views over the piazzetta San Gaetano, which includes one church and one basilica, look at the photo above for the view from one of the rooms.

We were a little apprehensive when we decided to visit Napoli by train from Roma. It turned out to be a fantastic trip. The b&b was perfect, affordable, central, safe and clean. Our host Pasquale was very attentive and very concerned for our well being - gave us great tips on spots to visit and not to visit.
We loved it, our kids (9&10) loved it - and 2 days was not enough, we plan on coming back!

We stayed two nights here in October. Not many tourists around, but plenty of Neapolitan life, which can feel a bit scary, so it was great to have a friendly host, Pasquale, who was really welcoming and helpful.

The room was fine and good value at about £30 each a night B&B. The hotel is on the third floor (no lift) and is slightly difficult to find - we asked someone, who took us to the door and rang the bell for us. Breakfast is at the bar opposite - coffee/tea plus whatever pastries you want - Pasquale recommended sfogliatelle - good choice.

Get him to book a taxi for you to the airport - it works out much cheaper, as well as more convenient.

I'd be very happy to stay there again.
