“Had fun in Naples!”

What could I expect more? Really original location. Was part of an old church, that had a lovely interior garden, nice facilities, big common areas, big rooms and confortable beds, welcoming staff.

Definetely if i visit naples, I'll stay here!

Room Tip: if you want a really nice sleep choose a bed of 4 or 6 beds, less people to share room with, better...

We were a group of 5 , and booked a great room with view on the garden . Easy access to subway or walking to historical center . Staff super friendly , helped us with all the important things to visit and other bookings around Naples and Islands. Lots of youngsters hanging around the bar and the garden , night music and

This is a fantastic hostel; the garden, bar, breakfast and staff were all wonderful. I stayed for 2 nights and wanted to stay a third but it was fully booked. Darsha, from Russia, was as helpful as she is beautiful - And that's pretty dam helpful ;-) She recommended walks and great places to see and I got a bargain beer upon arrival. I stayed the final night at the Hostel of the Sun but would recommend La Controra first. Thanks guys. Simon

What a fantastic place to stay, it really made my stay in Naples enjoyable. I made great friends with the staff and the social areas and bar were a great place to meet other people. A mix of all ages but mostly all young at heart. I really enjoyed the karaoke night and having its own bar was awesome. Definitely recommend staying here it will change the way you see Naples

Room Tip: All pretty good but if your a light sleeper maybe choose the 8 bed dorm as the 10 was next to a road

It was my very first time to stay in a hostel and after a 7-week stay, I have found that La Controra sets the bar pretty high for other hostels. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted by the very friendly staff who aren't just there to book your rooms but are also there to guide you through your whole Naples experience.

It is located near a metro station but is also not too far away from via Toledo where people go to shop or visit the historical center of the city. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and well-maintained. There is good breakfast every morning. There is a laundry area and a kitchen that is open to all. The wifi is fast. There is a vendo machine and a coffee machine as well. There are many common areas where people can just relax and talk to other travelers, one even has a piano that anyone can play at certain times of the day.

More than the amenities, the best part about this Hostel is the kind of environment it promotes. It's a great place to meet new and interesting people sharing travel stories. They even have weekly events by the bar such as movie night, art gallery, reggae night, etc. I really recommend this place!

The staff at the reception were friendly and welcoming, spoke excellent English and were very helpful with directions and pointing out places to go on the map. The room itself was spacious and clean, and the mattresses were very comfortable. There is a night light and plug socket next to each bed.

Toilets and showers are separate to dorm rooms (used by the whole corridor). They were clean and well-maintained, although the showers were a bit weak when multiple people were in there. They were also tiny, so there was not much room to get changed, meaning that people had to dash naked out of the cubicles for their clothes!

There is a large kitchen area (although I didn't use it) and free breakfast consisting of cereals, toasts, jams and juice. Lunch is only 3eur for pasta, and happy hour in the evening you pay for a drink and get free pasta with it. Good prices for budget travellers.

Unfortunately, the wifi is not available in rooms and is only available downstairs in the common areas. However the outside garden area has a really nice atmosphere and there is plenty of room.

Tip: request a room facing away from the main street!! There is no air-con so you need the windows open in summer, but all night you are disturbed by loud traffic, cars and scooters honking etc right through the night.

Overall I would definitely stay here again, but hopefully in a quieter room :) The only downside is the location. Although it is next to a metro stop and only a few stops from the Museum and other buildings, it takes a while to get there from Naples Train Station (about 40 mins metro).

Room Tip: Choose a room facing inwards, rather than out towards the main road.

Before our arrival we were scared as many told us that Naples is a dangerous city... Actually is not like this ... The staff made us understand that the city is dangerous as we wat to see it as any other big city, they offered us great information, and really this place's security is the best. Naples is a crazy city and la Controra offers you the feeling of being home in one big family... great facilities!!! I wish to come back sometimes.
