The La Controra hotel has a lot of charm. Near the lobby of the hotel, there is a large common area with couches, a clean communal kitchen, computers and DVD's available for rent. Just outside the common area, there is a large courtyard that is probably very nice in the summer, but was cold, wet and virtually unusable when I was there in November.
On the contrary, the room my friend and I stayed in was less charming. It was a bit chilly, with only one outlet. It would have been a much different experience had we been there during the warmer months because our room walks out into the courtyard and would have been a great place to hang out outside the room.
The staff is very friendly, patient and helpful.

La Controra's recently renewed rooms are decorated by art sculptures placed in the floor tiles featuring sea shells, Neapolitan coffee pots, garlic and chilli peppers, “ex-voto” and red coral horns (ethnic Neapolitan esoterica and good luck charms!). ... more less
