“Excellent Hotel in Naples”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 11, 2012

We have just returned from Naples, which can be a huge culture shock, it is an unkempt place littered with rubbish and the smell is awful. The crown in the jewel is this lovely hotel with the most wonderful and helpful staff, the rooms are clean and airy and noise free, the breakfast was good and nothing was too much trouble for the staff to help and guide as and when you needed it. Be wary of the taxis from Naples Airport we were not vigilant enough to ask a price and got ripped off for a trip that should have been 20 Euro's we were charged 50. The hotel is in a great area for the station to travel to Pompeii/Ercoland. Opposite the Hotel is a gem of a restaurant called Mimi's the hotel use this for their customers do ask them about it.

This hotel is centrally located in Naples near Gadi Baldi. Rooms are nice and clean with all basic amenities. Staff is also nice by Naples standards. Lot of restaurants and bakery nearby to go. Very near to Napoli Termini and bus stands are also nearby. Near to the main shopping area of Naples. The breakfast served is amazing. Overall a good hotel.

Room Tip: Higher floor with view of the market in front

I don't know why most of the reviews about this hotel state it to be unsafe and dodgy, because I found it perfectly safe and even the piazza in front of it was devoid of any filth and dirt unlike what's been mentioned in most reviews over here. Agreed, the people hanging around the area late night did seem a bit shady but there was always a police car parked around in the night, surely to prevent any kind of reprehensible activities which Naples is notorious for. But then, being already aware about Naples' reputation as the crime-capital of Italy, we made sure that we didn't stay out later than midnight and were always careful wherever we went.
Regarding the hotel, it was simply superb value for money and the breakfast was certainly a great supplement for the price we paid. Very conveniently located nearby to the central station, its an excellent base if one is interested in exploring nearby places like Pompeii, Herculaneum, Sorrento, Mount Vesuvius, Amalfi Coast, etc.
Both the room and the bathroom were quite spacious and comfortable; and the glass door of the balcony was definitely sound-proof because there was absolutely no noise from the outside in the night and we could sleep peacefully.
A special mention about the staff: everyone was quite polite and friendly; the guy at the front desk was especially courteous and even granted us early check-in.
It was undoubtedly a memorable stay and I will certainly visit again.

This was our very special vacation to Italy; once in 15 years and it was horrendous.
I pulled up to the hotel to a piazza plaza filled with trash, police, cars and homeless people sorting through the trash. I was afraid to open the car door to enter the hotel with my daughter. Upon entering, I told the front desk man I was afraid to stay there with my daughter and did not feel safe; he said too bad as I already had paid for it.. He did not help to offset my fears or concerns at all...Just gave me the room key..Extremely poor customer service and I am in the hospitality field. I stayed the night as it was late and left in the morning. I booked the room for five days but stayed just one. Is there anyone at booking.com that can help me.

Arrived at 10:30pm from Rome, case had been destroyed by airport baggage handlers and the contents were bursting out inside a large plastic bag so we had to get to the hotel asap. I knew the area around the station was very dodgy after dark so we took a taxi. We were dropped off outside the hotel by an un-licensed bandit who extorted €20 from us for a 300m ride! Not a good start to our stay in naples!

The hotel was very welcoming and our room had been held and was ready for us. There are 2 lifts in the hotel although we didn't know it. The main lift is through the lobby and is a regular size. The other is a tiny 2 person (or me and 2 cases) size one in the stairwell. Worked fine but my wife decided to walk the 2 floors to our room.

The room had been upgraded to a superior one as I am a BW diamond guest. It was ok, fairly small and had a view out over the square in front of the hotel. The air con. worked fine but the showerhead in the bathroom was broken and just drooped. Also there was black mould around the corner shower cubicle and the drain from the shower was partially blocked. You could only take a 1 min. max shower before the shower tray was full. I tried pumping the drain with my foot but when a load of black gunk came out of it, I decided not to continue!

We awoke about 7:30am and looked out of the windo. The square in front of the hotel looked like a refugee camp, a impromptu flea market had been set up selling old clothes and shoes and used household items. A 'lady of the night' was pacing up and down outside the hotel, with a very low cut top with her wares on display, leaning forward to chat to the drivers of slow moving traffic in front of the hotel.

Breakfast was on the 5th floor roof terrace and was pretty poor for this class of hotel, I have had better in cheap French motel chains. The fruit juice tasted like it was made from powder and the coffee was from a pump thermos jug. There were pastries, hard boiled eggs etc. but VERY basic. By the time we had finished breakfast, the 'market' had gone, 2 police cars were present and a small army of street cleaners were busy cleaning up the litter and the cast offs. The 'lady' was till there, looking for business!!

The saving grace for the hotel was the nearnes to the Central station and the staff. They were all polite and helpful, when we showed them our wrecked case, they directed us to a street a few blocks away that was full of street vendors selling luggage. The walk to the station in daylight was ok but still not a great area to walk through towing 2 cases. I wouldn't attempt it after dark!!

Room Tip: Try and get a room facing the square at the front of the hotel,it's apparently the best view, if...

The hotel itself was a clean and friendly with a spacious public area away from the reception which is close to the entrance and street. The lone receptionist seemed busy continuously answering phones and dealing with his internationally speaking guests but remained polite and helpful.
The rooms are small but comfortable with what you would expect. Our balcony looked out on to the busy and noisy road below however the soundproof windows did an excellent job and you don't hear the shouting when closed.

The breakfast area is situated on the top 5th floor of this hotel and was the continental breakfast which all European hotels offer. Clean and a good standard.
The hotel was good but it's the location which although convenient to the train station has the flip side of being in a area which I can only describe as run down and very dirty. Street vendors every 10 yards and rubbish and boxes lying around everywhere. I would even describe the area as unnerving and personal safety would be the top agenda. Lone travellers to this area please note.
