Reviewed August 10, 2012

The hotel was located on a hill which was not convenient but was very quiet. It was outdated and worn out, however one could tell there were some good old days about the hotel. The view from the roof was great where they served breakfast and the food was very average. The mattress was bad and made squiky sound whenever you moved. The hotel overall was not too bad but average.

Dear Guest,
I am really sorry to read you could not experience our product at its best. I am deeply thankful you spent some time to share your useful comments and suggestions on the web which will be used by us in the most positive manner in the very coming future. Just a little note, I do consider our breakfast for “its value on the plate” very generous but once again I am ready and willing to accept any kind of criticism about it. Regarding our location I can assure you we are very often chosen by our patrons indeed for being in one of the nicest residential areas of the city. I normally say to our newest guests: this property is not to see and to be seen but just to see (we are on top of a lovely hill). The Parkers is really an historical building and it is officially considered that by the Ministero dei Beni Culturali that is the local government’s section that controls the Neapolitan artistic & historical heritage of this city. We are clearly not a contemporary hotel but indeed I am really sorry you did not have any chance to enjoy our style and décor during your recent stay with us. I really hope to see you once again in the coming future and if so, please get in touch with us directly. I would be more than honored to welcome you personally. Best regards. Giampaolo Padula

Beautiful hotel with wonderful views across the bay of Naples. From the outside the hotel doesn't look special, but the reception is lovely and the bar and restaurant on the top floor give the perfect setting in which to watch the golden glow of the city change as the sun goes down. Our room was at the back of the hotel, so there wasn't a view, but we were only there for one night so it wasn't really an issue. The staff were more friendly and helpful than I could describe and deserve a great deal of praise. The hotel is in an old building and the rooms have retained some of that charm. There is private parking, recommended, but at a price. There is a good shopping street with some nice restaurants about a 15 minute walk away and the hotel staff organised a good restaurant for us. I'd have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

We stayed at the hotel Parker with mixed feeling to start with based on the reviews here but we decided to keep an open mind. Upon arrival at the room, we thought it was pleasant and the high ceilings certainly gave a nice feeling to the rooms. However, we were disappointed with the cleanliness of the room, particularly the bathroom. It was clean on the surface but if we moved the shower screen a mass of black dirt was underneath (which was left there despite us moving the screen for room service to see) and indeed the tiles were covered in dust and dirt. The floors were also very dirty and gave us dirty feet. The TV does not have any interenational channels, just Italian. There are no tea and coffee making facilities and at 5 euros a coffee (for the smallest frothiest cappuccino I've ever seen) there needs to be some. The hotel toileteries were of very poor quality and they did not even have any conditioner in the whole hotel which is a nightmare if you are a woman! There is merely a sheet on the bed and a decorative cover (that smells like it hasn't seen a dry cleaners for many years) - when asking for a duvet we did indeed get one albeit it did not have a cover and had suspicious stains on it. The noise from the road is AWFUL. Constant tooting of horns and mopeds speeding past. The internal doors of the hotel are so thin and you can hear converstations and people going to the toilet next door. The bed was sunken in the middle and the headboard was the noisiest in the world and creaked upon the slightest movement. Our headboard was two single headboards stuck together and did not even measure the width of the mattress. The doors in the room (wardrobe doors etc) do not close properly. The shower is awful - a handheld one in a bath that you can put on a higher attachment but it leaks everywhere and I didn't feel like I was refreshed! The mats at the side of your bed for the turning down service and the slippers never got taken off the shelf. The sides were wiped down and things not picked up in the process - VERY lazy housekeeping. The pillows were awful - one was like a block of material and the other like one from the pound shop. I would not go to George's restaurant again if you paid me - food was DIRE and a standard can of coke cost 8 euro!!!!! A small fruit juice for my children was 7 euro EACH. The food was like it had been microwaved. HAVING SAID THAT - for the price charged for the room, it really isn't such bad value for the room itself IF it was clean. This hotel was clearly rather nice many years ago and alike Naples itself, seems to have been negleceted. It is certainly not a five star hotel and I certainly would not stay there again. I have slept for about hours a night on average and feel like I need another trip away. To top it off, we were charged 90 euro pick up from the airport (25 mins drive) and 130 euro drop off charge (pre 9am) which took 13 minutes. We felt that they took advantage of us not wanting to put our children in the taxis in Naples due to the AWFUL driving and lack of seatbelts. 80% of cars that I saw were badly damaged from prangs and I nearly got ran over at least every five minutes. Front desk staff were lovely mind you and if you do decide to give it a try you must avoid George's restaurant and go to Veritas a few doors down (EXCELLENT FOOD and VERY good value) and Antonio's & Antonio's a few minutes walk away. I tried to keep an open mind but it is clear that this hotel has become VERY lazy, housekeeping doesn't give a hoot and the drinks prices are more than the Burj al Arab which is crazy!!!

