“A must”

You don't get to walk up a volcano every day!

Got the taxi shuttle from Ercolano it cost 10 euro plus 10 euro for the entrance. Took 15 minutes to walk up from the taxi park. ( We do walk up mountains on our summer holiday but wouldnt say we are mega fit) We were allowed only 1hour 10 at the volcano but pretty sure the advertised time was 2 hours.

Couple of stalls up the top for postcards etc. no real information point either at top or bottom but you can buy a guide in several languages for 1 euro at the bottom.

Worth the effort of the walk!

“Good for a visit”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 4, 2013

Its a tiring steep climb , up on the top you get a sweeping view of bay of naples. , looking into the mouth of the volcano all one can see is piles of gravel.

We had combined the visit with a tour of pompeii, In hindsight , I would have preferred to tour herculaneum instead of the volcano.

“good experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 3, 2013

My sister and I hiked this volcano- it was a somewhat easy hike- but it's all gravel and can be a little tiring. However when you look into the volcano- it really just looks like an old quarry ;) nothing incredibly exciting! The views at the top are beautiful and it's something you'll always remember doing.

“We expected better”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 2, 2013

We honestly expected better, They charge you 10 euro to walk up a hiking trail and it's not a guided tour, so you find yourself alone hiking till the top. On the way you enjoy nice landscapes, but I realy think that the value for money for this excursion is poor.
