The photographs on the website really are representative of how beautiful this hotel is. However, we did experience a few inconveniences that stopped us giving it full marks.

1. the bed looked lovely but the matress wasn't that comfortable - I could feel the springs and neither of us slept well.

2. Our booking confirmation taken off the website didnt state the terms of the stay for example it made no mention of breakfast and when we arrived the receptionist didn't mention breakfast, didn't point out where the breakfast room was or what the times of breakfast were so consequently we thought it wasn't included. It was when we checked the next day so we missed out on breakfast one day.

3. There was no hotel information or Naples information in the room or the lobby. Reception did their best to answer my questions but a few basic leaflets would be helpful.

But really - once they have those few teething problems sorted out I think it is going to be a great hotel.
It is hard to find though. We got a taxi from the airport and even though I wrote down the streets suggested by the hotel the driver dropped us somewhere else entirely and we spent a horrible 50 minutes trudging the streets with our suitcases.
So could I suggest that the hotel offers a slightly more acceptable price for a taxi transfer. The set rate in an airport taxi is less than 20 euros but the hotel price is 50 which I think is just a touch too expensive. If they put the price down to 40 I think they would get more takers.

If you want elegance with calm luxury this is the place for you. Lovely new hotel, great quality, super staff and good breakfast. Good place to go for a bit of sanity once you have been hit by Napoli!! Great location for being in the heart of the city but with tranquility once you cross into the hotel.

The hotel is beautiful, elegant and I'm sure that I'll return to the Palazzo Decumani. I had the superior spacious room and it was wonderful and clean. The view of Vesuvio behind the typical buildings! Only Kleenex were missing at the bathroom....

The position is interesting in the historical centre of Neapel and this hotel is real special one to stay in the heart of the city where you can feel life going on.....

The service of the breakfast could be better.....at 09.30 it was completely empty...maybe too late???? The girls serving breakfast were lovely ones and kind.

Hope to return soon!

Great hotel; very attentive staff by worldwide standards, incredibly attentive by Italian standards. Nice rooms with above average linen.
This hotel is an oasis in the sea of crazy madness called Naples.

We were delighted with both our plush room and the location of the of the Decmani, which seems to exist in fairly quiet area in the midddle of the hubbub. Extra little touches such as complimentary slippers and bathrobes made us feel really pampered. After reading about Italian breakfasts we weren't expecting much, but found a selection of cereals, pastries, meats, cheese and cake (and, most importantly, tea!). The staff were very helpful - as we were arriving late and many restaurants would be closed, they booked us one nearby, and they helped us arrange our onward travel to Positano. Near the end of our stay in Positano my husband realised he'd left his keys at the Decumani, and they arranged for them to arrive by boat (they did not charge for this but recommended that we tip the boat staff 5 Euros).

We'd heard bad reports of Naple's crime and dirty streets, but we really enoyed experiencing such a vibrant city full of history and interesting characters. As we only stayed one night, we definitely want to return, and we wil definitely be returning to the Decumani.

One tip: Make sure you try pizza at Di Matteo on via Tribunali 94 (a short walk from the hotel). It was heaving with locals when we were there, and is the place Bill Clinton visited. The pizzas were delicious and very cheap, however the decor is very plain - it's all about the pizza.
