What a lovely experience, a large magnificient room, fast internet ( free for gold) great service-asked for extra lotion and was promplty bought 5 of them and I dont speak Italian , a most pleasant rooftop bar witha great drink menu, a lovely location and minutes form town center- 15 minute walk up Via Toledo
A hot water kettle and an iron is always something I like in a hotel ; its a great convenience but i loved this place

Room Tip: Room facing ocean is real nice

My wife and I spent six nights in this wonderful hotel in mid June 2013 as part of a longer trip to multiple locations in Italy. I paid extra for balcony view overlooking the harbor. We actually got two Juliette balconies/double windows in a large spacious, nicely furnished room on the first floor (second floor to Americans). At first I was disappointed by the floor and the size of the balcony but had a chance to see a standard balcony room on the upper floors which was much smaller and had only the single window/balcony. I much preferred the room we got and will ask for it in the future. Central AC system was quiet and efficient. The rooftop garden with comfortable seating and separate restaurant where all meals are served were incredibly beautiful. This is one hotel where you should bite the bullet and include breakfast because that was the best part of the stay every day - a very wide selection of pastries and the usual other continental breakfast items including eggs and great service (a la carte available but who needs it). The hotel was pricey but reasonable given the luxury. We also had dinner twice (pricey with limited menu but beautifully presented) and spent several hours reading in the garden. Service was outstanding in every respect including evening turn-down service. We took taxis to the main sites we wanted to see (about $22US) and walked along the pedestrian shore walk and to shopping.

Room Tip: Ocean (Capri and castle) view on first floor is better than balcony on higher floors in my opinion because rooms are much larger and airy. Ask for a view towards Capri and the castle in preference to the harbor view, but both are beautiful.

We were worried about visiting Naples, but our stay at hotel excelsior converted us to big fans. We loved everything about this hotel and especially loved our evening stop at the terrace bar where the view is incredible and the two bartenders amazingly kind and charming.

Luxury hotel in Naples. Service is good, rooms are excellent. Location is a bit out of the way. You'll need to use taxis or walk a fair distance to reach subway. Breakfast offering were okay but were a bit disappointing.

If you thinking of visiting Pompeii, consider Herculaneum, located at Ercolano Scavi, in addition or as an alternative. It's smaller and more intimate, great if you're pressed for time or want to avoid the heat.
