“Very nice pampering rooms with friendly staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 23, 2013

My wife and I stayed there for 3 nights. The checkin process is interesting and the rooms are big and with a spectacular view of the sea and the sky.
The bathrooms are luxurious and if you don't get shy you can shower with the marina as your view.

A friend recommended the hotel and we enjoyed a lot. We stayed for two nights and we got there the reception was friendly, we had Sparkling wine while waiting for the room.
Our room couldnt be better. The name of the room was Castelo. Its near the breakfast place, quiet, good view of the sea and mountains...and great terrace.
Staff was kind and friendly. Imagine that My wife forgot a ring in the safe lock when we left the hotel to Positano. They found the ring and kept for us. The distance from Capri center for me was not a problem. The shuttle was always there and the Capri bus is so easy to go everywhere.

Room Tip: I got the Castelo room! Perfect!

This was our first trip to Capri and our travel company listed Hotel Villa Marina as a one hotel we would enjoy. Capri was our final stop in a 15 day tour of Italy,.Upon arriving to the hotel, we were greeted very warmly by the young woman at the reception desk. It was near dinner time and we were offered a light snack and drink out on the terrace area. The attendant even brought seat cushions out for us. The hotel is situated in a really quaint part of town; church bells and athletic field all in close proximity. The rooms are a bit small and cramped. We actually had a difficult time fitting our luggage without tripping over it. But, still stylish and the beds were comfy.
Our room was facing the pool and had a fabulous view of the ocean.
The bathroom was definitely not cleaned prior to our entry. It was designed a bit tricky to say the least...the huge "banana shaped" sink was not user friendly and was also very dirty when we first entered the room. I had to call to have it cleaned and the cleaning attendant argued that "we had dirtied the sink" as she commented that the faucet had been "turned on". I found this a bit odd, but she cleaned the bathroom and smiled as she left our room. We decided to order room service upon arrival at the recommendation of the concierge. He commented that the chef was an incredible addition to the hotel and the food was amazing. We cancelled our restaurant reservations and ordered light sandwiches and grilled veggies. The sandwiches came, no veggies. The sandwiches were cold and not very appetizing. The waiter, who was quite attentive, said he would get our grilled veggies immediately. Thirty minutes later , they arrived cold and flavorless...not like the tasty grilled veggies we had experienced during our travels through Italy.
Breakfast was a similar experience. Coffee had to be"ordered" and there was a lack of waitstaff during breakfast. Coffee took way too long to be served and it seemed as though they were making it cup by cup...very odd.
Eggs were also not readily available as in the other hotels we stayed in and to be ordered as well. All in all, the Hotel Villa Marina is a cute boutique hotel set away from the hustle and bustle of the main area. If you are seeking something small and modern, this is your place.

Room Tip: Stay in the higher level ocean side rooms.

I like your title !!!!

thanks for your comments on your stay and very sorry to understand that we have not fully satisfied your expectation of hospitality .....

may I just reply with some notes on your comments .....Negri Room is a stylish room and this means also banana shaped sink in black Marble.....that sometimes or better at the end of the season will highlights limestone, which could be removed only with deep and technical instruments from specialized company.....unfortunatly at first sight might be seen as something else......very sorry about that but not dirty at all!

our housekeeping department this year and in all 2013 reviews have had the best score for cleaning /order/care ...they really feel responsable and manage this house as their proper house so your comment comes to me as shower in august .....

For the restaurant I grant you that we have a really good fine mediterranean cuisine and our chef is very renomated in the area having being formed from Gualtiero Marchesi in Paris ....i think the room service must be replaced immediatly ....he didn t understand properlythe order and make it in two separate ones .....

Breakfast is served "express" starting from Coffee .....and arriving to the eggs ....we decide to do it served becasue of freshness reason ....we provide our guest the " Eggs Menù" ...it should be a pleasure and sense of unique services , wouldn't it ?

