“nice place for sightseeing”
Reviewed February 16, 2010

We clearly recommend this place for sightseeing Naples. It's close to the historic centre, the alibus to the airport and the opera is a 5 minutes walk. The disadvantage being close to the centre is a certain loudness caused by the traffic of the street below the apartment but we didn't mind. The friendly housekeeper offers an Italian breakfast and plenty of information material and is very helpful.

This was our first trip to Napoli and I believe our choice of accommodation made a world of difference. Staying at Latt' e Liett' made our plans to use Napoli as a base to visit the outlying attractions very feasible primarily because of its excellent location - transportation (bus, tram and ferry) was so near. You'll appreciate this when you get dropped off so near the doorstep after a long day out.

The owner, Giancarlo, gave us explicit instructions so we didn't get gypped by the cabbie, when arriving at the train station at night. He was at the apartment when we arrived and was very, very patient in answering all my many, many questions - even availing himself if I had any more queries. He was extremely kind and we were impressed by the level of hospitality. Finding treats Giancarlo had left for us when we got back from a long day of sightseeing, was a very nice surprise. (The chocolate cake that gets repeated mention is delicious!)

The decent-sized apartment itself is very well thought-out, tastefully decorated and has great amenities, like the kitchenette and caffettiera. I appreciated the provision of the numerous brochures (in multiple languages), schedules and how-to lists, down to satellite TV channel listings and the owner's eatery recommendations. The unit we stayed at faced the harbor and a main street but we didn't have any problems with noise. I had a problem with the shower's hot water running out but my travel companion didn't have any issue with it.

Prior to arrival, I had been concerned about the coin-operated elevator but since the apartments are situated on the second floor, there's no need to use it during the day and it's free for use at night (when you really need it). I also appreciated that the apartments are located in a good neighborhood - daily, we (two women) got back after dark and never felt any concern for our safety, even in the back lanes.

My recommendation would be for the provision of more healthy breakfast options like bread or buns or muesli. Oh, the slot where the power key goes in should be illuminated so that occupants don't fumble in the dark.

Overall, we had an excellent stay at Latt' e Liett' and would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone visiting Napoli, particularly those wanting to visit the archaeological sites or the Amalfi Coast.

We have been in Naples for the 1st time and our experience have been great.
The tidy and cozy apartment made us feel at home immediatly: fully equipped with whatever you need (italian breakfast, tools and accesories for cooking even though we did not need as we were always out). Also you will not get lost or feel alone: the owner, Giancarlo, has been a special guide with his suggestions (but never intrusive) and in the reception area it is possible to retrieve lots of information on tours, things to see/do.
The location is perfect to go around Naples as to visit Amalfi coast, Capri, Pompei, Sorrento: transportation is basically downstairs.
Even though the apartment is near a very busy street, there was no noise in "our" apartment.

briliant b&b, the owner was very helpful, left home-made cakes and breads for us! plenty of breakfast goodies. clean, comfortable, and the best location in naples. opposite the ferry port for capri, sorrento, ect. had the court-yard facing studio....not dissapointing...as it was quiet, large, and no traffic noise!

We really liked the apartment and Giancarlo, the owner, was excellent. He is a traveler, too, and knows what matters to travelers. He had lots of information about Naples, including his favourite restaurants. He was very friendly and even left some delicious cake for us. The apartment was very clean and comfortable. The location is very convenient, just a bus ride away from the central train station or the Circumvesuviana train station, and across from the port which is very convenient if you're looking to take the ferry to Capri. It was a short walk to Spaccanapoli and Galleria Umberto, plus lots of good restaurants nearby.
The only thing to improve, which I suggested to Giancarlo, was to provide healthier breakfast alternatives like muesli or oat meal. The breakfast is self-serve but it was mainly processed/not healthy stuff. A previous review had mentioned this already so I made sure to pack a bag of muesli with us. But I couldn't resist having Giancarlo's chocolate cake for breakfast one morning!

A well thought of Bed and Breakfast with self-catering and well decorated appartments. The owner has thought about everything : a huge number of flyers and brochures of Naples and surroundings, a list of his favourite restaurants, shops, monuments and shops. He spent a lot of time explaining everything we could need, and twice during our stay he dropped by with cake and chocolates. He made us feel so at home that it almost felt as if we were visiting a friend.

In addition to that, the B&B is perfectly situated, accross the street from the port where you can catch ferries to Capri, the Amalfi coast and many more destinations. Also accross the street is the bus station to Pompeya.
And it is also ideally situated to visit Naples (5 min walk to the Castel Nuovo, 15 to the old town and 20 from the museum) and there are buses to everywhere right in front of the hotel.

We really really recommend it and if we ever go back to Naples we won't think twice....

The service we received from the owner (Giancarlo) was superb. He was there to meet us when we arrived as there was no reception and it is very clear he has thought about the whole customer experience. The apartment was self-catering with a good size clean bathroom bedroom with kitchen area – our room had balcony overlooking the port. Giancarlo had prepared several documents to help us (and other travellers) find our way around the city even down to the fact he had listed local restaurants with average prices, which helped us immensely as we were on a tight budget.

Unfortunately there was a lot of work going on in the city, which gave the impression the whole place was upside down. Roads being dug up everywhere. Shame really as this did spoil it a little bit. I would also recommend that if you want to visit the museum, check that all exhibitions open as we found nearly half closed (no reason given – just locked doors)

Overall the apartment was brilliant and the service was great. The location was perfect for getting to Capri, Pompeii, etc.
