4.5 Okay it is not a 5 star hotel but I was so pleasantly surprised. For only 80 bucks on Expedia this was the perfect choice to stay right by the station. Room was re-done and bathroom newly refinished and pretty huge. They gave us a quiet room with no street noise, gave us a 4am wake up call and had our taxi waiting for us to leave for the airport. Computers with internet in the lobby to use and very friendly front desk help. Overall, I couldn't have asked for more.
Just do NOT walk around the neighborhood at all after dark.

Room Tip: Ask for quiet room

This hotel is very conveniently situated near to:- the train station, the bus station, the metro and the vesuvius circular railway. Next door is the social security office so has a lot of people hanging about during the day. Lots of litter and roadworks in Naples but they carrying out a lot of work to be ready for the Americas' cup. The room was roomy and clean but very dated. the wallpaper, on the walls, was becoming unstuck at the joins. The breakfast was great, mainly continental but plenty of choce and plenty of it. The staff were extremely pleasant and friendly. Value for money and convenience I would stay here again.

Dear guest,

The central railway station is a definitely strategic area for visiting the city and its surroundings, but it is certainly a bit chaotic. Currently there are also works in progress for the new underground ....
The city is evolving and this is a positive aspect!

The Ramada is an older property close to the Napoli Centrale train station. The area surrounding the hotel is dirty and run down industrial, but it is close to the train station which is a plus if you are traveling on the Metro or to other destinations within Italy.

As noted the hotel is older, but nicely maintained and clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful, in a way the hotel is an oasis in the middle of a busy, noisy, and somewhat dirty area. The room and bath were good sized and quiet. We arrived in the middle of the day, however, we did not venture out after dark based on comments from other travelers.

Dear guest,

thank you for your positive review. I just want to point out that ramada naples was born in June 2000. it sometimes happens to perceive the particular style of the hotel (art decò) as old.
Just a tip: next time feel free to enjoy Naples without being influenced by other reviewers.

Kind regards,

Which should I start with? Let's see...
1. No air conditioning according to some law they told me it can't be turned on in the rooms until May. Nice and cool in the lobby, halls, restaurant, etc. but none in the rooms.
2. Location. Very conveniently located next to the Naples main train station. However, it has to be one of the worst neighborhoods in town. Reminded me of a neighborhood in Tijuana, Mexico.
3. The free wifi in the public areas sucks, and there's really not too many places to sit down and work comfortably.
4. Wallpaper in the rooms needs to be replaced. Falling off at the seams in many places on all the walls.
5. No ice machine.
Pluses:
1. There is a nice gazebo area where one can work and might be able to get online if there's a signal up from the floor below.
2. A complimentary bottle of water in the room, but see #5 above.
3. Elevators (3) were working the days we were there.
4. Safe in room closet.
5. Walking distance to Naples Central Train Station, but see #2 above.
Unless you really need to stay at this location for any reason, I'd suggest passing it by for a better neighborhood in Naples. Oh, yes, at check in, the very nice young lady reminded us to watch for pickpockets any time of the day, and be leery about walking around after dark.

Room Tip: Probably want to choose a room in another neighborhood.

Dear Guest,

first of all thanks for sharing your opinion on Ramada Naples. From a first reading it seems that the location of the hotel had a negative impact on your general comment even if you remarked on its centrality and its functionality. It happens frequently also for the city because of its strong contrasts. Returning to your review:
1.the ignition of the air-conditioning is not bound by any law. Quite simply the extra ordinary heat of these days was not expected and the air conditioning system of a hotel does not start within a few minutes as at home (the conversion hot / cold requires at least two days). The air conditioning was not available in any department of the hotel. (there is only one big central machine)
2. Wi-fi free access is available throughout lobby, restaurant and bar, further to an internet point with two stations available for all our guests. According to me it is a high-value service. The lack of ice dispensing machines is only a cultural problem, you shall take this into account, when you leave your country.
4.I agree, that the wallpaper in some rooms needs to be replaced.
5.As for the instructions against pickpockets I think they are well known to everyone and always valid if you visit a big city; remembering these is only an act of attention towards the guest.
Kind regards,

