We walked up to this restaurant after reading about it in our guide book and it was so worth the trip. A 20 minte walk up into Capri, passing lots of lovely houses, the restaurant itself is set in orange groves. Great food! You must try the rabbit ragu. Zucchini flowers lovely too as a starter. Service was very nice and relaxed.
Continue up the hill to Villa Jovis for great views over the island.

We loved our 2 lunches at 'La Savardina' this time almost as much as when we first found it on a day-trip from Amalfi 7 years ago. Sadly, since then the Patriarch Edouardo has passed away, but the family continue to produce their delicious and authentic country dishes, and his Daughter-in-law, who now runs the restaurant is so genuinely warm, polite and efficient.

The restaurant is a welcome watering-hole just below Villa Jovis (which is quite a walk!). The tables are set beneath overhanging Lemon Trees and the atmosphere is relaxed and very welcoming.

Our favourite dishes are:-

- Deep-fried Zuchini Flowers and Sage-leaves - melt-in-your-mouth airy batter and delicate flavours,

- 'Linguine a Limone' - Home-made linguine cooked and draped over a lemon with lemon ceam sauce and parmesan - trully inspired - the moist pasta draws out the zest from the lemon-rind and the taste is unbelievably good!

- 'Linguine with rabbit Sauce' - deliciously meaty and herby and very satisfying!

This restaurant is nearby Villa Jovis, a Roman villa for Emperior Tiberius so that's why we chose to go there. It is located in a quiet neighborhood. It has indoor and outdoor seating and looks pretty child-friendly.

We had a great lunch with great service. My favorite was the fried zucchini blossoms (try them if you see them on any restaurant menu). My husband enjoyed his pasta and I had rabbit stew (also delicious). It was a very reasonably priced restaurant (especially for Capri).

My husband I spent 10 wonderful days in Capri, Italy in May 2008. My experience with Eduardo of La Savardina has been nothing short of wonderful. I first found the establishment online while planning our trip. I wrote Eduardo regarding when his restaurant in Capri is open. He was then heading to his restaurant in Rome but invited us there! As my trip planning progressed, I again wrote Eduardo as he had returned to the Isle of Capri. I asked for reservations and he responded within a day or two with a confirmation. The walk to La Savardina was very nice. We took our time walking and stopped along any of the hilly areas. We are an older couple. From Via Croce (which is where we rented an apartment) it took us approximately 20 minutes to walk to La Savardina. It was worth the walk! The food was wonderful, the price was not out of line and the wine was so good, it actually still had a taste of the grape. The waiter was very charming and catered to our needs perfectly. The resident cat was there to amuse us! All in all, it was a wonderful, romantic, memorable dinner. I would highly recommend anyone to make the extra effort to escape the hustle bustle of the Piazetta area of Capri and go into the country. It is nothing short of charming.
