La Controra Hostel Naples

This hostel was in a good location and the bathrooms and bedrooms were clean. However, the pillows were not in the best condition and neither were the big blankets on the beds. The wi-fi did not work in the bedrooms, only the common room area. The staff were not partiularly helpful and could not aid us in finding a taxi service or bus to get us to an area.

Naples is a crazy city! who would have thought that you could also relax?! After a long day of walking around coming back at the hostel, taking a shower with hot water and in a clean bathroom, going out in the garden to relax, read, hear the birds and no cars it's absolutely needed!

Room Tip: choose the 6 bed mix dorm ensuite or a double ! High class hostelling!

My experience with La Controra was really cool. They have all what it takes and its difficult for somebody to overpass them. I've stayed in Naples for various nights in different hostels, but this one rocks. BIG Pluses: big garden where everybody could meet up, hammocks, cool design& big spaces (not so common as usually all are coloured and really tidy) , bar.

Stayed here for 5 nights with a group of 10. It was a really friendly place with a cheap bar open from around 8pm - 1amish. There was a really nice garden which we ate breakfast in each morning. There were extra toilets/showers which was great if there are many staying in one room although the shared toilets weren't always the cleanest the showers were fine and the room was nice and clean too with a nice view over the garden.

There is also a metro station and supermarket/food shops really nearby which is really handy, would definitely recommend a stay here!

I stayed here late december 2013 and I'd say it is one of the best hostels I've been to in Italy. I liked that they had a 24-hour reception service, free breakfast and the room was clean and spacious. They even sent me back my id (exchange for room key) to me in Germany as it was forgotten about during check out. Sweet service even after the stay!

La Controra was full of fantastic people that made me feel at home as soon as I walked in the door. Mugu's permanent smile was lovely to see every day, whilst Max and Dasha were great fun as well.

The rooms are large and the laundry is clean. The bathrooms were a bit cramped, but they made up for this with a large number of toilets and showers - something other hostels often fall down on. The open air terrace in the middle of the hostel is a fantastic place to enjoy breakfast, reading during the day and partying at night.

There are regular events at the hostel and, as I teach salsa, they staff got me to do an impromptu class for everyone at the hostel which made for a fantastic night! I couldn't recommend this place enough.