Dear Guest,
thank you for sharing your review. Anyway, if I have to be honest, I do not know how to consider it: it seems that you were non satisfied during your stay here at Ramada but, at the same time, you say that you would choose us again for another possible stay.
What really surprised me is your consideration about food: we give primary importance to Food & Beverage, our rich and varied breakfast is one of our strenghts, that's way your use of the words "inedible" and "terrible" sounds absolutely inappropriate to me (and other reviews can confirm my opinion).
Regarding our location, you will agree with me that all major cities in the world show some negative points; maybe Naples is too dirty and chaotic for your standards, but it is a subjective evaluation.
I hope to welcome you again at Ramada Naples

We arrived in Naples with no hotel reservation, and this is what we could find within our price range. We had a car, so the safe parking next to the hotel was good. The neighborhood seems OK, just use you common sense at night. Location is good, close to the train station. Rooms where clean and nice, beds comfortable. I see from other reviewers that they were not pleased with the breakfast. We liked it and thought the breakfast was good with breads, hams, cheeses, fruits and pastries. Better selection than many other hotels in Italy within this price range. Wending machine for cold drinks and beer in the hallway. If back in Naples on the same budget, I would stay here again.

We chose to stay in a branded hotel in Naples near the local transportation. We stayed for 4 nights in February. I had read the reports of the bad area, which must not be underestimated.
HOTEL:
The hotel although clean was not 4 star did not match the description on the Ramada website and staff varied form very helpful (on reception) to down right rude (in the dining room).
We choose a superior room knowing how small rooms are in European hotels. The website described the rooms as having a sitting area – which was actually one chair in the corner of the room. Air conditioning –didn’t work in the room it even got too warm in February so check that when you get allocated your room. Internet access is 9 euros for 24 hours. There is one PC in the lobby, which has free Internet access and a printer. Bath robes were not supplied. The bed was hard my partner has come home with a bad back!
The room was in need of re-decoration, dirty walls and pencil marks/writing and wallpaper falling off. Other than that is was clean as was the bathroom. We had a room at the front of the hotel on the 6th floor (top floor) and to get to sleep you had to contend with – planes flying over, the trains from two stations going up and down, traffic on the busy road below piping horns and locals shouting and the TV in the next room as the sound proofing is not good. A sound proofed room means it has double glazing which stands no chance of blocking out all of the noise.
The included breakfast had a very good range of foods for a continental breakfast the cooked breakfast was boiled potatoes, scrambled egg and near raw bacon. There was no room check when you went down for breakfast a waiter from a distance just pointed at the table. Tables were not cleared until the last day when a very rude male waiter lent across us several times as we were trying to eat to pick up the dishes, no eye contact, no excuse me. We stared at him in disbelieve at his total lack of manors.
AREA: -
The area was as bad if not worse than reports I have read. Streets are dirty and everything covered in graffiti. Very few footpaths. Groups of men hanging around watching people. We were warned by the reception staff that the public transportation system has lots of pick pockets but if you use a taxi they try to rip you off. Fares are shown inside the taxi’s on a chart so make sure you only pay the exact fare. The fare from the Ramada (near the railway station) is 16 euros to the airport. From the harbour area to the main station is 11 euros. (not 15 that they tried to charge us). Always agree the fare BEFORE you get into the taxi. The Circumvesuviana station (local railway) is 30 seconds across the road, but take care of your belongings. It is cheap, hence it’s condition I would expect. The trains are dirty and covered in graffiti. The seating is plastic chairs. Very basic. But is gets you to Pompeii Scavi (for the ruins) (2 euro each way) in about 40 minutes and to Sorrento in about 1:08. (4 euro each way)

Room Tip: If you don't like noise ask for a room at the back of the hotel and check that the aircon works...

Dear Guest,

Too bad to be true. It happens to see everything negatively if you're not willing or used to travel around the world. For instance, in which major cities there are no problems such as pick-pockets or dishonest taxi drivers? And what to expect from a subway that connects Naples to Sorrento for just 2 €? Same consideration regarding the hotel with a few rooms (on 6th floor) that need to be re-decorated. Some examples: the superior rooms have a larger surface area as well as an additional snack table with chairs - the air conditioning is not available in February (also in Italy it is cold)- trains (200 meters away) and the planes stop travelling at 11.00PM ensuring a peaceful sleep, especially for those staying on the sixth floor - our breakfast buffet in addition to the raw bacon (overcooked according to me) offers savory pastries, quiches, vegetables, cakes, pies, crepes, sausages .......
I hope to have provided an alternative interpretation of your review to all those who will read it.

Kind regards.
