No need to discuss the location once again since so many previous reviews already have. At the end of the day, pros and cons of Piazza Garibaldi are rather balanced, and safety issues linked to pickpockets only are of real concern when using public transportation or standing still in a crowd: the neighborhood by itself doesn't make things better or worse..
The Hotel UNA stands out as a fine mid-size hotel combining all modern amenities (Wifi Internet access, adjustable A/C, cable TV with major international channels, stocked in-room mini-bar, stylish bathroom fixtures, laptop-friendly safe, magnetic doorkeys, double-paned windows, etc..) with the charm of a period building that was fully renovated.
You can choose both the size of room you're looking for and the type of beddings you need, king, twins, etc.. The buffet breakfast (either included in the rate or at a cheap extra charge) is more than satisfactory: wide selection of cold items, a few warm items, made-on-order beverages for real Italian coffee amateurs. And you can have it in the stylish dining-room or on the rooftop terrace with a gorgious panoramic view, or in your room, almost throughout the entire morning. Bellboy service, luggage storage are efficiently provided, taxi calls reliable.
The hotel restaurant offers a short yet enjoyable menu with a variety of typical Italian dishes for a sensible cost, with fast and courteous waiting staff.
A special mention for the front-desk team, who, unlike some other big-city hotels in Italy, is extremely efficient and helpful. They really go a long way to make your stay a pleasant one and to comply with any particular queries. Congratulations to Angela and the entire staff for being so efficient and so welcoming. I'm more than surprised by the few negative reviews about this note. Guess you can never please everybody. This was my second stay at the Naples UNA, and both experiences have been very satisfactory, grazie. Just try it for yourself, I bet you'll agree with me.

Stayed here for two nights. We had a living social deal (still €100 per night so not exactly deal of the century). Not really sure if the reception staff are like this with everyone or maybe because we had a deal it labelled us as second class citizens. But regardless, 3 of the 4 people working on the reception desk were unbelievably rude.

Just to clear things up, I'm not one of these random 'complainers' you get on tripadvisor. I've never written a complaint before. However it was almost funny how ignorant the staff were here.

Example: On the first day I asked for a map, to which the lady looked at me as if I had three heads. Eventually she shuffled over, grabbed a map, threw it at me without making eye contact and said nothing. When I asked if she could show us where we were on the map it was as if I had asked her for a foot massage!! Staff behaviour tends to be a group thing in most hotels and evidently this hotel is not run well.......horrible people!

As regards the rest of the hotel:

Room was nice.

Breakfast good.

Rooftop terrace was a bonus.

Location was terrible. Its literally dangerous. Left the front door at night to be greeted by two hookers on the footpath and drug addicts lying around the square out front. The train station area just aint a nice place to be in Naples. If your visiting stay down by the water front.

Sorry for complaining....but ya know what?.....sometimes ya gotta!!

Room Tip: Seems to be a business hotel. If your on business then drive on. Anybody else stay away.

We wanted to be close to the train station so we chose this hotel. After arriving into the city and seeing the trash surrounding Garibaldi Plaza - I was so scared we were going to be staying in a dump. Was I ever wrong! UNA Hotel Napoli was a complete and welcomed surprise in a sea of chaos. This hotel is beautifully renovated and decorated and the rooms are ultra modern, cozy and comfortable. I never wanted to leave my room! The rooftop bar and restaurant were just as fabulous, with sweeping views of the city.

While I was a bit disappointed with Naples and the overwhelming trash, crazy traffic and pushy street peddlers, I was most grateful for the comfort and beauty of UNA Hotel Napoli. I agree with the other reviewers - this was an oasis.

