“Excellent Location”
Reviewed August 20, 2012

The location is excellent, just some meters from the sea, with a pedestrian frontline (no cars) and lots of restaurants surrounding. The view of the sea and the Castel d'uovo in front, with Vesuvio and Capri at the background is amazing.

There are actually two buildings. Do not expect a view to the sea unless you pay the full fare. I had a room in the "other" building. It was extremely hot outside the room and the decor of walls and corridors is non existent and abandoned. It requires some investment. The room (classic single room) was too small, particularly the bed. The housekeepers are extremely noisy. They must take care not to disturb guests sleeping from 8 am.

Internet is not free but fortunately you can get some free vouchers at the reception desk. They are not strict qith the number of vouchers (15 min only each).

The pool at the roof is at the beginning a bit disappointing. Do not expect to swim but just be in water, due to the small size of each of the basins. However, it is great to have this available and free in such a hot city like Naples. It is really worth !

The gym is small but enough to exercise if you want.

Napoli is an excellent point for excursions to Vesuvio, Capri, Erculano and Pompeii. In Naples I would recommend the tour Napoli Soterranea and a the street Gregorio Armeno with lots of souvenirs typical from Napoli and the famous and extraordinay crips

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your review, but it hurts to think that your stay in our hotel was not comfortable, we would like to inform you that the hotel has 24 types of rooms and many rooms have sea views. For the future we invite you to ask the Duty Manager who will be happy to change the room if there are some problems. About the hot temperatures, it is necessary to say that this summer has been one of the hottest in recent years. We apologize for the noise. Wellness and relaxation of our customers is important for us!
Voucher for free internet are 15 minutes using the internet point. For those who are 'equipped laptop or smartphone they are 30 minutes. The reception staff, in any case it is always available to customers for any requests, questions or problems.
However, we would like to thank you for your valuable comments, and we hope to see you here to meet again for a future trip to Naples, to give us the opportunity to prove that the statement does not represent the quality of our services.
Best Regards

This was a last minute break with 3 teenagers and we were moving on to Ischia after a few days so the location was great - only 15 minutes from the hydrofoil terminal. Hotel is in need of complete redecoration and update but it was clean and the service was good so it was not a great disappointment. After a day sightseeing it was good to use the hotel rooftop pool in the late afternoon but it would have been ideal to have it also open before 11 am so it could be used for a quick dip before going out.

Room Tip: Seaview with balcony - we asked for adjoining rooms with children but they were on a completely diff...

We booked a balcony room at this hotel overlooking the Bay of Naples. We requested a preference for a room with disabled facilities or a walk-in shower ( big mistake). They used this as an excuse to give us their disabled room at the back corner of the hotel with a small window looking out at the fire escape, but still charged premium balcony rates. No offer of a balcony room with walk-in shower was given. The hotel has refused to consider our complaint (even up to the Hotel Group level) indicating a corporate policy to try to make use of inferior accommodation wherever possible irrespective of contracted accommodation. Choose a hotel group with higher ethical standards or if you are booked, carry a printed copy of you full booking details

Room Tip: Make sure you carry a printed copy of your full booking details. Do not use if you need a disabled...

Dear Customer,
We are very sorry that the stay was not up to your expectations.

We didn't want to disturb your holiday, for us every client and your comfort are very important we try, in fact, to satisfy the needs of all our guests.
Our rooms with disabled facilities are only inside view, with window. Was necessary to ensure customer accessibility to the shower, so the choice was obliged. The accommodation that you have been assigned was not the lower level. We didn' t want to disappoint your expectations.

I was relocated here at short notice by a corporate travel agent from a poor hotel elsewhere in Naples.

Had some issues with the company booking on arrival, but the receptionist called the agent and sorted it immediately. Upgrading me to a corner room also (a smile and a joke goes a long way in Naples).

Great breakfast for Italy (despite the powdered eggs - why they scrimp on that I don't know)

Clear advice on navigating Naples and finding 'out of the way' addresses for various business meeting.

Good restaurants nearby. And plenty of police on the streets (if you have read the factual 'Gomorrah' by Saviano the investigative journalist, you'd know why!)

All in I'd give it an excellent, however, the aircon was centrally switched off from 2-7am for the week I stayed there as one of three main compressors was undergoing repair. That said, after some banter with the Chap on reception on the second morning, we agreed that, if I didn't complain, he had to either provide a fan or a half naked pretty Italian Punkawallah - being a true Napoletano, he honoured the deal by the evening.

I was given a brand new fan, so thats a very good to excellent score.

Room Tip: upgrade to the sea view for 15 euros or try and get a corner room.

excellent hotel, great breakfast (for Italian standards), beautiful frontal seaview (not all the rooms), at night some noise from the streetrestaurants, swimming pool at 10th floor, excellent restaurant (much better than streetrestaurants, exception "I re di napoli" is also a good streetrestaurant with special tourist menu), always a taxi in front of hotel (and also a lot of police!), if you take a taxi ask for fixed price (list in taxi), NO free wifi, we stayed for 10 nights and if we ever visit Napels again we will certainly book this hotel again

Room Tip: book a room with a frontal seaview: = with balcony!!

Here's what you need to know about this property from check-in to check-out:

Location in Napoli: primo!

Lobby: not shabby.

Service desk: friendly and efficient.

Elevator: small as hell...

Room: make sure you book one with a view or you're doomed to a view of the emergency escape (see photo). Now, I was on business, and the room was booked at the government rate, but come on Royal Continental!! If you're not going to give me a view of the Med, at least make it a decent room! Bed: hard. TV: ok. View: s**t, bathroom: did Mussolini bathe here? (Old, 50s...mildew...yuck!!!

The breakfasts were complimentary and nice. Good tomatoes, coffee, breads. View of Castel de Ovo were wonderful.

SOoooooo, if you want a dated hotel with a great location and view, then this one's for you.

If you do score a room with a view, then you will be very happy. I did not. Therefore I was unhappy.

Room Tip: Get one with a view.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Royal Continental. Our room was very spacious and nice and even though we were on the first floor close to street level we slept well every night. Coming from our last noisy hotel it was a relief to get a good nights sleep. The furniture in our room was a bit dated but still looked nice. Our room also had a large balcony and fantastic views of the water. The rooftop pool is nice, breakfast was alright and staff are very friendly. They helped us book a couple of tours no problem. The location is also very good, right on the water and close to lots of restaurants and bars. We could have used a hand when carrying in our luggage on arrival but apart from that it was an enjoyable stay.