Room Tip: Although the rooms facing the view are great, go for a room at the back of the hotel if you want a d...

Dear Guest I am really sorry, on behalf of the whole staff here at the Grand Hotel Parkers, for reading your comments and not to mention for the fact you did not have a good experience with us recently. It is really strange how the same property can give a so different perception to different guests regarding, for example, some specific topics for which recently we were prized with excellence, we are very proud of that, from Trip Advisor itself. By that I mean food, cleanliness, service and some other features that a property like ours has to offer to their patrons. I was surprised too about the fact you did not find any international channels in our rooms; we have over 25 channels and 7 of them are international ones. Did you try to enquiry about that to the reception during your stay? We are part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World for many years and no body, we will certainly strongly consider your suggestion, has ever stated tea and coffee facilities in the room has to be a must for the guests upon arrival. I will double check on that. I am really sorry you did not like Naples neither; I guess it is one of the most vibrant city in the world and for different reasons such as people, music, food, art and many more. I really hope, please get in touch with me directly for the future, to see you once again here at the Parkers as I would really like to show you, this time seriously , what our real value is; we always try to go above and beyond, on a daily basis, on our guest expectations. This time we failed but most of the times we succeed. Once again I do thank you in advance for having taken the time to share your precious feedback and valuable suggestions with us. Best regards. Giampaolo Padula – General Manager.

Our stay at he hotel was very pleasant. Our room looked to the back, so not really a view, but still light enough. Bathroom was renovated, service was very good.
The view over the bay from the restaurant terrace simply outstanding.
We only had breakfast and drinks at the restaurant, breakfast was included, drinks prices high, but the view makes it worth it.

Room Tip: I think asking for a room facing the street might be a good idea.

A grand hotel in the old Italian style, with high ceilings, polished wooden floors, chandeliers and excellent service. The roof terrace bar & restaurant is spectacular at night and relaxing in the day, the waiters unobtrusive and efficient. The rooms are spacious and elegant and though you won't get a US style power shower, there's enough water for a reasonably decent clean. Despite being on a busy road, the rooms are quiet. Air conditioning is effective (in my experience rare in Italy) and there is good wi fi throughout. The city centre is a 20 minute walk downhill, so just remember it's uphill on the way back. If you are fed up with chain hotels, then this is your perfect antidote. Mind you, there isn't a pool but you won't need one after climbing up from the city centre! Great small luxury hotel

Room Tip: overlooking the sea with a balcony

A little tired inside but not bad at all. However the staff were amazingly nice and the hotel is in a nice location, with amazing views across Naples. Worth a visit. Pillows were pretty ordinary.

What an amazing place! Rooms nothing out of the ordinary and bathrooms could do with an upgrade but wonderful views from the terrace and restaurant and first rate, attentive staff. No noise from the road once the windows are shut and no noise from other rooms or from cleaning staff which often blights hotel stays, such as staff clunking about early in the morning and gurgles and clunks from neighbouring bathrooms.

Room Tip: Facing the road. No noise and great views.
