“Far too busy”
Reviewed October 23, 2012

You arrive here by ferry from Sorrento, so cannot avoid. It was crowded with people pushing, taxis & buses trying to sell you their trips. We headed straight out of it & went to the "centro" via a long steep climb through lovely lanes.

“Its hard to avoid”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

You'll be traveling through this area if you take a ferry to the island. Expect to pay about 10 euro for cab to your hotel, or take the bus for 1.8 euro. Also, anything with the words "blue grotto" in the will automatically cost 40% more. I.e. pizzarias, shops, resturants, etc.

For shopping and dining try Anacapri instead.

“Busy part of Capri”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

A very touristy part of Capri (but then again the whole island is very touristic) but a great introduction to the island. The port is very busy with boats of all shapes and sizes docking quickly, disgorging their human cargo and slipping back out to sea as quick as possible. There are some touristic restaurants for the hungry and thirsty and the tourist office (which sells a very good and inexpensive island map) is a great resource near the ferry terminal.

Try not to spend too much time here (although on a fine day it would be a photographers dream). And make the most of the funicular and get up to the real Capri!

“Packed with tourists”
Reviewed October 5, 2012

Marina Grande is packed with tourists taking the boats to anywhere from Napoli, Sorrento, Amalfi etc and the most annoying thing is the way they push their way ahead.

You can take the funicular up to the top of the mountain for 4 euros one way and return on foot, although no one seem to do it.

“total chaos”
Reviewed October 2, 2012

on arriving in Capri, you are not greeted with a serene island like you would expect. the port is bustling with tourist traps and the signage for tourist info or ferry/bus tickets is poor at best.
