Very nice 4* hotel in a great location. Located along a main shopping area of Naples and close to harbor and marine park, central bus stops (5 min), funicular (10 min) and metro stop (10 min). On saturday night, we wandered out the door to the right and into an area of very active local nightlife (bars teeming with young people with outdoor seating) within a few blocks. Generally, Naples is not an affluent city but this is definitely one of the more upscale areas. Our room was beautifully appointed and VERY QUIET. There was not wireless internet but there was a computer with free internet in the lower level. The breakfast room was well decorated and there were 4 selections of fresh, chopped fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, delicious pastries, cheeses, sliced meats, fruit tart and sweet cakes, 3 selections of fresh juices, freshly brewed coffees including decaf, etc. The staff was very helpful, spoke good English and pointed out good restaurants. Beware of pick pockets in crowded buses and purse snatchers on scooters. We traveled the metro when possible, it appeared to be safer and faster. The reasonably priced 3 or 7 day Antecard made transportation and exhibitions/museums in Naples and the train ride to Pompei and Erculano free .

We had to stay in Naples for one night for the flight out the following morning. Given so many bad comments on the city of Naples, I decided I have to open the wallet a little more to find a hotel in a safer neighbourhood. (Generally speaking I am more of a value traveller.)

Given we had little time there and the last thing we want is to get mugged on our last day of our vacation, I supposed the hotel did the job. Relatively safe location away from the chaotic city. Most of the tourist sites are a short walk away. Decent choice of restaurants in the area. The front desk was friendly and gave me advise on where is safe to take a walk around the hotel.

The room is clean and comfortable. There is no view and the price is a little (in my humble opinion) on the expensive side.

I would probably stay there again if I have to be in Naples for a short time.

Nice hotel - room and breakfast very average but its clean and situated in the trendy, smart bit of Naples. All the posh shops and nice bars / restaurants are on its doorstep.
Very close to one of the best restaurants (called Jap One) I've ever eaten in (it's sushi).
A general point on Naples itself - don't take a handbag / ruck sack out with you - keep low profile - there are lots of scooters just waiting to take the opportunity to steal it.

We booked the Palazzo Alabardieri after reading the reviews upon Trip Advisor. Having never been to Naples before and having read of the 'local difficulties' over litter and petty crime we were a little unsure of what to xpect. However, our anxieties were soon dispelled by a warm reception and very friendly staff on arrival at the Alabardieri. They gave us a free upgrade (as it was our first visit) and the porter took our luggage to the room. Upon our return, prior to our first venture out, the receptionist presented us with a fee map upon which he highlighed areas of interest and places to eat. The breakfasts were fabulous - a selection of fresh fruit, cakes, breads, cereals and cold meats. Plus as much tea or coffee as required. Too much for one sitting! We were greeted each time we passed reception and the air conditioning both in the foyer and in the room was a wonderful escape from the heat outside. All in all a fabulous place in a great location (handy for ports, town shopping and local eateries - you must try Umberto and the garden pizzeria round the corner!). Yes, we would stay there again!

my wife and i stayed seven days in july at Palazzo Alabardieri, having never stayed in Naples. it is located a few paces from Piazza dei Martiri which is known as the parlor of naples by the locals. all the best most famous shops and restaurants and night life are steps from Alabardieri. top service, breakfast, rooms, comfort, mattress and pillows, biggest bathroom in any hotel i've stayed in. free internet access. always felt safe inside and outside. great people in a fabulous magical place, i would live there if i had a huge income. best pizza at matozzi, umberto, margherita. most shops close in the early afternoon to re-open at 4 or 5 pm. dinner crowd starts at 10pm at most places. cab stand 50 yards away, agree before you depart and no problems. while we were there, Alabardieri appeared on the front page of the travel section of the sunday washington post. among guests, we saw, singles, families, businessmen, all ages. the whole staff smiles and welcomes you sincerely.

This hotel was booked on a whim and the little research paid off. Naples is very dirty and dangerous, however r this hotel is in a good part of Naples, with great shopping and restaurants. We only stayed for one night, however if you want to explore Naples, this hotel is ideal as the location and accommodation is one of the best in Naples.
The room in beautiful will attention to detail through out the hotel, which is tactfully restored. The beds were comfortable and everything was clean.
Breakfast is excellent with plenty of variety which is not common for Italy. The people at the front desk were informative and helpful. I would defiantly stay at the hotel again.

Palazzo Alabardieri was our first stop on the way to a 2-week Amalfi Coast vacation. The hotel provided an excellent stopover after our long flight(s) from El Paso. The room we had was very nice, with the nicest bathroom of any on our trip. The hotel staff was courteous and helped us find a nice restaurant nearby for dinner (Umberto's). Breakfast the following morning was very good!

The hotel's lobby and breakfast area are were also very nice, and the area surrounding the hotel was where the high-end designers’ shops were (Ralph Lauren, Prada, Gucci, etc.). We didn’t shop in any of these stores (although I saw a nice Ralph Lauren shirt I liked for abut $280), but at least the area was clean.

And being clean in Naples is no small feat – the garbage collectors have been on strike there since December! There are huge piles of garbage all over the city and in the surrounding countryside, so before spending any time in Naples, I would recommend that you check to see that this issue has been resolved.

If you do plan a trip to Naples, you can't go wrong with Palazzo Alabardieri!
