“excellent hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2013

we liked the hotel very much. Very centrally located... Very pleasant staff (smiling, knowledgeable, always ready to help). Our room was large and comfortable, quiet, calm, clean

my only concerns were the light (too many little lamps everywhere -computer, heating, etc...) that prevented me to fall asleep as fast as I wish I could

and we missed a user's guide to use the phone as well as the air-conditionning :-)

but this is a very tiny nuisance compared to the real pleasure we had to stay at Hotel del Golfo and we certainly will book there again for our next stay in Naples and will recommend it warmly to all our friends and acquaintances

Room Tip: our room opened on the street but it was so calm that it was not even a problem..

the hotel is well situated in the center of the town, calm, and recently nicely renovated (marble floors!). Friendly welcome, spacious rooms with high ceilings, good lighting (!); in the intermediate season (feb/march) the heating does not seem to work very well, but with two blankets its ok.
The bathroom was a bit dark and somber, no place (shelf) to put your things. Overall, a great price/quality ratio, if you don't need a typical american breakfast. at least a great espresso and a chocolat filled croissant will start your day; Italians just don't know how to make good bread.

Spacious clean rooms, walking distance from all the sights and easy to get to from the train station and airport. Can be a little noises at night if the windows are open and don't expect a nice view from your window! Excellent for seeing Naples on a budget.

A clean, modern hotel with excellent rooms and bathrooms located in a great part of Naples. Staff was either dismissive, rude, or totally incompetent. For example, we had an issue with the room safe on our final night and the night clerk refused to help. The safe would not open for some reason. We had our passports, tickets, etc. in the room safe and were leaving early in the morning. The night staff claimed the manager was totally unavailable and we had to wait to morning for the manager to come in and give us the code, which means we would have missed our flight. He seemed unconcerned. I had to Google how to crack a hotel safe, so in case you need it, the override for the room safes is: 123456#.

Room Tip: If you care about service, go someplace else.

Plus: Location is excellent; Room is modern and nice; Breakfest is good;
Bad: No hot water in shower; wi-fi did not work in room (2 trys); and Front Desk (apparent owner) was uninterested in hot water problem. With a nicer front desk, I would return. But given the unpleasant demeanor, I would rather give my money to others.

My family and I (2 adults, 2 children - 9 and 12 yrs) stayed here at the beginning of August. We found the hotel relatively easily - arrived by train and then took the public bus. The hotel is nothing special from the outside but the room we had was really nice. It was huge (especially for Europe), very clean and the air conditioning worked well. The location is convenient for walking to the waterfront, etc. The staff was very helpful when asked for information, directions, etc.

Good BUDGET hotel located right in the heart of the historic district. This is a no frills hotel but it is clean, safe and super convenient. It is within walking distance of Porto Beverello (convenient if you are arriving by ferry). The Alibus Airport bus also stops right in front of the port (convenient if you are arriving by plane). You can easily walk from the ferry/Alibus to the hotel.

NOTE: Ignore Metro Dante reference – it does not stop anywhere near the hotel. Also, that metro line does not go to Stazione Centrale/Piazza Garibaldi.

Walking directions from Ferry/Alibus: Keep the Castle Nuevo on your left, walk one block towards Banco de Napoli. Cross Corso Christopher Columbo towards the bank. Keeping the bank on your right, walk one block to Piazza Municipo. Turn right onto V. Agostino Depretis and walk straight towards the giant horse statue. At the horse statue, cross the large intersection towards another Banco de Napoli. Staying on the left side of the bank, walk one short block down Via S. Asperero to Sedile Di Porto. Hotel del Golfo is to the right.
