Hotel Piazza Bellini
Ranked #2 of 185 Hotels in Naples

Reviewed November 9, 2012

Stayed at this Hotel for two nights over a weekend visiting Naples and Pompeii. The Hotel is next to Piazza Bellini and is ideally placed to visit the nearby sights of Naples on foot as well as the other areas of Naples. There are plenty of good Pizza Restaurants near the Hotel and plenty of shops to buy snacks, drinks etc. There is a gated entrance to the Hotel and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The Breakfast room is just across the Courtyard and there is a fairly good choice of food available.
Although nothing to do with the Hotel, they ordered a Taxi to go to Naples Railway station for us, we were given an idea of what the price would be but it ended up being more on the meter and we were then told by the driver we had to pay extra for the phone call(?). Not the Hotels fault but just beware.

This hotel was in the perfect location for us during our first visit to Naples. The Archaelogical museum is a very short walk away and the surrounding neighbourhood is fascinating to explore, which we did with a fantastic local guide called Marina di Martino of napolinostressitinerari.com. She showed us things we never would have discovered on our own. Yes, Naples is gritty but also full of life and energy, history and beauty.
We loved the hotel with its big courtyard and all the whimsical touches throughout. I enjoyed the fact that while the building was old the interiors were very modern and sleek.
Our room had everything we needed with a very spacious bathroom and a comfortable bed. As I have said in the room tips we had a lovely big terrace which was a bonus.

The staff were all friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was included and was good except for the coffee. This is just a minor negative but bad coffee in Italy? My suggestion would be to remedy the coffee situation! That is my only complaint about this fun and well located hotel. I think it is good value and highly recommend it.
We will stay here again on any future trips to Naples.

Room Tip: We were on the fifth floor, room 511 to be exact and we had a nice big terrace which you could acces...

The bones of the hotel are historic but the renovation is as contemporary and comfortable as a person could wish for without paying deluxe prices. The rooms are spacious with wonderful lighting, better-than-average storage and windows that keep out street noise. The decor is thoughtful of travelers with whimsical artwork that is a breath of fresh air as a change of pace from Italy's exceptional antiquities. It is a little like being in a gallery or museum of contemporary art.

The beds are comfortable, the shower is refreshing and the shampoo and shower gel are easily distinguishable, one from the other.

Breakfasts are tasty, staff is helpful. Location is close to metros and museums and shopping, and markets and good food. And there is a lift. Who could ask for anything more?

At the edge of the old town, a lovely modernised almost boutique hotel. Set back from the road in a nice courtyard, very friendly helpful staff, nice large quiet clean room, nice breakfasts.

Located in a lively area with many 'local' restaurants. Highly recommended on all counts.

I highly recommend the Hotel Piazza Bellini. It is a beautiful place that looks to have been recently renovated. It is situated in a lively section of the city, but the noise and grit ends at the hotel's gates. The staff were pleasant, helpful and attentive. The room was immaculate, quiet and nicely appointed. In fact, our room was the quietest I have ever stayed in - which is saying something if you know Naples. One of the staff pointed us in the direction of a great pizza restaurant - Sorbelli, and the wonderful Osteria de Carmella we were thankful for the referrals as both were terrific. Can't say enough about this great hotel. A word about Naples - it is a fascinating and beautiful city, but a word of caution, be careful walking the streets - watch out for cars, scooters coming from any direction - cross walks and stop signs are optional. Also pick pockets - don't carry anything you do not want stolen, carry nothing in your pockets and only carry a bag if you have it in front of you. But do not let these issues deter you, Naples is well worth the visit.

Had a wonderful stay here. The hotel is in an old building superbly renovated in a contemporary style with original art in the very spacious room.
The location is perfect in the old quarter of Naples, on piazza Bellini which is lively but not rowdy with a young student crowd. Nearby Via Toledo is also good.
Breakfast is continental style and above average for hotels like this. Staff were friendly and spoke English.
Only downside is no WiFi in the rooms, but wired connection is available.

As you've probably seen from the photos- this hotel has designer/boutique pretensions. As a result the room was nicely decorated and furnished in a 'quirky' manner.

This is, however, its only saving grace. Breakfast was poor- made up of low-quality cheap ingredients. We got a room that overlooked a squalid gap between buildings and it had a tiny window with barely any natural daylight. This was despite our booking details stating that we would get a room with balcony (no), bath (no), sofa (no). When we raised this discrepancy with reception they put it down to the booking website using a generic description that related to all of their rooms (clearly not).

So the room was little better than a dungeon and, because it and the bathroom were so enclosed, also had a strong smell of damp. This was resolutely not worth the £100 we paid for it and rarely have we been so disappointed in terms of vfm.

Room Tip: Room 209 is 'the dungeon'
