From our Blue deluxe room we had a FANTASTIC view over the glittering sea towards Vesuvius during a Spring weekend !The bed was really comfortable with many cushions and good quality linen, unlike usually in Italy !!Everything was clean, fresh and functioning in our spacoius room.Breakfast was just like what we enjoy, fruits, omellettes, cheeses, cakes ect. Unfortunately we did not have the opportunity to have breakfast on the upper terrace.
The location by the sea was just great. There were many Restaurants
by the street boulevard within walking distance. Fresh air, colourful Marina and safe walking in the evening !Nothing to complain ! We just loved it as we also had sunshine every day !

My wife and I stayed in a deluxe room with the view of the bay. The view was nice, although in the morning the traffic on Nazario Sauro could be quite noisy. The hotel and the room have a lot of character and charm, but the furniture and various facilities are a little dated and need some serious TLC. Although I have to say that everything worked, and the free Wifi signal was strong. The breakfast was held in a lovely dining room at the front of the hotel. The spread was at best average by European standard. The selection of bread and cheese and fruits were limited and the latter seemed to have sat around for a while. This could be due to the fact that we were in Napoli during the off season (Nov) and there were few guests at the hotel. The hotel is definitely not at the same level as some of the other 4 and 5 stars hotels located further down the street by the bay, although I suspect the price tag of those hotels is probably quite a bit higher than that of Miramare. Overall, I think it is 3.5 star if you have a view, and 3 if not.

The view from our room and balcony onto The Bay of Naples and Vesuvius was SPECTACULAR!! Nothing else about the hotel came close. The hotel and the furnishing are very worn and dated. The back of the side chair fell off when my husband sat in the chair. It was never fixed but merely placed back on the chair only to fall off each time you sat in the chair. The lighting in the room was poor. The bathroom tiles and grouting needed repair. The faucet in the sink looked dirty all of the time. Our wake up call on our day of departure came 1/2 hour late with no apology.
Naples is not a very clean city with lots of grafitti and garbage. However, the waterfront location of this hotel in Santa Lucia is the nicest section and a good point from which to do day trips to Pompeii, Vesuvius and the Amalfi coast. Otherwise, I would not recommend visiting Naples.
The hotel did arrange a drive down the Sorrento and Amalfi coasts with Mike, our driver who was outstanding.

This is a lovely comfortable, traditional hotel in a great location on the sea front, close to restaurants and shops. The staff are so friendly and helpful giving restaurant recommendations and information on how to get to the station for a visit to Pompeii. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The bedroom was very comfortable having tea & coffee making facilities and we loved the tradition of having the bed turned down and a chocolate on our pillow in the evening. Although the bathroom felt cramped I would still recommend this hotel. Breakfast was taken on the terrace which was decorated with lots of flowers and had a lovely view over the sea. We found it a very relaxing place to stay and despite its reputation thought that Naples is a great city.

Great hotel. Older, but still excellent. Spacious room. We were upgraded at no extra cost. The owner was very helpful and friendly. We met his wife and his dog and learned about his travels and family. I felt like we were family. The rooms were clean. Breakfast was free but not my type of breakfast, that being said I'm all about bacon and eggs, so Euro breakfasts are "ein" in my books. The tv had many English channels - sweet. THE VIEW WAS KILLER!!!!! SO PRETTY! I felt safe there, if that factors in for anyone (it usually does with my mother, so this is an important point in my books).
The negative: We booked a day trip through the hotel. Not what we'd expected and the company they chose was pricey for much less "stuff" then other day trips we'd done during our Euro vacation.

Overall: EXCELLENT hotel. Just plan your trips on your own.

Tip: Go to Capri for a day. Stunning.

Room Tip: We got an upgrade to a "front" room. The front has STUNNING views. They are really nice, s...

Having read much about Naples edgy reputation I was concerned about visiting the city. I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. Like most cities there are good and bad areas but the Hotel Miramare is located in a very nice area long the sea front. It is an old style hotel with real character and lots of comfort. Our room on the corner had large French windows on two sides. The room was very blue which matched the sea and the sky. The bed had many pillows, a great treat, as many Italian hotels seem to have only one hard pillow per person. And the sheets were real linen. Breakfast was served on the hotel roof terrace overlooking the harbor and volcano. The pastries and coffee were excellent. For dinner we found many good restaurants along the sea front and recommend Gusto and Gusto where we chose our own fish. Altogether a very romantic location.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the harbor.
