“Beautiful Hotel in a wonderful location”
Reviewed June 6, 2013

We just returned from our trip to Capri and the Amalfi coast. We stayed in Hotel Luna for three nights in the end of May. This hotel is beautiful- it is the perfect blend of modern, yet, still authentic old world Italian. We had a very nice, large room with a terrace overlooking the Faraglioni. Our room was tastefully decorated and had an amazing modern bathroom. It was so pleasant to wake up at dawn and sit on the terrace and feel the peace of the ocean, listen to the birds and the wind. The hotel is situated in a great location, right next to the Gardens of Augustus, and within a short walk to town. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The food in the restaurant was great- I had the best Ravioli Caprese here!

Room Tip: Get a room with ocean view if you can spare it!

A secret for you: recipe for homemade “ravioli capresi”.
Bon appetite!

I loved this hotel. It felt so much more like staying in someone's home than it did a generic hotel. The rooms are great, the hotel is clean and nice. I don't give it 5 stars because I stayed in some ultimate luxury where everything was perfect (la sireneuse in positano, can't compare anything to that!), and this is definitely an older hotel but beautiful and nicely done. Great cocktails overlooking the Faraglioni rocks, great access to a beautiful hike and far away enough from the center of everything that it felt nicely somewhat removed. Still, it's less than a 5 min walk into the main square. The hotel was very beautiful, well landscaped. It was perfect, and Pino (the man who personally attended to our luggage and the funicular) was awesome as well as the waiter we had who helped us with our manhattans while sitting in the patio one evening. Would definitely go back. Did not try the food here.

My wife and I had a balcony room with seaview (there included the Faraglioni). It really was a breath taking view (specially considering we were in our honeymoon).
The hotel is great, with an efficient service and the price is average (at least for Capri's standard)... It is worth money!
Its location is good. It is a walk distance both to the center (furniculare, suvenier stores and coffe shops) and to the Via Krupp (which is the way to the beach).
We do recommend it.

Room Tip: Balcony seaview

My wife and I have stayed at this hotel three times now, and it is still one of the better bargains on Capri. As others note, the views of the Faraglioni Rocks is stunning, probably the best hotel view on the entire island. The pool is extremely nice, well situated, and the pool service quite good, I could easily spend my entire trip laying out at the pool all day. The rooms are all pretty nice, there are some less expensive rooms that face away from the sea if you are looking for a lower price. The restaurant and breakfast service are typical for a hotel of this nature, very upscale and nice, there is a very pretty veranda covered with vines where they serve breakfast. The hotel bar has a small patio off the side where you can sit and sip a Campari and soda while watching the private yachts off the island. All in all, a really nice place for less money than some of the other high end hotels on the island like the Quisisana. We definitely will go back.

Room Tip: If you plan to spend most of your time outside like we do, you can save some money by taking a room...

Dear Guest, your care is rewarding; the reviews of a traveler so experienced like you are very important to our hotel, we thank you for having highlighted the comfort of the rooms "no ocean view" and the consistency of tariffs. We hope to welcoming you again with your Wife.

The Hotel Luna has the best views of the famous Faraglioni Rocks of Capri. They were right outside our balcony. This is a gem for the area.It is well situated to the main town and within walking distance of restaurants and shops. There was a very helpful concierge who suggested we rent a boat for 7 of us to tour the island and see the Blue Grotto. This turned out to be a fabulous way to see Capri. We went right in between the famous rocks in our boat! It was an easy way to get in a small boat to see the Blue Grotto and we were allowed to swim in the Blue Grotto. This is a reasonable priced hotel for Capri with its central location.

Dear Guest, we are pleased to being narrated so positively by you, traveller - with eyes and heart - in so wonderfull places of the world. An insight to the Blue Grotto, from a privileged point of view, is unmissable in Capri and the island tour, with private boat, is much appreciated by our Guests, it is not risky and not crowded.
We hope to meet you again here with your Family.

The final stop of our 11 day Italian tour was the best! This boutique hotel is the perfect combination of location, style and class. Outstanding grounds to walk around keeps the hotel away from the well traveled paths filled with tourists such as ourselves. Yet the hotel is close enough to the central plaza to make it easy to connect via bus to other parts of the island. We splurged for a sea view room and got the most amazing views from our balcony out over the Mediterranean and the famous Faraglioni rocks. You cannot go wrong with this hotel.

Room Tip: Go for the Sea View rooms

Thanks for the photos that you have titled "Oh say, can you see?"; we think that it is taken from the outdoor gym; you just caught the characteristic colors of Capri! You were very kind to send us your thoughts.

After a wonderful stay at our 'five star' hotel we proceeded to meet our luggage dockside. A problem occurred when our voucher could not be found in the system. An angel in the form of Mr. Pino appeared and took charge. After finding the agent for our tour company Mr. Pino was able through friendly insistence, to correct the problem and we were able to continue traveling to Naples. Mr. Pino treated us most kindly and was respectful to everyone.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
We can be in no other place than Capri’s Hotel Luna. “Tell me if there is another spectacle on earth which can compare with this” wrote Alexandre Dumas as he gazed at the Faraglioni rocks way back in 1816. “No, there isn’t” you instinctively want to answer, as you sit on the sweeping terrace of Hotel Luna, watching the setting sun paint the legendary sea stacks a shade of fiery red, or stroll through the gardens on a summer evening, in the silvery light of the Capri moon. Watching the sun rising over the sea, whiling away a morning lazing by the pool, relishing a delicious lunch of insalata caprese and fresh fruit, taking a spot of exercise in the panoramic fitness corner, enjoying a candlelit dinner overlooking the Faraglioni, savoring a bottle of wine with that special someone on the terrace of your room.
