Owner description: This museum has all of the interesting finds from Pompeii and Herculaneum, both doomed cities after the violent eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79AD.

I really enjoyed the time I've spend in the Archaeological Museum! There are so many different statues, objects found in Pompeii and mosaics that you simply can't get bored. I have taken so many pictures inside the Museum because so many statues impressed me by their beauty, perfection and size.

If you're planning to visit Pompeii, you must visit this museum first. Here you will find all those mosaics and works of art found in Pompeii and Herculaneum. In Pompeii there's very little to see regarding works of art, there are only the ruins. If you come to this museum first, you will be able to visualize the magnificence of the city.

The building where the museum is housed is fabulous. However, some areas are poorly lit so you can't see the paintings properly.

There are some outstanding works of art such as the bronze statue of the boxer (First century B.C) and breathtaking marble funerary urns.

Plus, there are very few visitors there, so it's an enjoyable experience.

You must go here before seeing Pompeii. They have all the original important findings from the site.

This museum was only a ten minute walk from our hotel and is well worth a visit! The building the museum is housed in is absolutely beautiful! The Pompeii exhibits are breathtaking. It really gives you a good idea of what Pompeii really must have been like. We went to visit Pompeii before the museum, but it might be neat to reverse the two and visit the museum first. It was a nice museum that wasn't very crowded. Also, we stopped by just before leaving Naples, and there were plenty of taxis lining the streets outside. A must-see when in Naples!

Wonderful collection of ancient art. You can see a lot of the pieces rescued from Pompeii here. I just wonder how they removed all the frescos without damaging them.
