“Very good place to stay”
Reviewed August 9, 2013

Thanks go to tripadvisor for suggesting this hotel. It is a very good place to stay with amazing views and nature. Rooms are good and room service is very good. Concierge service is very helpful and friendly giving good suggestions about local restaurants and beaches. Great swimming pool is also here. I am considering to stay here again sometime in autumn or spring.

Room Tip: Sea view room with a balcony is a must here to get the fullest satisfaction!

We've stayed twice now at Hotel Luna and loved it each time. It's like an oasis in the middle of Capri which can get very busy during the day. We had a beautiful view of Il Faraglioni from our room - beautiful. The breakfast is delicious - try the cakes - honestly, even for breakfast. I found the staff always to be very nice and obliging. I would love to go back again.

We spent the first 3 nights of our official honeymoon at Hotel Luna. We got off to a bit of a rocky start and weren't greeted as warmly as we had hoped. That said, by the end of our visit the staff had warmed up and redeemed the shaky welcome.
We loved the location - close to everything you'd want to see in Capri but at the end of a long walk so it felt more removed and peaceful.
We opted to eat dinner all three evenings at the hotel and it was relaxing, great service and very delicious food.
The pool is lovely during the day and is large enough to be entertained with some people watching :).
We opted for a courtyard room, which does not include the infamous view, but definitely was a great value.
We would absolutely recommend Hotel Luna to any of our friends visiting Capri!

We like to joke with the word Luna that evokes the planet that shines in the Capri's sky and in the sea in front of the Hotel, but also evokes the dream of the"Luna di miele", for which so many couples choose our Hotel. Wishes for a long and peaceful life

We spent 4 nights at Hotel Luna in July. As others have said the location is good and views are beautiful...but you would hope so for the price. Whilst the grounds are well maintained and lovely, this is not really that important unless you plan to spend most of your time at the hotel, which is not something we ever do. The rooms were nice and well taken care of, we had a 1 bedroom apartment and were happy with it, a little pokey, but it is Italy. Where this hotel is a let down is really by the aloofness of the staff. They are not that helpful, and I would not call them friendly by any stretch of the imagination at times slightly rude. There is a very nice pool but the lunch restaurant attached is formal and you can not have lunch brought to you. It may have been that we had just spent 4days at the Eden Roc hotel in Positano, which not only provided great facilities but outstanding service, they were friendly, approachable, never rude and always with a smile so we had high expectations. I would recommend this hotel to older holiday travellers who would like to spend their days in the hotel venturing out to Capri town in the evenings.

Your review has been read by the Hotel Manager, which has communicated it to the Personnel, because is really far from our intention to offer a careless service, even in cases of special requests. Thanks for your attention.

I've stayed at Hotel Luna three times now over the last five years. This was the first time I went with my family including my husband and me, and three children aged 20, 18 and 16. The location is spectacular and the hotel very beautiful and faultless. What really made it for me this time was just how much effort all of the staff made for me, my husband and my children. Nothing was too much trouble.

Room Tip: Make sure you splurge to get one of the rooms overlooking the sea. However, even the children's...

After spending a couple of days in Rome we took the Frecciarossa super-fast train (298 km/h on our voyage), from Rome to Naples and then to Capri by boat. We have visited Capri last time 24 years ago, so we did not know what to expect i.e. whether the island has changed. But we shouldn’t have been worried. Capri is still and it certainly will remain one of the most beautiful places in the world. Place where the charm and elegance of fifties and sixties still can be sensed and seen.

Above said charm is also true for Hotel Luna. There is not any special reason to leave the hotel at all during your holiday unless you want to, because the hotel is located in an incredibly beautiful place, far end of a beautiful garden just on the edge of a cliff. Capri city center is only a stone's throw away. There is a swimming pool of a good size with a restaurant that serves very good lunch. The food quality meets the standards of any other good restaurant in Capri. We spent only one day at the pool and rather walked around the island, but had great lunch several times there. We did not dine at the hotel in the evening but we trust that the food quality is the same high standard.

The service level of the staff was good; discreet and polite, just the way we have expected it to be. Have to say that same treatment we got everywhere in Capri.

Our room was facing towards the swimming pool and the hill behind it and on the right side we saw also the world's most famous rocks; Faraglioni.

The room was bright, beautiful, beds were very good (for all purposes they are meant to) and the bathroom was clean, large enough and functioning (this last said is an issue to which we will pay special attention in future, due to our last days in Rome (see Demetra hotel) .

Luna towels and robes were thick material, the beds were done twice a day and mini bar was filled up early every morning during our breakfast.

What to do in Capri - in addition to eating and drinking? Basic tourist attractions are of course a must; Blue Grotto, Villa San Michele, Monte Solaro, Via Krupp, the Villa Jovis and Parco Astarita. The chairlift to Monte Solaro was so much fun that we did it twice. To go between Capri, Anacapri, Marina Grande and Marina Piccola can be done by bus but also by funny Capri taxis, all of which the roof have been cut of and replaced with fabric.

Since Capri has hardly any beaches, one will sunbath at special bathing establishments. Our favorite was Da Luigi ai Faraglioni right next to Faraglioni rocks. There is also a very good restaurant, where we had our lunch twice.

To mention another restaurant, that would be Edode, where we dined several times.

In Piazzetta you will always get good service and good drinks too. In Hotel La Palma lobby bar terrace you can listen to the music and watch people wandering around and when the time is right return to Luna hotel and listen to the quite.

The story of your journey is very romantic! The photos are stunning, both the Hotel Luna's pictures and the "Fortini" footpath's pictures. You have become really "capresi", walking through the most suggestive places of the island. Best wishes and congratulations.

I spent four nights at this lovely, refined and low key hotel (think: no starlets and rich wannabes) in mid June 2013. The property is beautifully located on the quiet side of the little glitzy town of Capri, and is very well kept with terrific amenities (pool, pool bar/cafe, fitness area, lounge/bar, restaurant, etc.). The views are extraordinary. The staff are gentlemen and gracious. They gave me excellent tips on how to spend my time on the island (I was traveling alone which I think is rare for Capri). The continental breakfast each day was first class.

My little room for one was perfect - no bigger or smaller than necessary with a comfortable bed, safe and spacious bathroom with terrific (and plentiful) towels. Housekeeping was a tiny bit inconsistent (turn down service on my first two days but not my last two, inconsistent replenishment of bathroom amenities).

I've always wanted to visit Capri and overall, it was a bit disappointing - beautiful, yes, expensive, yes (but no more expensive than Vancouver, Canada where I live), but a bit too Euro trashy and glitzy for me. Lots of very expensive shopping. I made a habit of staying out of the main little town, which was overrun by day trippers from cruise ships any way. I walked (almost) everywhere and this was the best way to see everything and to keep the weight down after many delicious pasta meals! Still extraordinarily beautiful though and worth a stop if it's on your list of things to do. Highlights included dinner at E Di Vino (hard to find) and dinner at Sfizio (a bit of a walk but worth it), the circle walk to Arco Naturale and around back to the village and the Laser boat tour of the island including paying extra to go into the Grotto Azzurro - touristy but totally worth it. Fantastic limone gelato at the little stand just near the Hotel Luna. The pedi road from near the hotel down to Marino Piccolo is totally worth the effort. Stunning views. Marina Piccolo felt like a throw back to the 60s. You can catch a cab or bus back to Capri. :)

Thank you for writing about Hotel Luna. Your travel experience makes your review particularly precious. You also helped us to emphasize that in Capri there are no inconveniences for those who travel alone, the days can be spent in many different ways, depending on personal preference. Friendliness.
