A friend and I had a wonderful four night stay in this B&B. We were met at the airport and transported for 15 euros. We did wonder what we had done when we entered the graffitti, littered streets of the old town but were reassured when we entered our room which opened up on to the lovely terrace.
Girl on reception could not have been more helpful, proving a map and advice on nearby sights and how best to get around. Slept soundly, later than usual!
The location is perfect, a bustling part of town with lots of people watching, good resturaunts, bars etc. An exciting place to go.

Room Tip: Rooms opening on to the terrace are quiet and the terrace is lovely. PS Miss the breakfast which sad...

An oasis in the heart of the old city and located close to the pedestrian only piazzas and streets, Bed & Breakfast Medea is a little treasure. The rooms are large (for Naples) and several open out onto a terrace that overlooks the church courtyard. The staff gave us good advice and were friendly and attentive. Do not let the front door's appearance with all the graffiti and the FOUR keys needed to get inside to your room make you uncomfortable. Naples requires a certain amount of vigilance- but there is much to see and do !
A drawback to not having the staff onsite at night- a drunk was persistently banging on the main door at the wee hours of the morning and we were trying to recover from jet lag! Warning- It is hard to find, on your own, if you decide to walk from the train station, which is about a 30 min trek.

Room Tip: Get a room that opens onto the terrace and if you have more than one room, ask to have them next to...

I would totally recommend BB Medea and stay here again if I return to Naples. We had two rooms, a twin and a double with balcony. This is at the back of the residence. There was some noise on SATURDAY night but nothing that disturbed us more than you would expect if you choose to stay right in the centre of Spaccanapoli! The rooms were clean and towels were changed every day.
The reception staff were fantastic. Very friendly and informative.
We were asked on our first morning what drink we would like for breakfast and where we would like it served; room, breakfast room or terrace. We chose our beverage and decided upon the terrace. Every morning at 8:45 prompt we were served our choices.
The breakfast was lovely. A basket of very fresh pastries with butter, conserves and Nutella. Enough for 3 each if you could fit them in!
We stayed 4 nights and the quality didn't falter. The coffee was delicious too. We requested breakfast early on the day we left and sure enough it was ready and waiting when we opened the doors to the terrace.
For the price we paid I really cannot understand the whinging. Indeed, I have stayed in far, far more pricey hotels and not had the friendly and efficient service, never mind the fresh substantial breakfast nor efficiently cleaned rooms.

The rooms are on the second floor, but the stairs are neither steep nor extensive. Yes, you have to pay the nominal sum of 10 cents to take the lift but unless you have mobility issues or loads of luggage it is quicker to take the stairs. I think people need to realise this is obviously a residential block and as such, the maintenance costs of the lift need to be covered somehow. On leaving we were escorted out by the lovely receptionist and she used her key to the lift so we take our luggage down.

The building was secure and we felt totally safe at all times.

I would return to stay here without question.

My impression of B&B Medea is ambiguous. There wasn’t anything “very-very bad”, BUT there were so many small problems and unpleasant situations…
B&B is situated in the historical center of Naples, not far from many monuments and metro (7 min by foot), but not near train station (about 30 min by foot). For find B&B you should have an exact address, the map-plan how to reach it and look for the nameplate “Medea” which isn’t small. The area around B&B isn’t very clean, the buildings are old, people are strange, BUT it is Naples and very soon you will get used to all these things! And actually it’s not so terrible how you can think at the first moment.
Medea is a B&B-apartment and there are about 10 rooms. We had our own keys for open our room, “apartment” and the main door of building. Attention to the elevator which costs 10 eurocents for “one way”. You should have this coin at the check-in for going up with your bags. Then you can use stairs and at the check-out in case if you will not have coin receptionist can activate elevator with the key.
Our room was so-so. In general it wasn’t bad: spacious (but not cozy), warm (there was good heating), not old furniture and there was everything what we needed. BUT from the terrace came A LOT OF ANTS, the room was a little bit dark, the bathroom’s floor was full of water after taking a shower because of bad shutter. Most of all I liked a huge terrace with a lot of flowers, it looked the big courtyard with a view of nearby church. It was one terrace for a few rooms, but each room had its own table and chairs. In the summer time it should be fantastic place!
Room cleaning was good but strange: our towels were not changed every day (it’s normal for B&B), but they were folded and then we couldn’t understand where is whose towel. When they put in order our beds, all our clothes was removed from bed to the table where “lived” ants. I asked don’t touch our things, but the man who cleaned the rooms didn’t understand me.
And with that man we had a lot of problems! The main hotel staff (young man and woman from the reception) was very friendly and helpful and spoke both english and italian. But they worked only from 8 AM till 8 PM, the rest of the time worked that strange man. He was a “night staff”, cleaned the rooms and served breakfast – all in one person. But he didn’t speak well neither english nor italian (is it possible in Italy?!). He also wasn’t helpful and wasn’t present in the hotel all evenings.
The breakfast also wasn’t very nice and without problem. Every evening we had to fill in “breakfast-form” and choose: 1) a drink (1 cup of different types of coffee per person, one big teapot for two persons, juice or cola), 2) “main dish” (per person: small delicious cake with jam or two tasteless croissant), 3) breakfast place (in the dining-room, in our room or on the terrace), 4) breakfast time (only from 8 till 10 AM, what is too late for travellers). For the breakfast also were offered toasts, jams and nutella. We asked for the breakfast at 8 AM, but it always was 15 minutes late (thanks for that strange man) and that’s why sometimes we missed our trains. One day we have written at the “breakfast-firm” another time – 7:30 AM and.. our breakfast arrived at 7:45!!!!! But how could we suppose it if officially it was started at 8 AM?!?!? It’s Italy…. Then there was another problem at the 1 january, when there was not breakfast. Receptionists talked us about it at check-in, but I would like to know it at the moment of booking. And if there was nobody who could served breakfast they could give us at least the cake/croissant and juice, but they didn’t do it((
I also can add that WiFi was free, but most of the time it didn’t work well. There was no normal city-map in the B&B, but you can take it in the Tourist-information near the hotel (on the piazza del Gesu). City center is quite noisy during holidays night and in the night from saturday to sunday, but if you will choose that room which looks the courtyard (as most of the rooms) you can sleep well.
So I can recommend you B&B Medea, but pay attention to ants and strange man!

Room Tip: choose that room which looks the courtyard

A quiet retreat in the old Centro Storico district of Naples. Easy walk to museum, Spaccanapoli district, Spanish Quarter, and Harbour. As this area can be quite noisy, Medea was very pleasant with friendly and helpful staff. Terrace area was most welcome overlooking the cathedral. Reasonably priced. Continental breakfast was average. I was unable to use the Wi Fi here. It was connected but very slow. Try not to arrive late at night as the narrow streets can be difficult to distinguish. If coming by taxi, ask to be dropped at Piazza Gesu Nuovo. B&B Medea is just around the corner. Taxi from the station was Euro 15. Taxi to the station was Euro 7.50!

If you want to stay in the old centre of Naples you shoul stay in this quiet B&B Medea. This hotel situated in the old centre of Naples. The old city is rather noisy, with streets full of people and a perfect night life. If you stay in this B&B you can enjoy all of this and live in a quite place near cathedral. In morning you can hear beautifull bell ring. We live in room on the 4th floor with a very good view. The room was very cozy, clean and clear. The service was also perfect (even was the breakfast in the room). I want to thank Alesia for perfect service. And the price of such kind of place is also very good.

Room Tip: The room withou terrace is also beautifull and even cheaper.
