the Historic center of Naples offers a lot of places to be visited. there are small and important churches in every corner of this area. Spaccanapoli is a street full of lively shops, restaurants and attractions. to be visted.

Naples is dirty. I know dirty having grown up in some dirty places, and I still thought it was dirty.
Having established that this walk was a walk through dirtiness, I would say that Centro Storico is not nearly as impressive as many of its Italian counterparts and authorities seem to make little effort to maintain the areas themselves. What redeems the area is the feel of the local shops, culture/people as you walk through the streets that connect the points of interest. The points of interest themselves, however, are not all that awe-inspiring.

Wander the streets of the Centro Storico, look beyond the grime and sense the beauty and age of these crumbling buildings. Perhaps purchase a pair of shoes or boots in softest leather, or maybe stop for a coffee or drink at one of the many bars and cafes in the area. Cafe Dei Professori (the one closest to the entrance to Galleria Umberto I) has amazing espresso (best to stand at the bar inside and soak up the atmosphere). The Belle Epoque style Gran Caffe Gambrinus near Piazza Plebiscito had the most delicious gelato and is a great spot for a drink at the bar in the evening, accompanied by a great selection of nibbles. The shops near here are busy and open late with many mainstream stores around, but just keep walking and you will find fish markets, flowers stalls and boutiques and of course, Pizza. We tried lots, but the basic margherita at Pizzeria Da Michele came out on top by a mile.
