Budget hotel but clean with very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was basic but adequate and the evening meal was good. The location could be of concern to some, however as it is close to Piazza Garibaldi which, at night, is full of kerb crawlers. But it is also very close to the main railway station (where you can also find car rentals and a tourist information office) and the metro. Many buses stop in the Piazza (including the airport bus). For a cheap beer try the Cafe Angola nearby.

Quite smart considering location, friendly helpful staff - room basic - clean (rather dark). The breakfast room is under ground and could do with refurbishment. It is good value for money.

It suffers from its location - be careful outside esp. near train station - I saw a guy on a scooter attempt to steal a lady's hand bag in broad daylight.

When I read all the reviews about the hotel, I was a little in doubt whether we had chosen the right place to stay in Naples. It all turned out not to be correct. The hotel is located in a commercial street, very close to the station (which is modern, clean and spacious) and you can easily access metro, buses and the regional trains. There is, of course, street merchants around and also a lot of litter which people simply drop (a disaster). When we returned in the evening to our cosy room, decorated with a Caravaggio fresco, we felt safe. The room was simple, but efficient. It had wooden floors (no carpets, luckily), the bed was ok, and we had all we needed. It was a quiet room to the yard (which looks terrible), but you could close the window in January. Breakfast is Italian style, but ok. The hotel is really good value for money. We enjoyed our stay in this hotel and would come back if we planned to go to Naples again.

My wife and I are physicians who travel internationally with our children, 4-5 times yearly. We like to stay at good value hotels that are safe with central location and a breakfast to fill the kids before a day of sight seeing. The Grand Hotel Europa has all of the above. They also have a family room with extra space for a reasonable price. However, the rooms are a little thread bare. Worn wood floors without throw rugs, thin mattresses with plastic bed wetting protectors. The towels are thin enough to be used as linen napkins.
Breakfast was the very basic spread typical at budget hotels.
The location is great for train travel and seeing the "old city". Naples is a dirty, nasty city.
If you are coming from Rome to see Pompeii, don't bother with an overnight visit to see Naples. (We did and waisted time and money)
As a side note. Naples pizza was not that different that pizza anywhere else in Italy.

The hotel is easily affordable and accessible, close to bus, metro and train routes. It's fairly central and all of Naples can easily be got to - a great base for exploring the city and surrounding area.
Naples itself is maybe a little scruffy in the eyes of some travellers with higher standards, however entering the hotel is like stepping into a different world.
Great restaurant and affordable bar, friendly and helpful staff with good knowledge of how to get to tourist attractions and times of buses.
Rooms aren't huge, but easily big enough, especially when with so much to explore in Naples, you won't be spending a huge ammount of time in your room.

The hotel is very close to the main Garibaldi square which is quite chaotic with traffic and crowds everywhere, the pavements are strewn with litter and street traders trying to sell their goods.Having said that the hotel is in an excellent position within 100m of main rail links, and ideal for the airport, and we never felt threatened wandering around The rooms are a decent size and are clean with plenty of towels and hot water, and although we had a room next to a busy street we managed to get a decent nights sleep. The staff are very helpful and friendly, and although the breakfast is very basic it does the job. All in all good value for money

I thought the hotel was great , clean ,good food, and freindly staff i would recomend it to anyone . Unfortunatly the area is horrible run down and rough in the extreme, you could not pay me to visit naples again. The city has good travel links and the hotel is just over the road from the main line station so you can get around during the day with ease . Take my advice though Dont wander to far at night and mind you dont trip over one of the many beggers sleeping rough close by the station .

I like your title!!

Yes we are an oasis in the area of the train station...couse we offer to our guests good traditional food, our napolitan kindness, and all it's possible to organize in town or in Naples's area.

Unfortunelly in the train station's square there are few sites that makes the area so crowed and nosie, but in one year all will be ended, nice and clean with a new underground, and a big mall for shopping !!!

So come soon again in NAPOLI
