We stayed here for 4 nights at the beginning of January. When we read other reviews we panicked and were dreading arriving at this hotel and upon arrival it did seem rough, however we were not bothered by anyone, did not find people staring at us in the square of feel threatened by anyone. There are lots of lovely places to eat in this area and close to the shopping districts (L' Antica Pizzeria da Michele is a must and you can walk there in around 10 mins. It's down a side road so use a map), we also went to the Tunnel Borbonico - The Bourbon Tunnel Museum, this is another must. Use your wits about you when carrying handbags and being out late at nit, but if you want to be a 5 minute walk from the train station and stay in a clean, well priced hotel then this is it. Breakfast was also lovely, an assortment of pastries and make your own toasties.

The only good part about the hotel area is that it is within walking distance to the train station. Other than that it is very scary and dangerous (I was warned by local residents) at night. Shops in the area start closing at 8pm so I would not venture on to the small streets if walking at night. Even walking during the day can be intimidating given that the locals hanging around the area are not people you really want to start a conversation with or ask for directions.

The hotel itself is clean. I was given a non-smoking room on the third floor overlooking the small plaza. With the windows shut I could not hear much of the noise pollution on the street, which can be very loud at night.

The room was clean and very basic. The double bed was quite comfortable. The hotel provided good sleeping experience for a quick one night stay. Service was good, however, don't expect too much. Internet connection was free, just ask for it when you checkin. Breakfast is on the 5th floor and was basic with mostly pastries and cold cuts.

If you are vacationing in Naples I highly suggest staying at a hotel within the historic area. For a quick overnight stay and for train station access this is a great hotel. Just don't stay out too late at night.

Plaza is a pleasant hotel right in the heart of Naples amidst the hustle and bustle of the city. The breakfast room allows in plenty of natural light and gives a good view, which all makes for a nice start to the day.

Stayed here as a base and it's close to the central station. The staff are polite and speak good English. It's good for the price, comfy beds, clean but breakfast was a bit dry and not that good.
The area is downtown Naples and it's poverty at its worst, it's full of shady characters sloping around looking like they are waiting to mug someone. It's like arriving in a third world country.
If you are happy to walk around in a hoody to blend in then you will be ok.
Dangerous area, keep your money in your shoes and keep streetwise. If you leave here not having been mugged then I would say it's your lucky day.

I stayed at this hotel in September 2013, at a very good rate. Hotel is clean, modern, safe and very conveniently located to Central Station and a major bus hub. Very good as a base for seeing Napoli and taking day trips within the region (Pompeii, Paestum, Pozzuoli, Certosa di San Martino). Breakfast was included and very satisfactory, it included lots of local produce and products.
