“Fantastic hotel in an ideal location”
Reviewed January 2, 2014

We went for a long weekend break to Naples on a flight + hotel deal through BA. We selected the Decumani Hotel de Charme based on its history and its location.

And we were well rewarded. This is a fantastic hotel in a renovated palazzo right in the centre of historic Naples, within walking distance of the key sites.
The staff were excellent and provided exceptional service. They were a better information source than the local tourist offices. Though there was PC terminal available for residents to do their own research, but it was quicker to ask the reception who provided copies of up to date train and bus schedules.

Fantastic breakfast in a glorious salon that reflected the faded glory of the palazzo.
Mini-bar - Very reasonably priced
No coffee/tea facilities in the room, but it was available through reception.

The only minor criticism was the WiFi in the bedrooms. It was erratic, but sufficient to catch up on messages. A PC terminal was available in the common area if you needed better connectivity.

We highly recommend this hotel. Very tempted to travel to Naples again!

We stayed at this hotel just before Christmas 2013. We were nervous when the taxi dropped us off as the hotel is not obvious. We shouldn't have been. The staff were fabulous. Great fun, warm and full of Christmas spirit. The dining room/salon is really stunning. Breakfast was relaxed - good coffee served by a lovely italian lady who sang quietly to herself as she worked. We were very happy here. If you are a piano player then the grand piano in the salon is another joy.
We had booked a deluxe room which unfortunately wasn't available but our standard room was good with a wonderfully high ceiling. We had a no quibble refund.
Our teenage daughters were as delighted as we were this hotel as it is very close to all the attractions and restaurants. We would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: If standard room as for high ceiling

We stayed in this hotel for 8 nights.
Hotel is perfectly located in historical center on Naples - walking distance to almost all major attractions. Lots of very good restaurants, pizzerias and cafeterias around.
Accommodations are not luxury but very adequate.
Cleanliness is impeccable. Breakfast is not abundant, but very sufficient with choice of yogurts, cereal, juices, different pastries, cheese and parpadella sausage, tea and fresh coffee made to order. The breakfast room is very unique and beautiful, and makes this hotel very special.
The beds are bit on the firmer side, but not overly so.
We felt ourselves pretty safe walking surrounding narrow streats at the evening. Although be aware of bikes and cars, which sometimes drive like crazy and can appear unexpectedly from behind every corner.
But what stands out is THE CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Easily one of the best we ever experienced.
We want to thank the all hotel staff and especially Irene and Carlo for making our stay at the hotel very comfortable and providing lots of information, which helped to make our experience with exploring Naples and surrounding areas seamless and more interesting.
We would definitely recommend this hotel to everybody.

Tips:
For great pizza go to Gino Sorbillo at about 7PM to avoid huge crowd.
For great coffee go to Gran cafe Ciorfito - 5 minutes walk. After we tried their coffee - we were basically going in circles around the place.

Let us start with the staff.....they are exceptional; helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Their recommendations of local restaurants were excellent and they were happy to learn about new venues from the guests.
The dining room is worth the stay on its own! It is magnificent! The breakfast is plentiful and of good quality and variety.
The bedroom was well furnished, clean, comfortable and spacious. The bathroom was modern and again, clean and spacious.
Full marks for housekeeping,
The location of this hotel is perfect for exploring the historical city centre of Naples and also within walking distance of the seafront. Should you need the railway station, this is also within walking distance.
The free Wifi system tended to fail now and again in the bedroom....but there are comfortable sofas and armchairs close to Reception where the signal was uninterrupted. But this is a very minor criticism.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to others.....we shall definitely return.

Just returned from Naples and don't be put off going because of it's bad rep. The hotel was warm welcoming and the staff couldn,t do enough to help they spent ages with a map helping us get the best out of our stay. The room was grand as was the breakfast room with a great italian breakfast. The one area it could be improved is by tea or coffee available in the room, but the mini bar is well stocked and very reasonable. I would certainly return.

What a lovely hotel. It was cleaned everyday, very spacious room, with three beds, it did not feel claustrophobic in any way and the staff were just so very helpful, polite and pleasant. No request was too much for them to handle and all requests responded to in a warm and pleasant manner. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to stay there. It was close to the center and their recommendations for evening was always spot on. Not like some hotels who are paid my restauranteurs to to recommend them and they turn out to be pretty awful. We all enjoyed the restaurants recommended by the hotel receptions.

Room Tip: Not sure which side our room was situated but had no problems with noise or anything untoward. Wond...

Just visited with friends for a 4 night break and found the hotel very nice. Ignore getting to it (the cab driver left us 30 yards away pointing down what appeared to be an alleyway) and the entrance, once inside it's great. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was laid back Italian service, having to ask for things which would turn up eventually - 'life is long' as they say! Rooms very large and clean and comfortable. The only thing it was lacking was a bar where we could have met before going out or upon returning, but there are quite a few nearby.
