We were looking for a nice place far from the touristic centre and we found this one while walking to Arche Naturale. We asked our hotel staff to book a table for a dinner as it was Sunday night, however, it appeared completely unnecessary as we were the only guests that night!
As mentioned the restaurant is located off the beaten track so it took us 15 minutes to walk uphill from our hotel but it was worth: the building itself is really interesting, charming greenish light outside and the interior is super cosy.
A very polite and kind waitress welcomed us warmly and since we were the only guests she gave us her entire attention (so did the main chef). In the beginning we were treated with a glass of prosecco (on house) and home made goat salami - very tasty! Then we were brought home made rolls and sticks - also great! Since neither of us was particularly starving we decided to share antipasti: gorgeous mozzarella buffala with fresh tomatoes, pepper and olive oil. Then my husband ordered spaghetti with tomato sauce and shrimps and I decided to have grilled sea bass with quinoa mixed with some nuts and asparagus plus a glass of white wine. We were very pleased with our choices: portions weren't too huge so we could enjoy our food slowly, tasting it with every sense: eyes, nose and mouth of course! For a dessert we ordered almonds-chocolate chips cake, similar to Capri cake, with Madagascar chocolate inside. We found out that we were very first guests trying this dessert out as it had been the chef's new idea. In the end we were given a shot of limoncello.
It's worth to mention that the main chef is twnety-something years old, he is the owner's son who has been basically growing up in this restaurant but he was also trained by top chefs in some Michelin-starred restaurants. He is very creative and combines old, natural ingredients with modern ones in uncommon ways. Additionally, Da Tonino offers a very impressive selection of wines. The waitress told us that there are around 10,000 bottles of wine in their wine cellar.
Overall we really enjoyed our dinner: the food was great, the atmosphere outstanding, the service more than polite (thank you Luciana and cooking personnel!). We do hope we will return to Da Tonino some day!

We were only on Capri for a few hours & found this restaurant completely by accident, whilst trying to avoid all the crowds. We were just walking the tiny streets of Capri, getting further from the centre, when we found "Da Tonino". It was lunchtime & there was only one man eating there when we arrived. We were made to feel very welcome.
The surroundings were very Italian & lovely.
The food was excellent, especially the gnocchi - so light & tasty.
We were so pleased we didn't follow the crowds!

I followed the recommendations on trip advisor and the staff at La Minerva and we were not disappointed. I had an excellent plate of Gnocchi and a beef filet. Both were delicious, as was the pizza that my wife and daughter shared. Da Tonino is located a bit off the beaten track, closer to Villa Jovis then the main touristy part of Capri but it is well worth the (20 min)trek. Also, the prices are reasonable. While there were certainly some other TA's(trip adviser's) there, there were also several locals.

We found Da Tonino on our second to last night in Capri. I only wish we had known about it sooner. It's a beautiful, charming restaurant that I think might be overlooked by visitors because it's an uphill walk and not in the main part of Capri. It's so worth it and you'll walk off your dinner before eating it. The food is authentic and delicious. Domenico, the owner is the heart and soul of the place. When the high season is winding down he is the chef. We had the catch of the day and it was cooked in a pezzogna ("crazy water") sauce and it was amazing. Simple but outstanding flavors. Domenico makes his own limoncello and is the most generous, gracious host. He truly loves Capri and traditional cuisine. This was by far the best restaurant we dined in while staying in Capri and we went right back on our last night. I can't wait to go back just to be in that restaurant with all of it's good energy, good people and good food. Can't recommend it enough.

We were wandering around in Capri getting further and further from the tourist centre and stumbled across this delightful restaurant. The seafood was fabulous and the pizza was generously sized and tasty. What we really loved was the rustic decor and that it was nestled beautifully in the natural surroundings. Enjoy a meal here. The only thing I couldn't understand was why there were so few people around! Probably just because it's off the beaten path.
