Owner description: The tradition of representing the Holy Family as true art lives on in this narrow street, which is crowded on both sides with hundreds of artisan workshops with colorful displays of Nativity scenes.

“Italian Christmas”
Reviewed January 6, 2014

One of those places you have to visit as a tourist, but appeals more to the Italian tourists as all of the shops sell Italian style Christmas decorations which although interesting & amusing to look at wouldn't be something you may buy to bring home.
Very busy so hang on to your wallet/purse and expect to get bumped around a bit.
One saving grace is the church half way down, name escapes me, but the decor is everything you would expect from an old Italian church with lots of gold leaf and elaborate coving

“Packed of people but such an authentic experience and so many beautiful things to see”
Reviewed January 5, 2014

When strolling in San Gregorio Armeno I felt like a 5 years old child and was brought back then, when I used to have a presepe in my home for Christmas. I simply adored all the creations I could see here from the biggest to the smallest, and all the different characters that these skilled artists make, the tiny details, the little things...everything!

“If you like street markets and Nativities...”
Reviewed December 23, 2013

...you'll like this experience. The streets are narrow, jam-packed with vendors and shoppers during the weeks before Christmas. For the discerning collector there are a number of places that do very fine work (priced accordingly) but you can also pick up a typical Italian nativity set for a very reasonable price for the family mantelpiece. Comparison shopping pays, as the quality in some shops is noticeably better even to the inexpert eye. Most of the shops offer essentially the same range of figurines and settings but several offer different treatments--plain terra cotta figures, or white glazed porcelain, etc. If you're in Naples at Christmas it is definitely worth a visit.

“Otherwise known as Christmas Alley”
Reviewed November 30, 2013 via mobile

What fun! This street is extremely crowded at this time of year with shoppers looking to start or continue to build their presepe, which are the village Christmas scenes. There are all sorts of Christmas lights and decorations, hot roasted nuts, and street performers. An absolute 'must see' in the ancient part of Naples
