“A business hotel in decline”
Reviewed May 29, 2012

The NH Ambassador is not a bad hotel, since it is in the very center of Naples and you can walk to almost all the principal attractions in the city. Anyway there are probably better places to stay, since this is a skyscraper of 30 floors, not exactly a beautiful building. From the upper floors you have unforgettable views on the city and if you are lucky with the room assignment also of the Vesuvius. Apart from this the hotel is a little bit outdated in the rooms and the overall mood is not pleasant. Waiters at the reception are not friendly and breakfast is really terrible: if you don't go early you'll have troubles in finding a table and also some food... Beverages are of very low quality from an automatic machine. Finally, but not the least remarks, lifts are always overcrowded and since you have always to take them to go to your room this could become a problem

Room Tip: If possible ask for a room with Vesuvius view

Pros:
- Clean
- nice
- Great location
- Good breakfast

Cons
- expensive internet (you get 30 min free in the lobby every day) More than that will cost you 10 euros for 24 hours.
- Small shower not functioning correctly
- Bed is not very comfortable

My recommendation:
You will be fine if you stay here if you need to stay in Naples. If at all possible stay in Sorrento and take day trips to Napoli as Napoli is a dirty place that is not very nice at all.

Very well maintained hotel, clean and tidy. Nice size room although I wouldn't want to spend a long time in it. Excellent value for money. Would definitely stay again and recommend.

I was immediately upgraded from a single room to a double with sea view on arrival - it is low season after all - which was great!
Rooms are comfy, hot bath every night to wash off the Naples grime was great. Breakfast was awesome - thick hot chocolate, grapefruit juice, local Neapolitan pastries, as well as eggs, toast, breads, cereals, yoghurt, fruit - can't complain!
the staff were helpful and the look of the hotel is very polished and warm. i even used the fitness room twice - it takes some finding as it's not signed anywhere but it's ok when you do find it. Location is great, i walked to the Port twice for ferry transfers, and all around the old city and up to Gallerie Umberto, so it's a good locale.
Only downsides - the wifi is only free for 30 mins each day in the lobby; the room decor is just white laminated chipboard fittings, not terribly attractive but by no means terrible; and the bizarre architecture which has put a solid brick wall along the front of the building blocking the amazing view of Vesuvius - room views are through a small side window to the bay instead...!
Oh, and I got robbed in Naples on the bus from the train station to this hotel - so CATCH A CAB. It's that kind of place.

I spent one week at this hotel and I really liked it! The room was small.. but expected in European hotels. I was on the high floors facing the mountains, the view was gorgeous! The locals call this hotel an eye sore.. and rightfully so since it is one of the only high rise hotels in the area. But it was great, mini fridge was stocked with sodas and alcohol. Perfect for early nights when the super markets close at 7 and your craving something bubbly. The beds were comfortable and I slept very well.. Did not hear any other noise from neighboring rooms. I would stay here again if in the area. The breakfast was good for an Italian hotel too, you can tell they try to accomodate their american guests :)
