“This Hotel is just perfect to experience everything Neapolitan! Loved It!”
Reviewed June 17, 2010

The Decumani Hotel was positively so much more than we expected. It is ideally located in the historical part of Naples (just awesome) and just a 2 minute walk to streets and Piazzas lined with a wonderful array of everything Neapolitan from bars, restaurants, scrumptious deli shops, aromatic coffees, artisan craftwork, dazzling fine and costume jewellery, affordable Italian fashion and so much more. The Hotel is well placed for every access to transport routes, including buses and a 15 minute walk to the main train station. Taxis were also easily accessible, very reliable and not expensive due to the wonderful assistance from staff at the Decumani Hotel.

The entrance to the Hotel is unassuming but once you are inside it is just beautiful and welcoming. The rooms are spacious, modern and yet aspects of the building are centuries old. A real treasure.

The Hotel staff are exceptional with their knowledge of sightseeing suggestions and eateries, especially with our dietary needs (celiac), and they made us feel part of the family. It was so nice to come back to the Hotel after a full day of sightseeing. It was the type of place that we felt it was our home away from home.

Thank you to everyone at the Decumani Hotel for making our few days in Naples some of the most memorable we have experienced. We will be back.

We stayd at Decumani for 4 nights, we arrived from Rome after 20 days on the road in Italy and we really love the place, the staff and the location. The rooms are spacious and quiet, the Hotel is new, the breakfast was good but the guys at the reception really were special. We found the staff in various hotels throughout Italy VERY cold and rude ( mainly in Rome - Mercure corso trieste - and Milano - Starhotel Anderson ).
Once in Napoli we strongly recomend this hotel!

First, the other reviewers pictures are accurate. The hotel is on the second floor of an old building in the old section of Naples. The hotel has been refurbished and is very nice, rooms were good size and well appointed. The staff spoke English and were friendly. AND the WIFI WORKED.
The breakfast was good.
The bad, Naples is the dirtiest city I have been in, trash on the streets and graffiti on the walls, it was a scary place when we arrived after dark. However, we had no bad experiences and the locals were nice.
We stayed here as a central location to see Capri and Pompeii.

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel & loved it.
Read the reviews so that the arrival is not a shock..when you arrive on the 2nd floor a walm welcome awaits you, the interior is a complete contrast to the exterior.
Sandro & his staff all made us very welcome & soon felt like old friends.
Take the advice so happily & generously given, Sandro has huge enthusiasm for the city & a wealth of knowledge , he will gladly suggest trips, book restaurants ,search out music venues and help to guide you around.
The hotel hosts cultural events in the beautiful baroque hall of classical music, jazz & dance , so check the web site for details.
The bedroom was smallish but comfortable & had a shared balcony overlooking the street, no noise problems. The beds were good, the air con fine, shower room good & the mini bar fairly priced.
The hotel has areas to sit & relax but a coffee machine would have been welcome.
Breakfast in the grand hall was beautiful, the food entirely adequate but uninspiring.
I would recommend the subterrainean tour, the Madre (modern art) a boat trip (Sorrento was good), pizza @ Sorbillo & an Aperol in a square to enjoy the general buzz.
Thanks to all the staff @ the Decumani for making our stay such a pleasure.

The elevator is indeed small and a bit scary, but once your exit the elevator, the Hotel is elegant and the staff extremely welcoming. My room was impecably clean, with a mini-bar and safe. The breakfast is located in the ballroom which was breath-takingly beautiful. The in-room wifi didn't work, so I used the wifi in the common areas, which suited me just fine. A short day-tour was arranged for me and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'd recommend staying at the Decumani Hotel de Charme!

Beautiful rooms, elegant dining hall. Sandro, one of the managers, is incredibly helpful, knowledgable and kind. He went out of his way to recommend tours, delicious restaurants and tourist sites in Naples. Located on the third floor, the hotel has stairs, as well as an elevator lift. All of the staff is great, to be honest. Able to use the computer at the front desk to check internet/email without problems. Highly recommend this hotel.

This is a wonderful hotel tucked away on an upper floor of a somewhat dilapidated palazzo in the oldest part of Naples, but have no fear for the hotel itself is in beautiful condition. The room was spacious and elegant, if a bit under furnished. Lovely decor and very comfy bed. The breakfast room is magnificent (former ballroom?) but sadly the breakfast itself was not good. Stale bread and not enough of anything. They would do better to give up on the meagre buffet and do a first rate Italian 'continental' breakfast. The gentleman who welcomed us, Carlo, was wonderfully helpful and gave us lots of good tips. The place has atmosphere without giving up on comfort. A plus.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
We are glad to give you the warmest welcome as our guests into Palazzo Sisto Riario Sforza. Here, in the heart of Naples old town within inches of Santa Chiara Church with its Cloister, the Veiled Christ and Via San Gregorio Armeno was born, in 2008, our Hotel. The Decumani Hotel de Charme was originally built during the 17th century and belonged to Sisto Riario Sforza, the last Archbishop of Naples in the Bourbon Kingdom of the Two Sicilies of which Naples was the capital. In 2008 we embarked on a major refurbishment programme for the second floor, where the Hotel is placed. The hotel has now been fully restored and equipping with all the modern conveniences our guests expect. A wide lounge, decorated with golden stuccoes and mirrors, testifies the illustrious past of this residence. All of our 22 bedrooms are fully air-conditioned and feature the following: soundproof windows, flat screen Television with international channels, safe, minibar, direct dial telephone and hairdryer. The Decumani Hotel de Charme is located in the Decumani, in the heart of the old town originally a Greek "polis" and then a Roman "urbs", an area wich represents with its squares, streets and alleys, a unique historical, cultural and artistic heritage, as it is testified by the acknowledgment of Unesco, which in 1995 declared the historic centre of Naples " the biggest open-air museum in the world". ... more   less