Please feel free to call me also directly , I would like to show you the "essence of Beauty" of Villa Marina that remains a small Boutique hotel in order to provide more intimate atmosphere and familiar services with attention at "quality " instead of " standard luxury chain format".

I remain at your complete disposal with all my staff

with our warmest regards ......

We stayed for two nights at the VM and thoroughly enjoyed the friendliness and hospitality of the staff. They greeted us with warmth and smiles, and gave us excellent recommendations for restaurants (Villa Verde, Da Georgia, etc.). The pool suite was beautiful - spacious with lovely decor - and the views from the terrace (marina, Mt Vesuvius, Sorrento) were spectacular. A wonderful driver took us to and from the marina - and even helped me retrieve my bag holding all of our important papers when I accidentally left it on the van! My only complaint is that we didn't spend enough time at the hotel itself (spa, pool, restaurant) so will likely be back.

Villa Marina it's a really wonderful place in Capri, cared not only in the beautiful rooms, excellent chef and service, quitely place, but also for the view on the dock bay "Marina Piccola" really wonderful. Owner she's an elegant and educate woman of an old Capri family. She's supervisor of this property and with her you can be sure all is perfect.
I have slept and eated last summer in Villa Marina and, with my surprise, I have discover how much people of royal families, business man and famous jet set people stay here without confusion, in complete anonymity and discretion.

I'm sure to coming back in Villa Marina, for sleeping or just for an elegant and quality dinner, or a drink on the superb swimmingpool. Here luxury is a question of character, discretion, beauty without excess.

We stayed in Capri at the end of a 15 day road trip through Italy and thought we'd treat ourselves by booking a room at Villa Marina, after seeing it listed as one of the top 25 hotels recommended by travellers on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed.

THE GOOD:
- Villa Marina is close to Marina Grande, so much so you can reach it on foot. It's a mere 5-10 min walk when you alight from the boat.
- The staff is very professional and their presence discreet, so you can really feel right at home.
- The room we booked was a discounted rate through Expedia/Hotels.com, so -not surprisingly- we got one of the smallest available, not facing the sea. We loved it all the same: great interior design and the terrace area at the back was rather sizeable, with a power socket and excellent WiFi connection. Another reviewer complained some rooms were rather dark, but we saw it as a plus: no unwanted early wake up caused by bright daylight flowing in, plus it meant the room temperature was always comfortable, even without air-con (can't stand air-con, so always turn it off). With so many things to do/see whilst in Capri, you're likely to spend most of your time outside the room anyway.
- The regular hotel shuttle service to/from Capri (10 min drive to Capri)

THE VERY GOOD:
- The garden has got a wonderful view over the bay (marina, Vesuvio, Napoli). The garden in itself is cleverly arranged, allowing guests to always find a corner for themselves on one of the outdoor sofas / hammocks / deck chairs.
- The wellness centre (Jacuzzi, Sauna, steam room, shower bed): the hotel offers it for free on the day of your arrival. Thoroughly recommend allowing some time for this!

THE NOT SO PERFECT:
- this is a matter of personal taste, but the ambient music, which you can hear from all outside areas (pool, garden, restaurant) sounded like lift music to us, targeted at tourists, i.e. playing only cover versions of (o)ver(l)y popular songs.
- We had a nice dinner at Ziqu (the hotel's restaurant): the food was good, but there were no surprises. We had the opportunity to dine at Villa Crespi (near Lake Orta) earlier this year. They have 2 michelin stars and serve you a meal you will never forget for the same price. Then again, prices are on average 20%-30% higher around Capri/Amalfi Coast, so this is more to do with having the right expectations when booking a table.

It was a beuatiful place, but days before we arrived we were bumped out of our suite and moved to a regular room. It was okay, but not well lit. The ramp to the rooms was too hard on my mom, but once they discovered that they quickly arranged for her to go back and forth in the blue buggy.

One Friday night there was a singer...she was amazing!

Dinner in the restaurant was outstanding! At first I was surprised there was no one there, but we tried it anyway and ofcourse received amazing service and incredible food.
