yes the place is beautiful and the view over naples incredible, but when we arrived, all the museum doors were closed (apart from the one with the ships).
it seems that there are guided tours to be followed if you want to visit the museum rooms. this is of course not explained when you pay the full price of the ticket... when we asked at the end of our visit, we were told that it was "too late" (we were still 30 minutes before the Certosa's closing time...). I can understand that there are budget restrictions, but please be frank from the start and don't take tourists for fools.
maybe it is because we were there in August (but come on! it is in August that people have time to go on holidays).

We were hesitating to go inside as you have already beautiful views on the city op Naples from the square outside this museum. We were glad we entered. This is a 100 in 1 museum. A very beautiful baroque church, beautiful wooden vessels, beautiful courtyards,... Just very nice to wander around looking for what's next rather than following a fixed route.
There are not a lot of tourists so it is a quite calm museum.

The church inside this compound (very close to the Castel Sant'Elmo) is beautiful. The marble floors are stunning, and the inlaid wood panels in one of the rooms off the church are breathtaking. There were so few tourists at this spot, but it was truly wonderful. Definitely worth a visit.

With one day to see Naples we spent the afternoon going up the funicular to the hill top to see the Castle and San Martino and were not disapointed. It being a Tuesday the Castle was closed (as was the main anthoralogical museum - our first choice) however we were rewarded with a magnificent view of the Bay of Naples when we finally reached the open square in front of the museum. Directons from the funicular are sign posted, but there are several sets of steps to climb so a quick drink in tha museum cafe was called for.
The museum and church are quite modest, but non the less there are interesting artifacts especially the long row boats and coaches. Once through the coach archway is a fantastic balcony to have your picture taken overseeing the buildings and bay. At the end of a hot sightseeing day the lack of crowds and serenity of the suroundings made a perfect end to our day in Naples.
It was then all down hill and back to our cruise ship.
