A reveiw any higher than average would be a lie. The hotel is nice and comfortable. One point that is metioned repeatedly in reveiws, is its location. It is where the locals refer to as "historical" Naples. In plain terms it is the dodgy, shady, old, dirty side of town. The hotel seams to pop up out of nowhere in this un-pretty area. When you arrive, "a free welcome drink is provided on arrival", this however means we will give you a drink voucher to use at the bar when it opens at 6pm. A mere 4 + hours after actually arriving. The staff, are unhelpful and do not provide you with any information about your room or the area. Every previous hotel during our stay gave us maps and info about the area, but not the Palazzo Decumani. We wernt even shown to our room or told what floor it was on. Our room was nice and clean, bed was not so comfortable and our room keys did not work 90% of the time. The advice from the staff was to "jiggle" the key. Terrific! However the barman, was vey nice and helpful, even if he did grab the map out of my hands i was using to locate a resturant i wanted to try, to show my friend some places to visit despite us already having a tour booked. I got up and left the table immediately in order not to say somthing unpleasent to the barman. Overall the hotel is average, i wouldnt recommend it purley on service, or the lack of. And thats what hotels are these days anyway. No one wants to stay somwhere they dont feel looked after! And there are nice hotels in the nicer part of Naples. Stay there.

My wife and I recently spent 5 nights at Palazzo Decumani. Everything about the hotel was fantastic. Our room was on the fourth floor with a view of Vesuvius in the distance (apparently the only room with such a good view). The bed was firm which suited our preference. There was more than enough drawer space with 2, 4 drawer units in addition to the robe. The bathroom was functional with the bonus of large double heated towel rails which proved very useful for drying laundry. Breakfast was included and was scrumptious. Our favourite was the cheese and ham quiche. In addition they had cereals, juices, scrambled eggs, sausages, cold meats, cheese and cakes. The cappucinos were excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The free Wifi worked well without any dropouts. Finally, the location was ideal for what we wanted to see. We were able to walk everywhere.

This hotel was quite a pleasant surprise in a city that can otherwise be overwhelming if one does not know what to expect. Navigating by vehicle we got a bit lost trying to find the place and upon arrival were startled to find a homeless person fishing through the garbage dumpster across the street. It is a gritty area, but part of the appeal is in exploring the winding medieval neighbourhoods, which is made easy by the location of this hotel. The rooms are modern and tastefully decorated. Lots of storage space, king beds, bathrooms are luxurious. Bathrobes and heated towel racks are provided in every room. Breakfast was a welcome bonus as it is otherwise difficult to locate a hearty breakfast in this city. I would highly recommend this hotel. Our stay in Napoli was made very comfortable by selecting this hotel.

Staying at this hotel pre-positions you for shopping at all the "presepe" nativity scene shops and exploring the multiple layers of Greek, Roman, medieval history of Naples. It is encouraging to see some effort at historic preservation of a building in a part of town that desperately needs more investment and renovation

This is a lovely hotel, clean and modern. Breakfast is excellent, staff friendly and helpful. We will certainly stay here again when we return to Naples. The hotel is close to the street markets which are particularly lively around Christmas time.

Wonderful modern hotel but in the narrow streets of the old part of Naples, just a short walk to the streets selling cribs and nativity scenes. Easy to get anywhere in the city on foot, but not too far to a metro or the funicular.
We are a family of six adults and we went for six days over Christmas. The hotel staff could not have been more helpful - right from the time of booking. Well before our arrival they recommended and booked us into restaurants for Christmas Eve dinner and Christmas Day lunch - both reviewed separately (La Tana Dell'Arte and La Cantina Del Sole). They booked us a private guide and minibus tour of Pompepi on Christmas Eve, and to Paestum and Herculaneum on 26 December.
The hotel has excellent rooms - they gave us three rooms at the front on 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors, with views of Vesuvius from the top two - with a reasonable choice of breakfast. On arrival you are given a voucher for a free drink in the hotel bar - we made use of these when we returned from our first night's dinner and had a glass of bubbly - to which they added a slice of cake - a nice touch.
I would highly recommend this hotel.
