Owner description: The tradition of representing the Holy Family as true art lives on in this narrow street, which is crowded on both sides with hundreds of artisan workshops with colorful displays of Nativity scenes.

I have always loved nativity scenes and handmade items. This neighborhood was a "must see" when I visited Naples and I was not disappointed. There are hundreds of shops located in this area, and every single shop has LOTS of items crammed into spaces. There are tons of items to look at and buy.

The main things you will find here are nativity scenes and figurines in many variations and sizes, from the inexpensive to the very expensive. You will also find unique handmade Italian gift items that are made in town. None of that imported stuff from China.

As a jewelry maker, I found several tiny statues of the Virgin Mary that I purchased that I have never seen anywhere else; I will use these in future jewelry creations.

One of the things I found interesting was watching a woman hand paint nativity statues - one by one - in her shop. This particular shop sold clay and ceramic doll parts for people who want to design and make their own dolls. Heads, torsos, arms and legs could be purchased for fairly reasonable prices, and there were lots to choose from.

If you like nativity sets, artsy items and handmade items, be sure to stop here on your trip to Naples. You won't be disappointed.

Great area to stay or visit...very central and shops full of lots of locally produced souvenirs if that's the kind of thing you like - personally I don't but clearly it has a market!
Can access lots of different areas from here and buzzing with activity.

This street, also called "Christmas Alley," is a bustling little street filled with artisans making the Presepi (Manger scenes), made from real wood & plants found in the local area. They also sell porcelain masquerade masks & every little Christmas item you can imagine! Many stores sell hand-made, hand-painted tamburelli (tambourines) that make wonderful keepsakes & gifts! Some speak a little English. Maybe enough to tell you how much something is, but my advice is to learn a little Italian before traveling to Naples! Know how to shop & eat! If you make an effort on the language they will be so grateful & kind & maybe even feel so inclined as to give you "un po sconto" (a little discount)! Also, watch out for the Vespa scooter drivers (well all drivers in Napoli)! They zoom in & out of the crowd! A few weeks before Christmas they put up lights down the alley & there's always something wonderful to find down there! You are also not far from many churches, especially the Duomo of Naples! I've been several times! One of my all-time favorite places in Napoli! If you come to Naples, you MUST go here!

plenty of artisan working on the PRESEPI. Plus you get to find out "who is the lates CLOWN" among Italian famous people. People from Napoli are very funny and warm.
