“Lots of Good Points and Reasons to Stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2012

The web page is very flattering. The hotel is very nice, clean, exquisitely located at the top of the funicular and near lovely Vomero restaurants and cafes. You won't be with a pack of tourists, in a iffy neighborhood, or isolated. Right out the front door are several restaurants that have jazz musicians serenading diners in the evening. A friggatoria is a block away. The main street is a no-traffic area where families take their evening stroll and watch each other; there's a puppet stand that does Commedia d'art shows for kids in the evening and a clown walking around. A green park--Villa Floridiana--is a few blocks away. Castel d'Elmo a short walk away. If you jump on the funicular, you can be in Chiara or the Historic district in the click of the heel. Perhaps, the greatest thing this hotel has going for it is LOCATION. It's owned by a consortium who are very careful and neat. It is important to realize this is not a five star place, so don't expect luxury, but do expect kind and thoughtful service relative to 4-5 star. The breakfast is basic Italian fare ( packaged breads, sweets, fruit, cereal and coffee, juice. If you want REAL expresso, there's a cafe to the left that is marvelous.

Room Tip: Ask for view of Capri and BAy of NAples

Staying in Napoli can be a bit of a lottery. Hotel Cimarosa takes away your worries. It is out of the centre of town, but is right next to a metro station and the cable car railway, so you can be anywhere in 10mins. Once you see the centre of town you will be pleased for the quiet, safe neighbourhood where the hotel is situated. It's not 5* so don't expect that level of service, but it is clean and safe, unlike a lot of Naples. A it tricky to find, especially n your first nights arrival but follow the sign and it's on the right just before the steps up. Enter the building and head for the 5th floor. All the lower floors are apartments.

This hotel is on floors 5&6 of a building in Vomero in Naples. The area is close to shops restaurants and light rail stations. if you are concerned about staying in Naples this is the way to do it. The hotel is 15 mins by light rail to the centre of the city but in the evening the shopping centre around Vomero is quite safe. The hotel staff are very helpful and the Italian breakfast is adequate. the rooms are modern, clean and quiet. We noticed when we were there that many Italian business people use this hotel. If you get a taxi from Napoli Centrale it will cost 30 euro. You can get the light rail but you need to identify the station on a map before you go as it is a 10 min walk from where you arrive. I would stay here again if visiting Naples.

booked it online from Florence a couple of days prior, after doing a bit of research. if this is the nicest area of Naples, yikes. all of us were disappointed in the rooms, they aren't chic they are kind of dormitory. our friend got the room across the hall from us and it had an ocean view, much better than ours. staff at the desk were nice, but didn't have a map of the hotel or of Naples to help us navigate. wouldn't have been disappointed if they didn't try to pass it off as a boutique hotel, which it isn't. the quirky artwork--weird. and not in a good way. basic breakfast, crappy coffee.

Room Tip: ask for the ocean view side

Dear guest I'm sorry i had a such negative experience at our hotel and above all at the peaceful Vomero hill. Regarding your definition, I'm very sorry but Hotel Cimarosa cannot be define "dormitory" ( as it means an individual room in which many people sleep) because it distinguishes from others hotels of same category just for its large room and above all for its large bathroom with a shower 100 x 200 cm that is not so usual. Regarding our artworks... we do not pretend that all the people may understand and appreciate it. nevertheless... Van Gogh only sold one painting during his lifetime. The breakfast is more than in line with the standard of our hotel category ( 3 stars hotel). Anyway from your reviews about Italian hotels , I understand that your journey has not been so enjoyable.

Great service, nothing was too much trouble. Great location - right next to the funiculare and metro and a really amazing pizza restaurant that we could see from our room (just up the stairs outside the entrance, yum!). Enjoyed looking at the fun artwork . If we stay again (which we will if we go back to Naples), I think we'd ask for a sea view room.

We had a lovely stay at Hotel Cimarosa - the renovated hotel with its eclectic art and modern rooms and bathrooms was a joy to stay in.From the welcoming friendly Massimo at the front desk to the housekeeping staff nothing was too much effort. From our rooms (202 & 203) you could see Capri. The rooms were a good size and fittings and bathrooms were modern and functional. Breakfast was good (Italian style).Location was good in relation to transport and many local stores and eating places.
A highly recommended hotel if staying in Napoli. It will be our only choice when in Napoli!
Remember the hotel is on the 5th floor of a residential apartment building with a good lift.

when you step out of the vintage elevator and view the stylish fitout, you may be surprised by the welcoming reception you get from staff like Massimo at the desk.
We had an enjoyable time naples which proved an interesting historic place - more than just a stopover beween rome and amalfi.

Room Tip: we had views to capri but they are distant, and over the roofs of harbourside naples.
