“Service Made the Difference”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

So the hotel is very "nice" but the service by the front desk was BEYOND exceptional. It began with a package that I had shipped via FedEx from the US...a nightmare ensued and a nice gentleman named Luca stepped in to help...for HOURS! He called Milan which is where the package was sent, and for hours helped me with the logistics of getting the package to clear customs including helping me with all of the forms I need to fill out, getting me to a bank and then making the payment at the post office. The rest of the trip, he and another colleague Anna would often walk about of the hotel and down the street to direct us to a restaurant or store. They always asked the following day "how was the meal?" or "what's the news on your package?" I'm so grateful for their help.
The bed was very uncomfortable. I stayed in two different rooms, the first look out directly into another building and into someones apartment...can you say creepy? So Anna switched me to the top floor with a nicer view when a room was available. The rooms are very clean and the bathrooms are as well (very important). The view for breakfast was a plus considering it could have been in a closed in small room. It was nice to start the day off with a view of the mountains and the sea...
The gentlemen at the bar were attentive and very polite as well.

Room Tip: ask for a VIEW before your stay!! Higher units above 8th floor. Sea side or front of hotel.

The hotel is close to the port and is a smaller Rennaisance/Marriot chain then you would expect but the service is just as good. Surprisingly, they have room service until late hours which is not the norm in most European hotels. Also, prices for food are average. Hotel is clean with good amenities. Walls are very thin, you can even hear the neighbors turning on the lights! Anna, the general manager was EXTREMELY accomodating and helpful. The rooftop view is amazing and impressive of Mt. Vesuvius. Breakfast is included and is a great spread.

I stayed here for 2 nights mid week on business and really enjoyed myself. The room was large, clean and well appointed and although my view was of the adjacent buildings, many of the rooms must have great views accross the bay. The lobby and bar are great and breakfast on the roof terrace was brilliant. The only slight disappointment was lack of wifi in the rooms which is almost unthinkable for a large modern city centre hotel. the area immediatly outside the hotel are backstreets but great shopping, bars and restaurants are all a stone's throw away. I will be back.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view

this property met the criteria we sought of being centrally located. our room was very nice, the lobby was great. breakfast was as good as we found the rest of our 2 week stay in Italy which is to say not what we are accustomed to but we weren't in our country. we didn't go to Italy for pancakes and waffles or fried eggs. service at breakfast was good and we loved the coffee brewed fresh for each order. the only negatives were that the property is more of a business travelers property than we would've liked and bigger too. there were several large groups in and around and they seemed to monopolize the front desk, computer etc. there was a bar in the lobby which we retired to after dinner several nights but the service was awful and the server had a serious attitude problem. still a great spot to visit Naples from.

Hotel is what you expect from Marriott chain, it is clean and provides a nice large bed with a good service.

There is no executive lounge therefore breakfast was included for platinum members.

Breakfast is served at the top floor with a magnificent view over the Castle and the marina. This makes breakfast a must. There are are even olive trees at the top floor breakfast area which makes you feel like you are truly in beautiful Mediterranean.

Location is 15mins walk from Napoli's central train station and right next to the main street and the old town. We enjoyed our stay and would use it next time we visit the bohemian napoli.

Overall average hotel. Nice rooms...service was poor. None of the staff provide the type of welcome you would like or expect. There was no concierge, so we relied on the front desk to suggest an upscale restaurant. They sent us over an hour in traffic out of town; did not want to take the time to find a driving service; and encouraged a taxi that we thought we were lucky to survive. The impression we took from the overall staff was that they did not want to take time to help us or make us comfortable. Not sure if it was culturally based or a reflection of poor leadership but Marriott needs to look into it.

Room Tip: If you are a high level Marriott Rewards member, don't expect an upgrade.

Staying in Naples for an extended time on business made finding a decent hotel a priorty, and I was quite pleased with the Mediterraneo. It is conveniently located in the heart of Naples, very close to the harbor (and the ability to catch the ferry to Ischia and Capri), close to attractions, as well as shopping and restaurants. The room was decent sized and the bed provided a good night's sleep.

The staff was almost always quite friendly, and were able to answer all the questions or request I made during my stay. Additionally, included in the rate was a breakfast buffet on the roof which was quite delicious and offered some of the best views of Naples and its harbor I've ever seen.
