This is the second time I have stayed here and wont stay anywhere else. The standard rooms are large, clean and modern with a special Italian touch. I was fortunate to have been upgraded to a suite overlooking the bay with a view of Vesuvius and Capri. My sister in law was in a standard room that was as nice as the last one i recieved when I stayed a year ago.

The front desk staff were attentive and proffessional. For example, we needed flowers for family we were meeting for the first time and everything was closed. They had an employee bring us flowers from Sorrento, this is going above and beyond.

I will not stay anywhere else and highly recomend this hotel. This hotel is close to a supermarket, the main square/piazza, cafe's an restaraunts esspecially our favorite Antonio e' Antonio. At night the main street comes alive with restaurants and bakeries. The Caslte on the bay comes alive also with seafood restaurants etc.

I slept like a baby here each time and felt very safe and comfortable.

There is a hop-on-hop off bus stop across the street in between the hotel and Antonio e' Antonio. Or you can walk through the piazza to the famous castle where all three routes of busses meet and you can choose.

Room Tip: If you want something, just ask. I am sure that if they have they will accomidate you.

One of the best hotels in Naples with a great location. It is a beautiful grand historic hotel that sits right on the corner overlooking the bay and Castel dell'Ovo (in Italian, Egg Castle). We were upgraded to a water view balcony room on the 5th floor. To fully enjoy this hotel make sure you get a water view balcony room on the 5th or 6th floor. You also need to relax with a drink on the rooftop terrace. The views are amazing. Our room had a great balcony with amazing views. The room had 12-14 foot ceilings was very spacious with nice furnishings and a comfortable bed. The bathrooms are marble and what you would expect from a 4 1/2 star hotel. Now the bad. The front desk staff needs a little training in luxury hotel etiquette and explaining the properties amenities. I am a Platinum with Starwood and we booked this hotel with points. While they were very friendly and courteous they don't always treat you like your the customer and what they do may influence whether or not you will return. They upgraded our room and provided free internet and bottled water in our room as required by Starwood but you are treated like you didn't pay for the room and your a lessor guest. This started with checkin when we asked about breakfast and were simple told that it was not included in our rate (16,000 points per night = spending over $5,000 at Starwood hotels). As a Platinum with loyalty towards the Starwood brand I thought this was a very poor example of customer service. I also spoke to the the manager on duty about this but they all act like you are not the ones paying us for your stay Starwood is so you No Free Breakfast for You… The woman working at the reception desk even told us how Starwood was paying for our room. That is never something you tell the customer. We were Paying customers that chose their hotel over others because it was a Starwood. This stunned us even more when we went to check out the rest restaurant and the waiter was shocked that breakfast was not included with our room since this is the case most of the time. He told us that they would be happy to give us a two for one discount even though the from desk either wasn't or never mention that they would.

The rooftop terrace and restaurant are very nice and we enjoyed drinks on the terrace multiple times and an excellent dinner at the restaurant one evening. I recommend the Salt encrusted sea bass, which comes out in a sort of cocoon that they break open with the sea bass inside. Just watch your bill. The terrace wanted to charge us more for the same wine we ordered the day before. They seem to "forget" the prices of items.

The same woman that checked us in messed up our bill during check out and we had to stand there while others had to get involved to figure out how to fix it. This place could be a 5-star but lack of customer service and training will keep it a 4 - 4 1/2-star.

Summary:
- Beautiful Grand Historic Hotel with a great location
- Water-view balcony rooms on the 5th and 6th floor are worth the extra you pay for them
- You must spend time on the rooftop terrace (assume views)
- Good but not great front desk customer service
- Nice restaurant, food and service
- Pay attention to your bills - they tend to make mistakes

While we enjoyed our stay here we were not treated by the front desk as the Platinum Starwood Preferred Guests that we are and this will heavily affect weather or not we decide to return to this hotel.

Room Tip: Request a bay view room with a balcony on the 5th or 6th floor.

Our family stayed three days here on our two week adventure in Italy - in early October 2011. With all the stories one hears about Naples we were hesitant to select this Starwood / Sheraton Hotel versus something in Sorrento and Amalfi where we traditionally stay on our bi annual trips to Italy. Rest assured - the location of this hotel right on the bay with beautiful views of both Mount Vesuvias and the Bay of Naples negates the aspect that it's in Naples. This location was convenient to the old Castle across the street ( a must see / visit) and the Port / Marina which we walked to for our day visit to Capri via a ferry. The hotel staff were very helpful, professional and worked to make our stay just right. With it's turn of the century origins the ceilings are high - 15 footers, the walls are upholstered in silk, the marble bathrooms are nice as well. Dinner on the rooftop restaurant while pricey was excellent. View is amazing. Breakfast is served on the rooftop restaurant as well and came with our room package. Sipping coffee in the morning looking at Mount Vesuvius and the ruins of the ancient cities at its feet or at the isle of Capri across the bay... tough to choose a day's outing. In the end we managed to do both. The hotel has invested in sound proof windows so that one does not notice that this hotel is on the corner of a busy bayside street until one walks out on one's balcony. Only recommendation to the Hotel Management is its time to take the Heavenly Bed concept that Starwood Properties have in the USA and bring it to this sister hotel in Naples and then everything would have been perfect. We would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: The southwest side of the hotel faces both Mount Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples while the eastern si...

One of our favorite hotels. We loved Naples-it has a NYC feel with an Italian flair. If you are comfortable in NYC you will be fine here. We only spent two nights in Naples and wished we could have stayed longer. This hotel was a refuge after traveling and sightseeing. The room was huge and faced the bay of Naples. The buffet breakfast was very good and eating breakfast with the terrific views made life sweet. The hotel has impectable service and assistance of local info. Very welcoming. My husband enjoyed great Cuban cigars on the rooftop terrace each night. Pretty much perfect.

Room Tip: If you have balance issues or mobility issue, uses caution as there is a big step out of the bathtub...

This has got to be one of the most charming hotels I have ever stayed in. I had a jr suite and an excellent view. Would stay again in a moment. The only downfall was the stodginess of the hotel staff. You could get anything you want at the drop of a hat but the only person to smile was the maid. Other then that a 5 star!

We stayed here the last 3 nights of our Southern Italy tour. Honestly, we couldn't had picked a better location and hotel than this one. All of the staff was extremely helpful and very cordial. Our room was the biggest we have ever stayed at while in Europe. It had a separate room for the closet and a huge bathroom. You can't ask for more. The roof top is great for a late drink with gorgeous views of Mount Vesubio and the bay of Naples. Traffic and garbarge are indeed a problem but they can be easily overlooked by the grand architecture of this beautiful city. Don't miss visiting the museum of CapoDimonte, the last painting of Caravaggio (Saint Ursula), royal palace of Caserta (45 min train ride outside of the city). The only downsize is that they don't have a pool, but you can use their sister's property one (next door) for about 12 euros.

Room Tip: Try to pick a higher floor room and with a view of the bay.

Before arriving in Naples we were told horror stories about, crime, pollution, smog,,, and yes it's all there, especially the garbage, but this hotel is an old world of charm and grandeur, the surronding area is clean and extremily pleasant.

The hotel is situated across the road from the bay of Naples, with views over Vesuvio, and "Castel dell'Ovo", with an amazing rooftop garden, which makes for a very pleasant breakfast.
The rooms are very spacious and extremily clean, by lovely local ladies.

The reception staff is extremily helpful and full of advise.
The hotel is approx. 10 minutes walk from the historic centre of Naples, and at 4.30/5.00
it's time to enjoy a coffe, or a limoncello with a "sfogliatella" in the historic Gambrinus coffe house.
