“Wow!”

Amazing food, great service, really cozy! Big but pleasent surprise.
It was located a walking distance to Excelsier, like 20min. And it was safe to go there by foot-:) but you can always take a cab. Place is small, only handful of tables. I would recommend to go with a big group, so you can order for the table.

“Over-rated and overpriced very average seafood.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2012

I hate to write negative reviews, but I was really disappointed with Da Dora, which had come highly recommended for having some of the best seafood in Naples. We ordered the raw seafood appetizer for 18 euros, which ended up being about 12 very small, sandy clams. It was a ripoff and the first sign that I was in for a disappointing meal. We then shared the seafood risotto and a seafood sampler of three small fish, six shrimp and a sprinkling of calamari. The seafood was all heavily fried, nothing delicate or overly fresh feeling about it. And the seafood risotto had just a few pieces of shrimp visible in it, and no whole shells and chunks of fish. Together with a bottle of wine, two digestifs and a very small desert of two profiteroles (that's a serving!) and a piece of rhum baba cake, the total bill was 112 euros. The service was professional and friendly, but at the end of the night we ended up being insulted. We had just ordered two digestifs and were enjoying the grappa and limoncello, were literally two sips in, when the waiter came and delivered the bill and said we had to leave as people were waiting to eat. I can see that this might be okay if we had been finished with our drinks, but we had just ordered them, and they were of course not cheap. I have never had this happen in America, not to mention in Europe. To top things off, it was pouring rain outside so we were kicked to the curb and trying to figure out what to do just outside of the restaurant in a torrential downfall. The owner did obviously feel badly and he offered us an umbrella or to call a taxi to take us back to the hotel. We accepted the former and went back to the hotel with a very sour taste in our mouth from the experience. Even without the final insult, however, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone who really knows good seafood. There wasn't anything really typically Italian about the meal, either. To me, it was all just very, disappointingly average, and a waste of dinner slot in a city as known for excellent cuisine as Napoli seems to be. Best off avoided if you really know good food.

“good seafood but a bit expensive”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 28, 2012

Seafood restaurant situated near Riviera di Chiaia with good quality food (although there are not typical recipes of Napoli's cookery) but with very expensive prices.
The interior is very simple and most of the furnishing is represented by several photographs of famous people with the restaurant's owner.

“Really good place for sea food.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 24, 2012

One of the best meals that we enjoyed during our time in Naples.

Da Dora is a retro- nautical decorated little family restaurant that is situated well off the beaten track in a slightly down at heel area. It opens at eight in the evening and by five minutes past is completely rammed with locals and the odd tourist.

The accent is very much on seafood and the quality of everything that we tried was outstanding. The signature dish is seafood linguine which I could personally eat at least twice a week and not be bored.

The staff are efficient, friendly and very happy to converse in English if you don't understand the menu.

During the evening we were serenaded by a local musician/ singer which added to the atmosphere and slightly strange old world charm. It kept the kids amused too.

We did have a slightly strange incident at the end of our meal where we left only the 'suggested' 10% ( that they add to the bill anyway). This was met with a large degree of frostiness which I though was unbecoming of the excellent attention and courtesy we had enjoyed throughout our meal.

It wouldn't put me off though and one day I'd love to return.

“Great Room”

Very intimate experience with excellent food and service. Highly recommended for the experience. Every cab driver will know where you want to go when you say the name. We would have gone back again.
