Hotel Principe Napolit'amo
Ranked #65 of 186 Hotels in Naples

The location made me to pick this hotel and i was right. But do not expect to find the hotel easily since it is really hidden. Pretend that you are looking for a friends flat rather than a hotel building. The hotel is in the 3rd floor of an old building but the hotel floor is well furnished with modern touch. Service in the reception, free internet (even with 20 letter password), safe parking nearby (not free) were the positives about the hotel. The negative things were the size of the standard rooms (really small), sound insulation (waked up many times because of the door openings and closing of the nearby rooms) and dust in my room.

Room Tip: Standard rooms are very small!

At first impression the hotel is really charming; bang in the middle of Naples in a building shared with local' apartments. However, if you are in Naples for business and need your breakfast at 7 (or so the staff says) and a good, real Neapolitan espresso, Napolit'amo's not for you. At 7.45 the only waitress was still bringing out the food, at the pace of one item every 5 minutes. Two espresso machines where there but nobody to operate them and, when I attempted to make my own coffee, I got showered with hot water and coffee powder...the waitress didn't even battered an eyelid, no apologies, no attempt to help and an air of annoyance! The room was functional but nothing more and the staff quite unhelpful and, frankly, rude. Napolit'amo non ti amo!

Our room (109) located on the first floor was really old (although classified as superior). Communicating door with adjacent room made the nights a nightmare as we could hear snoring and chatting.
Overall the room and bathroom were not cleaned to an acceptable standard. Breakfast poor.
Location is excellent, the staff very friendly. One suggestion: ask for a room at the 2nd floor, recently refurbished.

The Hotel is classical with the tallest ceilings I have ever seen in a hotel. The location is perfect and with a balcony room you can watch the world go by on the Toledo - interesting watching the street traders disappear & reappear up the Spagnoli side streets each time the police car went by.

We took the Alibus (2 Euros each) from the Airport & got off at the second stop at Via San Carlo near the Galleria - then a short walk to and up Via Toledo. Entrance is through a massive steel green door opposite Cafe Roma. Bit daunting to begin with and its on the first floor (2nd flight of stairs) - lots of bell pushing, felt like entering a prison to begin with. But very secure inside and fascinating decor.

The place could do with a revamp and a lick of paint. The breakfast was minimal and should have been served in the vast dining hall, which is highly impressive - they are missing a trick! However, the price is excellent, location perfect and if they were to revamp then the price would need to be increased considerably! Nonetheless, I really liked the old character of the place (true Naples) and one could always get a lovely coffee, filled rolls and cakes from the Cafe Roma opposite if the breakfast was lacking for your needs - we did always arrive for breakfast at the last minute!

Visit the restaurant Ciro (recommended by the Hotel) in Via Santa Brigida off the Toledo walking towards Galleria past the Bank and the road is on the left. Fantastic food and reasonable wine - excellent service & fun waiters - not cheap, but reasonably priced and worth it. As opposed to the restaurant opposite up a side street in Spagnoli, where the food was not good and the owner expected an 8 Euro tip regardless, got nothing and was then very rude.

We done Naples in a day (including a visit to Malta underground "Napoli Sotterranea" - joined tour outside the Gambrinus Cafe at the end of Toledo 5 mins walk), Versuvius & Pompeii the next and then Sorento via the hydrofoil just down the road on our last full day.

Naples is an interesting place - do not expect the same standard as other European Cities - its dirty, full of rubbish, lots of dogs muck on the streets and walking the streets at night is a bit daunting. However, we had no trouble - just blend in with everyone else. The two sides of hospitality were evident - the Hotel staff & Ciro Restaurant were extremely friendly, whereas the restaurant owner opposite the Hotel displayed the bad qualities that give Naples a bad name.

Overall we enjoyed our stay, even more so with the classical room with balcony at the Hotel. Would not be everybodies cup of tea - if you expect modern rooms and like classy Hotels. Would stay again, but would I go back to Naples? Well maybe...

Not hard to find, if you are used to locating buildings by their number on a street! Then call the intercom or go to the first floor.
A wonderful old palazzo. Room nothing to write home about (I'm sure we were in the cheapest one, built out of the end of a corridor). Usual Southern-Europe bathroom smell.
But the whole place had the charm that does not attach to a new building or purpose-built hotel. Good breakfast in a marvellous room. Very low rate (October 2011).
Helpful staff. Good location - ports, arch. museum, centro storico, station all easy enough.

Staff helpful, friendly- good breakfast Thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Naples.