Una is near the train station, in a neighborhood that's ...well, like any other neighborhood near the train station. This place is an oasis. There's a lovely rooftop bar/restaurant where you can watch the sunset over the city on one side, Vesuvius on the other. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The artwork in the lobby is admirable. The room very clean and comfortable. Plus near the train to Pompeii,if that's where you're headed. And near the Historic Center. We walked from UNa to spend a half day sightseeing, on foot, to San Giovanni Carbonara a church not to be missed, had lunch and then boarded a bus to Lecce from a spot near the hotel.

We stayed here on our first night in Italy. Anyone who has done any research will be aware that Naples is a little downtrodden in places. The hotel's location was ideally situated near the train station for our onward journey. The square itself looks a little rough around the edges with lots of street sellers as well as some construction work but it did not feel particularly unsafe (although I would be more cautious of wandering around the area late at night). Once we entered the hotel though, it was like an oasis of calm. The hotel was extremely clean and well decorated. Our room was quite large with a very modern smart bathroom.

The rooftop bar/restaurant area was lovely and, considering the area, relatively peaceful. Sipping drinks on the rooftop terrace looking out over Naples as night fell and the lights came on was lovely. Breakfast on the same terrace the next day was also very good. The food generally was of a good quality and the staff were very helpful.

Overall, if this hotel were in a nicer location it would be twice the price. For the service, it was excellent value and for a one night stop over between flying into Naples and setting off to Sorrento it was in a perfect location - one stop on the Alibus from the airport and a short walk to the station to catch the Circumvesuviana train. If I was staying in Naples longer then I think I would probably choose an alternative location but for a short stopover this hotel really was excellent value.

We just stayed at this hotel for two nights and it was brilliant. If you have done your research, you'll know that Naples itself is pretty rough around the edges, which is what makes this hotel so great. The piazza that it is located on is a bit rough, beggars, lots of people selling bits of crap like fake bags and watches. But it is about 2 minutes walk to the main train station , and the buses from the airport drop you almost outside the hotel (3€.) If you are prepared to navigate the noise, the traffic and the salesmen you will have a brilliant stay here. As long as you are aware of your possessions when walking around, you shouldn't encounter any problems, eg pickpockets etc. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated, modern and clean with friendly staff who are always willing to help you with your Italian speaking, very patient with our attempts anyway! The hotel restaurant is lovely, very nice food if a tiiiiiny bit overpriced, but we ate there each night and had no complaints whatsoever. Breakfast is ideal, coffee, teas, juices, cereal, plus the usual continental fare, pastries, fruits, meats, cheeses, bread and toast etc. And it is included in the price of the room. There is a gorgeous roof terrace where you can have breakfast and dinner, which overlooks Naples, which actually looks very nice from above! You can see Vesuvius and the port in the distance, as well as the manic traffic which makes for some hilarity. The mini bar is expensive, but the shop just next to the hotel sells all of the contents, so if you can bear to leave the safe confines of the lobby then this is your best bet. Basically, if you want to see real Italy, at least southern Italy, Naples is a must see, if only to make you appreciate Florence or Rome's atmosphere more! Very conveniently located to visit Pompeii/Vesuvius, and to escape to Sorrento, Rome or Capri after a long flight. Also there is a brilliant pizzeria about 5/10 minutes walk away which does amazing pizzas in traditional surroundings, featured in Eat, Pray, Love (film with Julia Roberts!!).

We stayed here as part of our tour of Italy. There is no question, for links to the local, national & international rail network, the hotel is perfect. It is on the opposite side of the square from the station. However, this is the business part of town and, honestly, is rather grubby. Dirty streets, rubbish and (currently) major infrastructure works to the city's Metro mean the square is a mess.

Inside, the hotel is very stylish (as befits this group of hotels), our room (a superior) was large, good soundproofing & an excellent black out. Could have done with a lick of paint, there were numerous scrapes & scuffs on the decorated surfaces. On the whole though, a good standard.

The roof terrace bar & restaurant offer great views of the city & Service was excellent.

Our main gripe would be, for a hotel of this class, the wifi should be free in your room, not rationed out at one hour a day before you have to pay.
