Owner description: Around the origin of our Catacombs much has been discussed, they were simpleburial and never were quarries or underground ways; the first note of the monumentis repeated since the death of St. Agrippino our bishop in the II century, when hisbody was buried there in a noble tomb. Many miracles the saint operated by thetomb, so it became a place of reverence and neapolitan wished to be buried in thatplace.

One of the most interesting sites in Naples. A lot more interesting than the churches. Go there by foot only

“OM Gracious - young people giving back”
Reviewed February 15, 2013

The history was rich and the exhibits were magnificant. The Catacombes are a project of local young people who are restoring the history and giving jobs and time back to a depressed neighborhood. Tough walk to find it but well worth the walk and the time. Do not miss it.

“107 steps to wonderful history”
Reviewed February 15, 2013 via mobile

The catacombs are wide and airey, so no worries about claustraphobia. The guide gave info in Italian and English. The restoration is a project of young local people and their passion is evident. A wonderful project and a wonderful tour!

“Amazing”
Reviewed December 4, 2012

The oldest, and therefore the most well-known of Naples’ ancient catacombs is the Catacombe di San Gennaro, from the 2nd century. It is decorated with early Christian Frescoes, tombs, and the sense of dark mystery that pervades its winding corridors makes it well worth a visit.
I want to express my thanks to Adele, our tour guide, for her outstanding explanations during the sightseeing walk through the catacombs. She was very informative and knowledgeable and we really enjoyed the visit. If you ever come to Naples, this place is highly recommended.

“Beautiful Church and very rich place”
Reviewed December 1, 2012

Rich place, with very beautiful sculptures with enormous historic value. Not so easy to access in this messy city, but a place you should visit if you are in Naples.
