The views from the terrace of this Monastery are stunning, it overlooks the entire City & has clear views across the Bay to Versuvius. The Church & adjacent Cloisters are tranquil & beautiful. Don't miss behind the alter in the Church, there is a room fitted entirely with wooden cupboards which are made of the highest quality marquetry showing various views. The entire low wall supporting the columns of the cloister are covered in fabulous Majollica Tiles again showing scenes of the region. There is also a small museum/gallery but as only parts were open & it wasn't well sign posted I found it confusing. Should be on must see list for the Church, Cloisters & the views.

If you are in Naples do not miss this old Monastery & museum. Definitely worth the small price for entry. We had it all to ourselves and were astounded by all the frescoes, beautiful carved doors, amoung many other things - and the history! We took the funiculare to Vomero and walked up past the castle. I am glad we opted to spend our morning here instead of the castle. We had a gorgeous view from the gardens at the museum - overlooking Naples. Allow plenty of time. Take in the art and the atmosphere. You may question - as we did - why is Naples so underestimated as a tourist destination? It has been neglected, but sites like this are now being cleaned up and opened up, and hopefully will receive well deserved recognition.
