The staff are extremely friendly, helpful, and multilingual. Literally a 5 min walk from the train station. I love the colors in this hostel. Internet connection was good in the main lobby, none in the rooms. The showers have some typical EU problems but the water is hot and they are kept clean. The kitchen facility is very good. The owner greeted us with cafe, provided us with discount coupons to various locations we wanted to see, and also provided maps and directions. Naples is not my favorite city as it is not clean, but it is the best location for seeing Pompeii, Ercolano, and for climbing Vesuvio. If I go to Naples again, I will definitely be staying at this hostel.

Room Tip: Private rooms can be had if you are willing to pay for more than one person. I found it worth the ex...

The hostel is in a great position near to the central rail station, next to one shopping street in Naples, and with easy access to all the transport for the main touristic attractions! The staff is nice and helpful, and the hostel has a furnished kitchen to cook your own meals! Plus there is a very good bakery of traditional sweets near by where to shop!

my girlfriend and I speak very highly of this hostel. we arrived without a reservation on a friday night and Alfredo was extremely accomodating. he fit us into a 4 bed ensuite dorm which was a good size, with lockers and small balcony. Alfredo then took time to sit us down and give us the run down on Napoli, the amalfi coast, pompeii and capri. Great location next to train stations, even though the local area is hectic and an immediate shock to the senses, it is safe as long as you are smart. Hostel is very clean and organised and has a good sized kitchen. And after travelling through Italy, this is one of the cheapest hostels you will find.

We were there as they were finishing there remodel of the place. It will be a great hostel. The price was a little pricey for not being done or ready when we arrived and for putting us in a 6 not a 5 but i enjoyed it . The staff were really friendly and very helpful. The main guy was soo accomadating and made us feel at home. the place was clean and you forgot you were in a dirty city (the city is really gross) Definelty recommend

I don't recommend staying in Naples for any extended period of time; the city is filthy and should be used simply as a departure point for the Amalfi Coast. However, if you need to spend a night or two in the city, this is a perfectly adequate place to crash. It is near the airport shuttle and train station. Fredo, one of the main proprietors, is a sourpuss, but don't pay him any mind; the other staff members are very helpful. The facilities are clean and the water pressure in the bathrooms in strong. Breakfast is just toast, corn flakes and coffee, but enough to get you going. There is internet but only one computer, so competition is fierce for that; they could use another console.

The owner and his wife are very nice people, very friendly, helpfull, and made us feel welcomed and very safe in their hostel, in spite of all the bad things we heared about Napoli, and the train station area that is considered very dangerous. He gave us great directions of places to see and where to eat great neapolitan food.
The hostel is very near the trainstation, few minutes walking, and this location was very good for us, very clean and cozy.
I loved Napoli, the people are great, very warm and friendly, the sights are great, I liked it better than Rome!

Two uni friends and I stayed at Hostel Mancini at the end of September 2010. Originally booked for 2 nights, we ended up staying for 3 and the staff was able to accommodate us.

We were three in a room which had two single beds and a bunk bed, and ensuite bathroom. The room and bathroom were perfectly clean, beds were comfortable, and the room had a small terrace/balcony with french doors that opened up so that we could get a nice breeze.

The owner was fantastic, very friendly and more than happy to give us a suggested itinerary for our stay. He pointed out great restaurants (including the nearby Da Michele, birthplace of pizza and featured in Eat Pray Love - super cheap, and fantastic! Worth a visit!) and was also sure to warn us of the potential dangers of pickpockets/drive-by thieves on mopeds etc. Being three girls, he made sure that we weren't carrying handbags (thieves on mopeds slice the straps or the bottoms of the bags, grab your bag/stuff and speed off) and that we weren't out too late at night. At his suggestion, we went to Capri for the day and had a fantastic time.

The concerns that people have mentioned regarding the location are fairly accurate. While I wouldn't call it "ghetto", as someone did below, I would say it's not the greatest. But that's also in keeping with Naples as a whole - run down, not well lit, and lots of groups of men sitting on doorsteps after dinner talking about football together (and whistling/chatting at girls who pass by). I was never without my two friends, and together we felt safe. We never brought more than 50 EUR at a time with us, and kept our cameras (which aren't great anyways) attached to our wrists the whole time. I wouldn't recommend a solo female friend to go there alone at night, but I'd say the same about the city as a whole (not just the hostel) and during the day she'd be fine.

Free Wifi/WLAN was an added bonus. Breakfast, included, wasn't much but was better than nothing (bread/toast with jam, cereal and milk, coffee).

The one downside was the man who watched the front desk at night - he was rather strange (but since we were always three together, he didn't make us feel uncomfortable) and watched movies on his tv at very high volume. Our room was right across from the desk, and we could plainly hear every word of the movie from our room with the door shut. Thankfully, we'd all brought along ear plugs and were able to get to sleep without a problem.
