“Best Dinner in Naples”
Reviewed October 27, 2012

I found the restaurant on TA, then read that the owner was the son of the couple who own Hosteria Toledo, another great restaurant I went to a few days earlier. They are virtually next door to each other, jus tone street back from Via Toledo. Much quieter than the people-filled, noisy Toledo.

The hotel made a reservation for us, but to sit outside. it's a little noisy if a car or motorcyle drives by, but when we arrived, the owner told us we could sit inside, but that they had a reservation at 10:00 for the two top table. Since it was just 7:45, I knew we would be finished before the next reservation showed up, so he kindly let us sit inside.

The decor is very nice, cozy and a bit more upscale then the Hosteria Toledo. You have a clear view of the kitchen and can watch the chefs at work. We started with a great bottle of Taurasi wine. The owner was very kind, he came over and talked to us about the wine we ordered and his passion for food. He went over the menu with us and helped us select our order. They have a very large selection of risotto. While we both ordered the combo (Filet Mignon and your choice of risotto), we both ordered different risotto. The insalada mista is a huge salad, enough to split. They brought us a veggie platter in error, and replaced it with a few grilled veggies for letitng them know about the error. I'm not a fan of eggplant, but after trying it with the wonderfully aged balasmic, I am now a lover of grilled eggplant!
When the main entre was served, it was a HUGE piece of filet, it must have been 12 ozs! The risotto was by far the best I have ever had (zucchini and shrimp). The main course was only 24 euro, just the filet at home would have been no less than $40.

The wait staff was very attentive, everyone of the customers all seemed to be having a good time. I loved the experience and would recommend this place to anyone. It was one of the best meals I have had, especially in Naples. I wish i had gone their first because I would have gone again before returning to Rome.

had a great meal here. lardo on croutons, mushroom and sausage risotto plus mixed grilled meats. the owner/owners husband introduced us to a great local red wine variety called aglianco. the restaurant serves many different risottos and we would recommend seeking them out. I found them initially on TA but they were closed the night we wanted to go. Our hotel recommended their parents restaurant nearby, Hosteria de Toledo and we had a great traditional meal there and visited Valu the next night. Very different restaurants, both very good. The mother and owner of Toledo was at Valu and recognized us and gave us an introduction and warm welcome to Valu. Service was good, inside and outside dining in a more modern setting.

“This place is definitely worth a visit”
Reviewed September 7, 2012

It is a quite anomalous restaurant in Napoli. Its specialty are "risotti": rice based recipes typical from Northern Italy (actually from Milano, which many doubt to be part of Italy... ). Not only but it also stands in the Quartieri Spagnogli, the very heart of Napoli. In spite of this characterial contradiction, this place is a must. It is small (better to reserve), very clean and elegant even though a little too packed (but in comparison with what happens outside, it is a corner of Paradise).
The risotti are magnificent (i would try the one with asparaguses or the other with hartichokes... but any will work), the wine selection is good and the owners and service are friendly withouth being invasive .... You will look forward at visiting it again
