“Super-friendly, central and well-priced”
Reviewed January 10, 2012

My sister and I booked into Maschioangioino for a pre-Christmas shopping trip. On learning that we both worked in the arts, the proprietor Signora Izzo waived a deposit, saying "Culture is always welcome in my house"! This got us off to a great start. We had lots of friendly emails from her too, ahead of our trip, explaining directions and offering advice. On arrival we couldn't have had a nicer or more charming welcome, with cups of tea and home-made caramelised oranges in chocolate. Signora Izzo loves her dolci! She also made wonderfully helpful phonecalls to the local restaurateurs, recommending her English guests to them. The breakfasts were copious and different every day, with savoury pasties, sweet delicacies and home-made jams. The house was clean and civilised, with idiosyncratic decor and a spectacular - if not altogether efficient - bathroom (you can't shower standing up!) Lovely to be in a grandiose palazzo apartment block with a huge 'portone' entrance into a massive courtyard, though it's worth knowing that you need a 10-cent piece to use the lift before 7pm! Also the view of the castle is not visible from the guest accommodation, sadly; only from the family apartment. However we loved being in central Naples, just a few steps from the Galleria, and equally near to the waterfront with its view of Vesuvius. From the shopping point of view, Maschioangionio is also perfect - midway between the quaint medieval centro storico and the more upmarket commercial districts and Via Chiaia.

Great appreciation for the extraordinary hospitality of the hostess, able to orgarizzare unexpected breakfast based on the best tradition of Neapolitan pastry. Accommodation provided with every comfort in a historic building facing the sea and the aschio Angioino. A stone's throw from Piazza Plebiscito and San Carlo Theatre. I advise you! Cristina & Isa

In may 2011 we spent a week in B&B Maschio Angioino. It was GREAT! The location is really ideal. Very central, close to the Opera, The Castle Maschio Angioino, the Galleria Umberto, The Royal Palace and very easy accessible from the airport by bus. The hospitality by Patrizia and her daughter was very kind. The room is spacious and very cozy. The bathroom with the bath is classy and real comfortable. Every morning we were surprised with a delightful breakfast. Gorgeous self-made sweeties, fresh fruit, fresh cooked eggs, homemade marmalade, good coffee. Resembling: An ideal fallout basis to visit and explore the beautiful city of Naples and her surroundings.

Our stay at the B&B was charming, comfortable, and very cozy. The hosts are warm and friendly and their family home is in an amazing location to explore Napoli on foot, at the front of castle Maschio Angioino & the Bay... the common squares are nearby as are several residential alleyways with small shops and restaurants scattered amongst them. Breakfast each morning was delicious and at our convenience, set in the darling foyer, at the time beautifully decorated for Christmas. We couldn't have stayed in a better location!! I'd recommend to couples or a small group of friends traveling together!!
