“Marvelous Experience - CASA MORGANO Exceeds all Expectations!”
Reviewed June 18, 2011

I can rave about every detail of our trip but I will try to keep this rating short.

My wife and I stayed at Casa Morgano for 5 nights of our 14 day Italian honeymoon. When it was time for us to move on, we immediately regretted not staying longer.

We arrived mid-afternoon after a stressful (I'll spare the details) transfer from Rome to Capri. The moment we stepped off the ferry we were greeted by Sergio, Casa Morgano's ferryside everything man (he handed us our Funiculare tickets, handled our luggage transfer to the hotel and gave us much needed directions to Casa Morgano). When we entered the hotel we were immediately greeted by name by the ever friendly Roberto (concierge) who immediately directed us to the poolside area where we were quickly handed two much needed glasses of wine and a refreshing Caprese salad, while he handled our check-in. Needless to say we were off to a great start.

The highlight of this hotel, without a doubt, is the unbelievable service. Luigi (concierge) truly made our trip. He was genuinely interested in satisfying our every need, want, desire, dream (you get the picture...). He made every effort to personalize this trip for us, he sent us to the Augustus gardens after the day-trippers had left for the day so that we had the gardens virtually to ourselves! On one occasion, we were casually walking on the main when Luigi fresh off from work at Casa Morgano spotted us and made sure to stop and ask if we needed anything, he reminded us that we hadn't made any dinner reservations for that evening and was wondering if he would like him to find something... he is genuine and wonderful. A HUGE thanks goes out to him in particular.

The rooms are a bit dated, but other than that they are A+. Great balcony, with an absolutely incredible view!

The location of the hotel is absolutely perfect. It is a stone's throw away from the main, which is just far enough to keep the day-trippers at bay. The crowds can quite heavy during the day, but stay the night and you get a true feel of just how romantic Capri can be.

I strongly suggest a day trip on a boat to tour the island (Suggested to us by Luigi), there is even more to discover from the water. Cut the line for the Grotta Azzura, discover the Grotta Verde and many other small grottoes. Go for a swim almost anywhere you please, stop for a bite at some of the coastal restaurants or pack your own lunch and drop anchor.

Casa Morgano is clearly the little sister of the Quisisana (Capri's flagship hotel). Quisisana looked spectacular, we saw the pool, lobby and spa, and we had drinks out front the place to people watch. Seeing as it is THE hotel to stay at in Capri, it attracts all of the most wealthy and famous people travelling to Capri, some may say it is intimidating and gives off a bit of a stuck-up vibe (didn't bother me). Needless to say it certainly sets the example for the island and Casa Morgano has all of its qualities less the stuck-up factor, which suited us just fine!

All in all, not such a short rating (couldn't help it) - More importantly this was the most memorable 5 nights of our honeymoon. We had an incredible experience in Capri. We will most certainly return to stay at Casa Morgano!

Just returned from our Honeymoon at stay in Capri (May 16-19) at Casa Morgano. It truly is a unique hotel. From the moment you see it as you walk along Via tragara you know you are in for a special stay. Luigi at the front desk took such special care of us and went above and beyond for everything. From nightly reservations for dinner to get us the best possible table, arranging all our train tickets and transportation to Rome, he was so warm and lovely and made our stay extra special.

The hotel itself is rather small so you always feel kind of like you have the place to yourself. The lobby when you walk in is beatiful and the infinity pool is just breathtaking. We would breakfast there daily (where they have lovely croissants and all those touches, but will make you whatever you like including omlettes, eggs, really whatever your heart desires) or you can have them bring it your room. We were upgraded to a beautiful terrace room with sweeping views of the east side of the island. Truely Via Tragara is the PERFECT location to stay at. You are just a short walk from the center of Capri with great shops and restaurants at your fingertips, and far enough to enjoy what I think is the prettiest street (via tragara) in all of Capri. The rooms where very large, and our bathroom had a lovely jacuzzi and seperate shower. All the bathroom amenities where the same as the Hotel Quissiana which the Morgano family also owns. We had drinks some afternoons on the terrace off of the lobby there which was great. The weather was warm during our stay so we definitley took advantage of the pool and also went to La Fontalina one day which was amazing. Best Sangria and what an awesome experience laying out near the Faraglioni.

Again I can't say enough good things about Casa Morgano. We loved our hotel in Positano too but honestly.. nothing can compare in my mind to the perfect place to relax in a luxurious enviroment while they make you feel like you are truly in their home. We will be sure and return within the next couple years. Also we are a couple who are 29-30 from NY.

