The best seafood is fresh, and prepared such a way as to accent the natural flavors of the sea.The menu included fish, lobster, shrimps, pasta, pizza, home made desserts and cakes, and a good selection of wine. “Nice Sea Food Pizza”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2014

I visited this restaurant with my wife for dinner.
We ordered fried calamari, steamed mussel and sea food pizza. The mussel was good for its source and texture. The fried calamari had too much portion of fried oil because the piece of calamari was too small, and it was heavy for my stomach. The sea food pizza was very nice not only for the sea food on the pizza but for its tasty and nice textured pizza itself. Also, the balance between seafood and tomato source was good. According to the recommendation from waiter, we tried a bottle of white wine, named VISTAMARE produced in Toscana by Gaja. The Gaja wine is normally not so cheap, but this wine cost only around 35EUR, and the taste was very nice. The total cost for two persons including wine, water and tea were 90 EUR. Especially, I recommend a sea food pizza in this restaurant.

“A fantastic surprise by the port...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 19, 2014

We recently went to visit the mecca of pizza, that being Naples. Feeling hungover, we took a last minute ferry across to Capri on a Sunday morning. Catching a bit of sun at a bar on the port, we were pointed at Approdo for good pizza without heading up into town. We were a bit apprehensive, assuming we'd wasted an opportunity to try yet another Naples pizzeria.

The staff were very friendly, great outdoor seating, and the requisite wood-fired over just inside the entrance. The menu is clearly focused on seafood... so we broke our rule of only eating pizza on this trip and added an octopus salad for good measure.

The octopus salad arrived as a first course and it was fabulous... extraordinarily fresh and mildly sweet, you could easily see the differing textures within each piece. Bravo, easily one of the best octopus experiences I've witnessed (having traveled most of the Mediterranean and japan!).

We ordered Margherita pizzas for easy comparison with Naples best... it was delivered in short order and we were pleasantly surprised: it easily competed with quality pies in Naples. Excellent natural sweetness in the crushed tomato and great texture in the cheese. The crust was on the slightly firmer/chewier side of Neapolitan style, very authentic just the same.

If this pizzeria was in Naples, it would attract a 4 of 5 rating... being that it is in Capri, has friendly staff, is located by the port, and had that world-class octopus salad: I'm giving it a 5 of 5.

“Don't go if you're hungry”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 16, 2014 via mobile

Or if you're expecting to get what you ordered. Mediocre food, high prices but the service, oh the service, is horrible. One hour between starters and main dishes, beer ordered was provided after third request, main dishes were in the vicinity if what we ordered, ie they remembered something with fish.. Courtesy isn't their virtue as well

“Dockside lunch”

We had an excellent dockside lunch of two terrific pizzas, sautéed clams and fried calamari. The pizzas were perfectly cooked. The clams were tasty and overall outstanding.

“A paradise of good food and warm and attentive service! ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 8, 2014 via mobile

We arrived to Capri at around 15:00 hrs as a party of 8 people who were driving through the Amalfi Coast since 7:30 that morning. All starving and tired! On our way to Capri we called several restaurants cited at our lonely planet guidebook and trip advisor reviews only to find out that they were closed for winter or those which were open were closing up at 15:00. The only one that was open until 16:00 was L'approdo and thanks god it was L'approdo! We were the only customers at the restaurant when we arrived there at a late afternoon hour on an off-season day. We had low expectations and hoped to find some basic and hopefully fresh food but instead we were offered very delicious and delicate antipasti (both sea fruit and winter specialties) followed by lovely home made ravioli and perfect spaghetti ai frutti di mare and crowned with a very well cooked and very fresh grilled fish! Accompanied with house white wine which was also very good. Monica and the brother, the owners who lived at a flat on top of the restaurant, were very kind and did their best to make us comfortable and happy and we were! Unlike some reviews that complained about the service and the treatment to tourists we had a very warm approach from the owners who served us. We were offered some very delicious and fresh sea fruit (some sort of a clam) when we inquired if they had scallops as an alternative and it was also very good. I reckon that the fact that I speak Italian might have contributed to our communication but still we could see that it was a genuine effort to make the guests happy. Overall l'approdo was the highlight of our trip to Capri!
