“Great breakfast, lovely staff, good location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 13, 2013

We had a very good experience in naples and the hotel was very much part of it. From the hotel you could walk to many attractive sights including the fabulous archeological museum. The port for the ferries to ischia and Capri is not far away.
The breakfast is the best I have had in any hotel. All together a first class experience. I have recommended to my friends and will continue to do so. Thanks to the very helpful staff.

The location of the hotel is a real advantage , it is very close to the downtown and all our guests can visit the sights just by walking. In addition to this, we make our best to satisfy any possible request. We hope you will come back again. Best regards.

I stayed several nights at the Palazzo Turchini and was pleasantly surprised. The history of the building is most interesting. It is easy walking distance to many important historical sites, public transportation, great restaurants, shops, markets, and the fascinating narrow hillside streets where the "real" Neopolitans live. My room had a little balcony directly overlooking a street with heavy 24 hour traffic and a busy bus stop below. I loved the hustle and busy of a vibrant city, but cannot deny that it was noisy to the extent that I couldn't sleep with the balcony doors ajar. The view was a mixture of many things -- ancient church, new construction sites, palace, beautiful old fountain, outdoor restaurants, interspersed with kind of drab appearing apartments. Bathroom small but modern. The staff is what made my stay especially pleasant, as they assisted me at every turn with patience and good humor. I did hear from other guests that there are some rooms that are less than satisfactory, one without a window, another over the kitchen which was very noisy when the breakfast crew arrived very early in the a.m. Breakfasts at the Palazzo Turchini offered a wide variety of options to suit every nationality! All in all, I felt very comfortable and safe, and would stay there again.

We arrived at the Turchini and were a bit apprehensive with all the building work we'd passed on the way from the port. Once inside the hotel we felt much at ease as the room and the hotel were certainly much improved from the surrounding area. The receptionist was most helpful and gave us some directions and suggestions for a quick tour of the area. As we were only here for the one night we decided to talk a walk around the castle and sea front area, we were not disappointed. We turned left and had quick snack and drink at the restaurant next door, Restaurant a Medina if I recall, beautiful pizza and not too pricey, unlike the restaurants we had visited earlier in the week in Capri. We then carried on past the castle and into the Galleria Umberto I, a breath taking gallery of shops and cafes, we then went onto the Via Toledo, a pedestrian street behind the galleria, any amount of shops and wonderful side streets to meander around. After what seemed ages we decided to head back to the hotel and change for evening. We then again headed left from the hotel but this time carried on past the Teatro San Carlo onto the piazza Plebiscio and the Palazzo Reale, again stunning architecture, we then strolled for a while along the see front, taking in some of the ferries heading out to the islands and Cruise ships heading into the med, before turning back and heading for one of the local eateries in the side streets off the via Toledo. The first we tried was so busy a queue was forming outside, as it turned this worked to our advantage, we moved further up the Via Sergente Maggiore to the Nu Murzill Sapurito restaurant. Don't be put off by the exterior, the food was superb and service was tremendous. After finishing the meal we took a walk back towards the hotel, we passed the hotel and checked out the area to the right, here we found several other restaurants, all looked amazing and menus were mouthwatering. we stopped in at the Trattoria Pizzeria Ciro a Medina for a refreshing glass of wine, the smell of the pizzas being cooked made our mouths water. Back to the hotel and all too soon it was time to leave for the airport. The city of Naples is by far not the cleanest of cities we have visited but the buildings and characters of the city have ensured that we will be making a return visit, next time we hope to have time to take in more of the centre of the city with it's many churches and public buildings

Room Tip: Not all rooms have a window although ours had two they both looked out onto an enclosed area, don...

The hotel was great given the area. The room was sufficient for what we needed for the night. The staff was very hospitable. It was clean and the breakfast was good too. No major complaints but I would not return to Naples given the experiences I had in other Italian cities. Lots of graffiti and terrible drivers.

We stayed 2 nights here, for convenience of close proximity Palazzo Plebeschito and other sights. The 1st night were in "Economy" room because it was the only one available. The room had no windows and little light and the bathroom shower created a flood on the floor. Much better was the 2nd night in an upgraded room which was a big improvement, especially in the bathroom. Hotel is in a great location close to attractions, restaurants, and public transport. Staff was friendly, though they did forget a few things we asked, but were very helpful to hold our luggage while we were out.

Room Tip: Don't choose Economy unless absolutely necessary; spend more for a larger room with more light a...

The reviews make this place seem a little overrated. For a 4-star hotel I would have expected more. There isn't a restaurant in it. We had a junior suite on the 2nd floor facing Via Medina. The room was clean, well stocked. Shower was small (and I'm used to small showers). The shower door wouldn't open all the way since the bidet partially blocked it. Not a huge deal, we got in which is all that matters. The front desk was helpful but not overly friendly. I didn't feel very safe, but that could be Naples, not the hotel. For the price, I think we could have stayed somewhere else with more amenities. I have to give credit for the free Wi-Fi in the room (that's always a plus in Europe) but wouldn't recommend and probably wouldn't stay again. With that said, it wasn't a bad hotel, just not memorable. Breakfast was standard with meats, breads, eggs, fruit juice, baked goods, etc.

Room Tip: Get a room facing Via Medina. Good people watching.

The hotel is ideally situated on major bus lines, a few blocks from the ferries, and a short walk to the Royal Palace, the Opera House and lots of good restaurants and other attractions. Our room was fairly large and comfortable with a balcony overlooking a beautiful fountain; the street was noisy with the windows open, but fine when they were closed. The breakfast was ample and of good quality, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