We though Casa Morgano was an incredible deal. I think we paid about 180 euros for this place which is or should be a 4 star hotel. It’s owned by the same people who own the luxury flagship Quisiana on Capri. They give you the Quisi bath amenities, etc. But it’s the views that make the place. Our balcony room looked over the back of the island with giant pines overhead and glimpses of the sea beyond. The rooms were small, but they were comfortable and nicely furnished. The public rooms were ornate with lots of gold trim here and there and elaborately tiled floors. The most beautiful place in the hotel was their small pool in the front next to which they served their included buffet breakfast, again with pines overhead and views of the sea beyond. Relaxing and lovely. To get to our room we had to walk up a flight of stairs and cross an open tiled balcony—a sort of outdoor public terrace. There was a table with cracked vase sitting forlornly in the area which suggested they could use some sprucing up but overall the place was well attended and a real bargain for what it provided. The location is on the path leading out of the main part of Capri town, so it is quiet but that also means you have to walk a bit to get to the “downtown” area.

Our first trip to Capri met with trepidation as the ferry crossing from Sorrento was horrendous, my husband gripping the table and muttering that he hated me for making him go to Capri. Would he ever speak to me again if the hotel I chose was awful as well? Well Casa Morgana saved the day in every respect. The welcoming professional staff upon seeing his grey face and my stressed out look, sent a tray of camomile tea and dry toast to the room to settle his stomach and my nerves. And what a room, and the view and atmosphere. The romantic holiday was back on. We ended up extending our stay. Our visit to Axel Munthe's Villa San Michele was a highlight and I am busy reading his biography and missing Capri immensely since we returned last week. The hotel was the best we stayed in 4 weeks in Italy . The breakfast is worth a mention. Quality food and ingredients and wonderful service. I felt very comfortable trying out my freshly learnt Italian on the poor staff who took it on the chin in good spirit. We hope to return soon.

We just returned from a 5 night stay at Casa Morgano and wanted to report that we thought the entire hotel, staff, and overall experience was superlative. The hotel is exactly what you want from a high-end, boutique hotel in Italy - it is small, beautiful, friendly, gracious, and with impeccable service that is simultaneously welcoming and personable but extremely competent and effective. The location is unbeatable in our opinion - on Via Tragara - the most beautiful walking street on the island just a few minutes past the action of the main Piazzetta. A few minutes past the gorgeous shops and the crowds trickle away and - especially at night - you are left with twinkling lights, honeysuckle scented air, and beautiful hotels and homes. Yet, you don't have to walk TOO far down Via Tragara, so you don't feel like you are schlepping. CM is next to their equally (and slightly more expensive/rarefied) La Scalinetella property and shares some facilities.

We had a 2 bedroom suite with double terraces facing the sea. The rooms were lovely, spotless, and decorated in the typical blue and white tiles of Capri (note - every room is different on the property). Housekeeping was unobtrusive, very friendly, and always spot on. The entire staff at the front desk and at breakfast was absolutely fantastic and I can't fault them for anything. They made all of our dinner reservations, travel transfer reservations (including arranging private driver for transfer from Naples train station to they hydrofoil, to the taxi from Capri's Marina Grande Harbor, to being escorted during the walk through town to the hotel...and then in reverse on our outbound). Nothing was too much to ask.

We spent 2 glorious days at La Fontelina beach club (our absolute favorite thing to do on Capri from previous trips), relaxing, swimming, and having amazing lunches and unbeatable sangria. We cannot recommend this more highly as a way to really "experience" Capri, avoid crowds, and just melt into the island life. We enjoyed dinners at Edode (2x), Sollievo, and Aurora. Lunched also at La Conca del Sogno on Nerano - another favorite "must do" for us when we are in the area.

All of this with our very cool little 4.5 year old son in tow. He loved everything we did and we were made to feel very welcome by everyone at Casa Morgano and everyone we met in Capri. Waiters and waitresses began saying hi to our son where ever they saw him walking around Capri town and ruffling his hair - we definitely felt it to be a friendly place. Please note - we have been to Capri and the Amalfi coast several times before, so we did not feel the urge to race around trying to "see and do" everything typically first-timers try to do. Having said that, I do think the essence of Capri is very laid back and relaxed and that you cannot grasp that without letting go of the touristica thing that throngs the main Piazzetta during the day. Avoid the crowds during the day - do a beach club or boat, then enjoy Capri at night when it is quiet, romantic, and fantastic.

We will definitely return to Casa Morgano and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nice splurge on Capri.

We needed a hotel room at the last minute, and Mr. Morgano and his wonderful staff were extremely welcoming. I can't say enough about the staff -- they will see you in the street and say hello even when they are off duty. Mr. Morgano, whose family owns the Quisiana, was on hand every day, and it shows; the hotel is clean and fabulously run. I can't wait to return.

Stayed three nights at Casa Morgano, Agust 1-4, 2010. Location at Via Tragara is excellent. Close enough to center of Capri, but far enough as well when crowded during the day. Very nice walk from property to center of town. Staff at hotel could not be more accomodating. Room was large, luxurious and clean. Beautiful views from balcony. Breakfast is sufficient. We will be back.
